Ebay reviews are dodgy as - dont rely on reviews of a product

For a broken coccyx we had to buy a special cushion. Logged on to ebay and found this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Memory-Foam-Coccyx-Orthoped-Seat…

… and our problems started.
First, the product never arrived in 3 days as promised by Fast N Free. The seller said not their problem. Ebays problem. Ebay said not our problem, sellers problem,

Second, the cushion itself was dodgy. It was just a sponge wrapped in a cloth - so I hope no one buys this to support their coccyx.

The most interesting part is, I have submitted a review for this product on ebay (which btw the seller has sold 2k+ of these shitty cushions and has 2 positive reviews) and ebay didn't publish it. After chatting and fighting for an honest review to show up for about 2 weeks with different agents, what I was told is that there is no single product review on ebay - the review is for a type of a product sold by many suppliers !! I have begun to think there is defo some sort of scam around this.

So I hope this helps people here to not rely on ebay reviews.

I didn't think people actually did solely rely on ebay reviews, let alone even looked at them at all.

  • Ebay may also protect the seller from bad reviews as they relay on seller commissions.

Lol I wouldn't have bought from them if you checked the negative feedback (which you should always do)

I don't factor in overall reviews unless it is unanimously bad.

YouTube reviews if it is a technical product.

Even Amazon reviews are hilarious sometimes. People who rave on about a product immediately after unboxing.

Remember, if it is durability you're concerned about, exercise your consumer protection. Everything else should be as photographed or specifications.

  • You only have to read a few "product reviews" on eBay listings to realise that they are not necessarily for that particular product and/or from that particular seller.

It's just even more crap that eBay displays on their pages that has nothing to do with the product listing you're trying to look at.

I prefer to shop on AliExpress for cheapie unbranded stuff because the reviews are actually based on the product, not the seller

  • If you have Ebay plus you can return the item as an item not as described case.
