iPhone XS Max from AUSLUCK

Hey guys,

How legit is AUSLUCK?

I am wanting to purchase the following phone using the eBay code PYLON (which ends tonight).
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/APPLE-iPHONE-XS-MAX-256GB-SPACE-…

The first thing that concerns me is the price jacking. It is priced $100 above the retail price.
The second thing is cwongtech's comments on the following thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/436601#comment-6927500

Does anyone know if AUSLUCK is also using the same dodgy technique as MobileCiti, i.e. decoupling the phone from its plan from the carrier?

Will Officeworks likely to price match this (given physical stock)?

Or, am I just better off buying directly from Apple and use 7% cashback from CR:

if you're worried, don't do it

  • Officeworks won't price match an eBay code.

I haven't heard anything bad with Ausluck. Check if they're an authorised Apple reseller.

By the sounds of it, you should just buy from Apple for your peace of mind.

  • Bought my Macbook from Ausluck a few years ago, no problems with it.

    • It seems like you have had issues with a MacBook Air from AUSLUCK in the past.

      • I did live chat Apple then and they said they can transfer ownership to me since I have proof of purchase (doesnt affect warranty) but they called me at an inconvenient time and I cbb after that. That update problem went away by itself, no idea what that was about. Using the laptop right now :)

  • $8 cheaper here

    They've posted here before

  • Have used Ausluck in the past for 2 IPads, no problems fast delivery from Melbourne.

Ausluck known for price jacking, when there is 20% off really only 10%, I wouldn’t buy from principle alone.

    • I have contacted them on eBay regarding this, and also the nature of their iPhone stock (whether decoupled from plan or not). No response whatsoever!
If they cannot be bothered responding now, I wonder how will they treat their customers who have urgent issues that need to be resolved.

Definitely not impressed with this mob.

Just reporting back my finding that if you come across an iPhone XS price (brand new, sealed in a box, AU stock) on eBay or elsewhere that is too good to be true, then it is. They are all phones that are decoupled from a plan.

The major risk with buying such a decoupled phone is that if the person who has the SIM reports their phone/SIM as lost or stolen then your phone will most likely be IMEI blocked by the carrier (rendering it useless on the Australian cellular networks).
