Do We Have Steroids in The Protein Supplements?

I came across this article https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/supplements/938…. It says that one-in-five contained banned substances. How do we ensure that the protein powders we buy do not have steroids/banned substances?

Ha ha. I think half the forum posters at OzBargain could use more testosterone anyways.

Anything with "proprietary blend" and undisclosed ingredients is just the typical FDA loophole exploited by the nutrition industry (including naturopathic) to claim their clinical potency.

The exploit works by applying for a patent for their "blend" and in the mean time, they use study results which often has elements of facts to market their product.

They'll mask any pseudo legal substances under the guise of "proprietary blend" and when their product is finally conclusively proven to be crap or contain banned substances, they'll just rebrand/reformulate.

It is easy to stay away from potentially dangerous substances - don't buy products with undisclosed ingredients.

Do not see why the contents matter?
You are paying top dollar for a placebo that has no benefit anyways. May as well get some free steroids thrown in too.
