    shhhh

    • It's a completely legal to use technology. Just like owning a gun isn't illegal.

      • +5

        wot

    • It's a pretty simple web site/page
at the end of the "GoToDeal" link.

Could they be a Phishing for CC #'s
      or PayPal login credentials…?

  • wow insane deal…

    This is usually $15.83/mo USD

For those new to usenet… Think of it as torrents but WAY better..
No ISP legal issues, no traffic upload/download ratio crap, unlimited downloads, way faster download speeds, way more content…

    • +18

      sshhhh!

    • I'm confused. What are the benefits if you're already in private trackers and have ratio?

      • +1

        No ratio required for this.

      • Both. UseNet for daily stuff that’s automated.

SeedBox for older stuff and ratio building.

        • +1

You can automate private trackers too, with RSS announcements.

          • @AustriaBargain: I know, you automate trackers too with Sonarr and Radarr, but the point is, I’m not going to risk my ratio with automation. With UseNet, there is no ratio.

            • @PainToad: I've automated with Sonarr and Radarr, and added on ratio requirements before the torrents pause and are removed, so my ratio is constantly increasing and never goes down.

Is there any benefit to Usenet in my case? I know it's really useful especially to people who don't want to bother with private trackers, but since I already have all of that sorted out, I'm having trouble seeing what the advantage is.

  • +2

That's incredibly cheap, even if just for the VPN!

    • +1

Nice…. I just looked at their VPN server list. They have 66 AU servers, 729 US servers… About 1366 VPN servers in total. Very nice addition I didn't realize.

      • Mate, can you kindly share the page where they list the vpn servers? I have a current subscription to PIA and wondering if this can do the job.

        Nevermind, found it! https://support.newshosting.com/customer/en/portal/articles/…

It may not give you the discout you get from Youtube india or Argentina but definitely a good deal for usenet.

  • Will give it a try. Feel better that it has the PayPal option.
    Seems to have good reviews.
Currently have UsenetServer which works well, but doesn’t hurt to have a backup account that doesn’t require you to buy blocks

    • Only if this is on a different block. Otherwise you're just paying for the same thing.

    • +1

I also am on UNS, I got this to replace UNS when my UNS account expires in a few months. Both are on the same Highwinds backbone (https://www.reddit.com/r/Usenet/wiki/providers), so they will have the same stuff available and suffer the same takedowns.

Just remember to cancel your autorenew for UNS if you set it up!

  • If only their site would load.

    • +1

yep site is being ozbargained… I don't think this deal will last very long before they sell out.

      • Incredible deal for Tier 1 provider… Thanks OP

      • I think it must have sold out. I'm only getting the annual option where it works out at $12.95/m :(

  • Great! set it up with NZBgetand now sonarr'ing on

  • are they have a good reputation?

    • +1

Was with these guys until the newsgroup ninja and usenet prime deals came along a few weeks ago.
      Had no issues with connections/speed.
Prettty amazing price. Guess they are trying to fight the sweet deals offered by the new providers.

      • +1

Wow, I thought I got a good deal with Ninja.

  • +1

Turns out it was $20USD so I was charged $29.96 AUD.

    • Just came to ask that, please put in title. Thanks

      • +1

Sorry, thought that was obvious, but you’re right, it should of been there.

        • Thanks (just so you don't get negs) and a great find :)

        • +4

          Should have*

        • Should HAVE been there.

Does anyone know if 60 connections mean you can share this with 60 people theoretically? Like for an entire office?

    • +1

      Nope, doesn't work like that.

      • +2

I think technically it could work if it’s in an office because all the computers would have the same public IP.

      Oh my.

    • +2

      Standard for posting

    • So, maybe it's a kind of Honeypot for enforcement purposes…?

  • under $30 a year? god damn that's cheap.

  • Thanks OP!

I always wonder why companies and websites have promotions that offer such severe discounts.

If they are a reputable, reliable and stable company - wouldn't they have enough full paying customers to not need to offer such discounts?

Do they need a sudden cash injection? If so, why? Are they having some sort of business trouble?

Are they simply trying to rapidly grow their business using very cheap and unsustainable prices and then hope to gain some full paying customers as referrals?

Are they attempting to balance network traffic or bandwidth for some technical reason that is over my head?

    • Some of those questions ran through my head too. But crikey it's cheap.

    • These things can be said for every product in discount.

      • There is discounting and then there is 92% discounting…

    • Many providers have been dropping prices recently it seems. Reduced data and storage costs might be sustaining the decreases.

      • Or… Good Ol' Capitalist COMPETITIVENESS

They gotta shake out the weak competitors

  • Is there a 30 day or similar money back guarantee?

Does anyone know the VPN provider?

    • REFUND POLICY
If you are less than 100% satisfied with the VPN service, we will gladly refund your payment if the refund is requested within seven (7) days from the date of the purchase. Requests made later than the 7 day purchase date will not be honored.

