Who needs this? All it does is to slow your system down. All you need is the microsoft free antivirus software.

    • The last couple of years has seen Norton security products really reduce their system resources and I now use them again. I actually purchased the 3 user 360 OEM version from MSY for $35 last week, and was still able to register for the $29 cashback from Nortons.

+1 to this. Am running a trial of NIS 2011 at the moment, and it's great. Very low on resources, better than MSE I'd say.

And.. wait.. you got 3 licences at 2 bucks each?! Nice ozb-ing there bro.

      • Hmmm, Interesting!
I've paid no attention to Norton for many years because it was a complete waste of space resource hog!
Problem is, they've now cooked their goose. The free options (combined with "smart surfing") have performed admirably. What "value" is there to be had from a suite like this?

  • Just because I haven't paid much attention to posts, does NIS get sales/rebates like this as well often enough? I prefer it over N360.

  • I work in IT and like to evaluate different AV/IS products. I took advantage of a similar deal in January (I think) in order to verify the reports from the magazines (based on internet AV comparisons, not the mags own work) that Norton has markedly improved in the last few years. I had a really awful time with the installation from the included DVD. I emailed Norton support and they instructed me, quite quickly, to use the Norton/Symantec removal tool and install from the latest download. Since then I have been very impressed with the Norton product (Norton 360). I am confident in recommending it, too. It was also a cashback offer, and while it took a while for the cheque from Symantec to arrive, it did arrive within the specified time frame. If I didn't already have this product (and will be test driving another product when this expires) I'd take advantage of this deal. I'm just sorry I didn't have time to post it myself :)

hey if you still want to avail this offer then you can do that..all u have to do is activate the software before the timeline and is you still have days left for you old subs to get over then the get added to the new subs..so all the days ge combined…

      • yes. I confirmed it from Norton too.

      • be careful with subscription, I read on the norton support forum that product key obtained from boxed version will not be added to existing subscription days remaining. This key feature is available for online renewal from norton site and not from boxed version. So cashback feature will be essentially useless for those seeking this effect.

  • Any details on how to get the cashback?

  • Does Norton 360 expire after 12 months and you need to renew your subscription to get updates?

    • yes all of the antivirus software are like that.

  • +1

    @abc yes

Wonder if you have the 2 or 3 years subscription copy? or is that online purchase only?

    • That sucks so u have to uninstall/reinstall after expiry :(

      • Not really. Buy 1 year license and after it expires Norton might have 2012 or 2013 ready for you.
        You can then :
1/ Buy the newer version and put your new license in the current installation.
2/ Follow 1 then select to upgrade your current installation.
3/ Buy clearance stock of the old version and put the license in.

Nowadays they are all subscription based. Hence you will need to have a valid license only to run current or newer [or even older] version in the market.

  • I cannot find any information on the usb key. Are you sure its by redemption? This is a previous cashback offer Norton ran if anyone wishes to see how it went.

On the box the sticker says "By Redemption". It is a bit tricky locating the website, so here it is:
