Can any recommend a decent vacuum sealer to go with these bags? Just picked up an Anova and have heard vacuum sealing is far more reliable than snap lock bags.

I’ve used a few of the cheaper ones from places like Aldi and Kogan, but they don’t compare to the Sunbeam one I have now (VAC780/VS7800). I’ve probaly gone through close to 500m of rolls by now, and it hasn’t missed a beat. I’d probably look at a Sunbeam VS6100 as a starting point… the on board roll holder is handy, and the 6100 looks to be the cheapest one with it.

You can also buy the rolls for cheaper than this from eBay - I usually pay about $30-$35 for 10 from memory - but the Kogan pricing isn’t too bad… especially compared to the sunbeam ones

    • I bought this one from Amazon last week. Only used it once but works great so far! I bought it based on the amazon feedback.

Do you have some examples from eBay as I can't find anything cheaper than Kogan (unit price)? For example, Kogan's works out to be 68c/ whereas eBay's works out to be 75c/m.

  • When these are sealed, is it possible to cut the sealed area up horizontally ie divide the 28cm area up into two separate pieces? I am looking at a better way to package up my jerky.

As long as you double seal, and cut between them it should be ok. I often seal the bottom, and then create two seals up the middle (about 1-2cm apart) and then put stuff into each pocket. Chuck the top into the sealer, and then vac/seal it. Then you can cut down the channel you've made to give you two individual bags

These look similar to ones that I bought off eBay a while back and I just cut them up and heat sealed them (using the vacuum sealer) to the size I wanted.
