Not sure how good refurbished quality from Sony is, but not bad regardless, especially if you're not up for the potentially GRUELING fight for the $289 eBay plus deal tomorrow which will probably end in a few seconds.

Bought refurbs at this price a couple of weeks ago. They were “new”. Probably old stock or looked like off market by the stock label on it.
All the comments I read say that the Sony refurbs are 99% brand new which is cool

How gross are your ears that earwax gets onto over ear headphones? The pads are replaceable anyway, and I'd expect new ones on a refurb.

Nothing, but as it is a different product, comfort, sound quality, ANC, etc differ.
There is a new model coming soon, the Sony WH-XB900N for those who like extra bass.
They look very similar to XM3 and are apparently going to be slightly cheaper retail price.
Regarding overall NC strength I guess you will have to wait to find out (maybe the extra bass will help).
That is not as good. 1000X series is the flagship line while XB series is a fashion series with poorer performance.