You understand that by paying using variably priced currencies, such as BitCoin, you are using a payment method that may fluctuate a large amount in value in a short period of time. You agree that any refunds for transactions using these methods will be assessed at the USD exchange rate at the time of the refund, and not at the time of the original transaction or refund request.

You also understand that certain cash equivalent or other payment methods may not allow for refunds or that refunds may happen slowly or by paper check or that refunds may have service fees associated with them. You agree and acknowledge that Newshosting is not liable if a payment method does not allow for refunds. You will receive an offer for service in lieu of a refund if a payment method does not allow a refund.

      • Hey DrOobley - where did you find this Refund policy?
I need to cancel as it's just too slow for me :(
But I can't find this on their website any more?

        • It smashed my 50Mbps connection…. so seems you have different experience. No issue with your connection?

          • @eecchhoo: My Internet really isn't great, but with my usual download method I get at least 1.5mg down.. but with this one using sabnzdb server it maxed at around 500kb.

So unfortunately just wasn't good enough for me 😢

        • It's in their "Terms of Use & Privacy Policy" located at "By purchasing you are agreeing to our terms of service and privacy policy."

    • this info from Reddit:

They use WLVPN https://wlvpn.com/ (run by Highwinds/StackPath themselves) for the VPN service. Same backbone as paid providers IPVanish, Namecheap and OverPlay so for a free VPN service it's excellent. Fast and lots of server options.

That said, there is this (https://torrentfreak.com/ipvanish-no-logging-vpn-led-homelan…) but that was before Stackpath took over.

I was about to sign up but something tells me that this is too good to be true. No one in this thread has confirmed being able to use the service after signing up. Likewise on the reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/c370yk/newshosting_… In fact there are complaints about not being able to access the service there. I'll check back later and hope to see that my fears are unfounded.

    • Well, I signed up and tested it and it works great.
I'll give it a few more days before I disconnect my service with thundernews.

    • yep. signed up, can't even log in. Paid via paypal to hopefully get a refund if it turns bad. Otherwise its a $30 bet. Hopefully they are just getting smashed.

      • after resetting password mine worked. not sure if just a coincidence

      • Try an alternate port

      • wait 5 min

    • +1

Signed up and working fine, VPN is speed testing 90/30mb

    • Currently downloading at 4.6MBps, looking good

      • Very pleased to read that my fears were unfounded.

  • I've been paying $10 a month for this for a long time. Cancelled that and got on this… great deal thanks

Takes a while after signing up but I'm logged in and downloading now

  • +1

    Absolutely Ozbargained

  • +2

    You’re a poo poo head.

  • +1

    Fantastic deal,thanks!

I was given my login details immediately after signing up and received confirmation emails with the same.

  • usenet not good for things that have been in circulation for few days already.. so many takedowns.. torrent is better for old stuff.. right?

  • +3

I can't login, ways says username and password combination not correct

    Anyone else?

    • +1

same. i even reset my password. no dice. didnt get a confirmation email either

      • +1

Yeah same. Hopefully they can get there backlog together seems like it's not working for a lot of people…

      • Same here :/

      • +1

Did you use PayPal? Maybe that's it

        • yep :( - says transaction pending

        • Yeah I did, I was wanting that sweet buyer protection.

      • Finally got my welcome email.

    • +1

      Same

    • I also am having trouble with this

    • +1

You're maybe already doing it, but though you sign-up with an email and password, it sends you a new username, you need to use that one. Password is the same.

      • +1

        Never got that email though

        • Strange, it also should have got to those details right after payment.

          • @greennick: Contact support, they helped me with my issue.

  • Never used Usenet before but finally purchased it. Will see how it goes.

Website is so slow at the moment, might try in the morning

  • +1

Should I subscribe for an indexer as well? Most of them are not cheap I heard.

    • +2

Indexers are super cheap, NZB Geek is like 20 for lifetime, try get on DrunkenSlug when it has an opening, then you can get a bunch of free ones to round them out.

    • +1

      try abnzb

  • +1

got confirmation email upon sign up .. no issue login to the account

    • Thanks. Having trouble myself though

    • +1

I never got confirmation email, but managed to reset my password. Still not letting me login lol

      • Same here but they’ve made two transactions on my card for about $1usd so I’m hoping it all pans out

  • can someone please explain why this would be better than a good seedbox?

    • +3
      • Max out your connection, always.
      • No uploading required.
      • Cheaper than a seedbox.
      • Longer retention, generally, than torrents are alive.
      • About longer retention… i seem to keep getting broken ones as i think they were taken down by dmca after few days they were released.. what do i do wrong..?

Btw which seedbox provider is good?

  • +1

For anyone that bought the recent NewsDemon deal, i tihnk these use the same servers and wouldn't be beneficial to have both
