  • Oohh this or xps13

    • Don't think XPS has RX550, so get this if you want to do some light gaming. Plus this also has a 500GB m.2 drive, so read/write speeds should be good.

      • +2

Not to mention it's stackable with 10% Cashrewards.

  • +1

    RX550X

It would have been better if it was GTX 1050-Ti

      • +2

Thanks for your suggestion, but the graphic card is not 1050 Ti and the laptop is much heavier, which beats the purpose of those light performance laptops such as XPS (and this Lenovo isn't particularly light either).

By the way, I will never buy another Clevo shitbox. Their laptops always look good spec-wise, but in practice their laptops are always plagued with all sorts of software issues.

        • +3

When comparing with XPS, X1 Carbon is the one you pick. The Lenovo E series is only a budget range, plastic casing, heavy, and failed at one hand lifting screen test. But mate, look at those specs.

        • I agree, I've known three that are DOA

    • Edit: delete, see below.

  • Anyone know if Lenovo is still screwing around with Superfish and collecting user data without consent?

    • +1

Nope that all stopped back in 2015.

    • +5

That has never happened with ThinkPads IIRC.

This seems like a better deal as a gaming laptop.

      • Especially since the i5-9300H is only 10% faster than the i7-8565U with an increase of TDP from 15W to 45W that'll have an impact on battery life. I imagine the Dell will probably end up weighing more as well making it less ideal than the Lenovo.

        • But the Lenovo comes with RX550. The laptop is too heavy for an ultrabook and too weak on GPU to be called a gaming laptop.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yeah Lenovo aren't selling this one off as a gaming laptop. More business with a bit more firepower kind of laptop. Something I'd use as dedicated graphics has it perks.

        • I think the dell came in at around 1.6kg … lenovo is similar at 1.7

          • @scud70: Their webpage said it depends on the configuration. Do you know if that's the specific one in the deal?

            • @Clear: well the spec listed i believe said 1.6 on the website as per the post :) maybe it varies if you add mechanical hdd's or something .. beats me lol

              • @scud70: Yeah Dell's website said it varies on configuration but starts from.

        • 8765U will just throttle sooner.

        • The Dell weighs little less at 1.59kg (magnesium body) in fact this is light. The Dell has a larger battery, however the 45W CPU a heavy on power consumption.

          • @sapsec: Yes that's the default weight but if you click the star next to that you will also get…

Weights vary depending on configuration and manufacturing variability.

  • Why does Lenovo has more chin than Jay Leno.

    • +1

It's because their ThinkPad lines have to have the trackpoint which means an extra row of mouse buttons, which makes the form factor more like 4:3 but the screen is 16:9

Thanks brother! just wondering if you have anything for Yogabook…need something light for carry..

  • Hi TA, can you do any deals for the i5 version of this?

  • perfect hachintosh spec

Any 2in1 Thinkpad deal? Yoga X1 deal would be cool.

    • +1

Second that. Also looking for 2 in 1 deals.

      • Cheapest I found so far is yoga X1 from budgetpc on ebay ($1300 after coupon) with 3 years warranty.

  • Great deal - one thing I wish I had on the E485 is Backlit keys as I like to live in the dark :)

Hi TA, any deals on Thinkpad T series laptops?

  • +2

    CHEERS TA.
Very happy now, got mine paid and sorted out thanks TA for coming through with this i7 laptop. I thought I would have to pay more for Windows 10 Pro on this deal, but this version you linked has the Pro already in the price, and it has an RJ45 socket for gigabit Ethernet on the side too, very happy to still be able to get a standard Ethernet on the actual laptop, no USB to RJ45 dongle needed for our wired gigabit network like I would need with the XPS13. Also Picked up the 14 inch sleeve for $25 too. Great work TA, just hoping that my Cashrewards picked up the sale correctly for the extra 10% off.

    • +3

Let us know how you go with tracking, but shouldn't be an issue as the TA codes are all exclusive to CR. And thanks for the kind words :)

I was checking out the Cashrewards website and found this:
    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/lenovo#coupons

Yoga 530(14) for $996.79 (using the code EOFY) with 10% cashback.

The specs aren't as good as this computer, but for those wanting a Yoga (if @tightarse is unable to work his magic) it may be OK. Just trying to help.

  • I have an old Dell from 2010 and it has fingerprint.

Clean it off with a microfibre cloth.

For an E series at this price point 8B RAM (instead of 16GB) is a deal breaker

  • how much will it be after cashrewards?

    • Cashback is calculated ex GST for Lenovo:

      $1199 ÷ 1.1 = $1090 (ex GST price)
      10% of $1090 = $109 (cashback amount)
      $1199 - $109 = $1090 (cost after cashback)

      • +1

Thanks, TA. I just ordered one.

      • Are you sure you can get $109 from cashback? I've only used it a few times but I thought that cashrewards capped at $50 per transaction?

        • No caps at Cashrewards.

  • Expect a month plus for delivery like the last deal

  • Why are Lenovo's ugly as shit?

  • +1

Got an emailed confirmed $109 cash back once lenovo confirmed deal with them, expecting 95 days for receiving cash back .

Thanks. Just wondering how can i request for 16G DDR instead of 8g?… Could not figure out how to customize my order.

    • I'm looking to do the same too but cannot find where to upgrade to 16G DDR.

    • Just had a chat with Lenovo, they said it's preconfigured model and that we cannot customize it.

      • thanks a lot on the updates~~

  • For those subscribed to this thread, i5 E490 now available at $999:

    • +1

      Can you do a deal of i7 E490 with 16G please :D

  • For those subscribed, not going to post this as a separate deal (others can if they wish). I've been able to get the E490s down to $999 with code TA-HEX490s. Link is here. There's also a Cashrewards link in the regular place if interested. All the best :)

    • what is the difference between E490 and E490s?

  • Would be great if there was a deal on the 15.6" with the same specs.

  • This or the other deal? Trying to see which one is better performing bang for buck
