    Wow awesome deal doweyy!!!
The Hisense series 7, OzBargains favourite tv!

  • I can't seem to find many reviews on this model. I'm assuming that it's still quite new?

    • Yes. Released last month.

  • This or LG 65'' which is a bit cheaper?

    • LG for sure, much more reputable brand for TVs

    • Where is the LG deal?

  • +1

Trying to decide between this of the Samsung Series 8 65" RU8000.. Can anybody comment on which one is better?

    • -8

If you want to use a Logitech Harmony universal remote, then don't get the Hisense (or any Hisesne)

      • +1

Don't think i'll ever need that. Assuming the Samsung Tv would cost me the same, would that be the better choice?

      • +1

My logitech harmony remote works perfectly fine with my Hisense 75N7

        • -1

Except there's no direct input selection. Makes it hard to set activities.

      • +6

        Oh boy, this guy again…

    • Samsung and Sony has apple tv app, if you are into apple eco system.

      • +1

        Nobody uses that

  • +1

How much better than the P7 is this? Or would the r6 be the new P7?

    • No, the R6 is 50Hz native (interpolated to 100Hz), whereas the P7 is 100Hz native (interpolated to 200Hz).

      • -2

TVs are only 60 or 120hz native.

    • I think the main diff is this has potentially better OS.

  • What are the improvements of this model over the P7?

    • +2

Newer OS. Vidaa 3.0 vs Vidaa 2.5. This means you get Amazon Prime. Also Bluetooth and Alexa.

    • +1

It seems Hisense have improved R7 series in terms of HDR content: "Dolby Vision HDR" vs "HDR". But I am not sure if they have improved peak brightness (nits) on the R7 TV. I found my P7 TV does not do a great job when displaying HDR content.

      • +1

Displaying excellent HDR content isn't always directly correlated to peak brightness tho. Peak brightness won't do anything for dark scenes.

  • I always thought the P7 (therefore R7) had local dimming but I read a review the other day that said the R7 was edge lit and that Hisense were BSing with the specs on the P7. Anyone got any further info on that?

    • +1

It has "local" dimming, it's just edge lit as opposed to the superior backlit local dimming

This needs android TV built in and I'm sold…

  • p8 or r7?

    • -4

      R7.
Why would you want to own a TV that's a year old?

      • +1

        Back lite vs edge lite

      • +1

because a year is not very long… But saves you a lot of money

        • +2

and next year there's a new model again

  • We have the 65n7 and the picture is great especially after the latest update from hisense, if only they put as much work into the software that runs the tv as they do picture quality it would’ve the perfect tv.
We also have a Kogan 65 Android tv and you can actually update the apps, the trade off it has a shitty picture. Hisense needs Android and it would be perfect until then I wouldn’t buy another one.

    • Grab an android box?
i rather have a android box than a TV with android. Most manufacturers don't bother upgrading the android version or security upgrades.

      • +1

Fair call, I use a nvidia shield as well for Android on the hisense. You are right though sometimes a dedicated box is a better option

    • Just get an nvidia Shield. They are fantastic and fast. The built in OS on TV's is usually pretty slow and buggy. Even with Android built in I'd have a preference to an external box.

Just ordered one, thanks. Couldn't find a deal on the P7 or P8 that I was happy with.

Here's a review of the R7 for those interested: https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/hisense-2019-series-7-r…

    • Thanks for the review. Great this TV has DV now although this was confusing in the review:

HDR is the base standard, and Dolby Vision encompasses the higher HDR10 and HDR10+ standard as well.

I thought HDR10+ was a competing standard to DV but oh well.

  • Hya would this work well with the Yamaha 108 that's also currently on offer?

  • TCL C6 or Hisense 7? I saw the TCL in Costco, the apperance looks nice, and a little cheaper than this one.

  • Just got a Sony 65' x9500g for $2772, Saturday delivered. JB agreed to the price but had no stock, then went to the GGs and they said we are owned by JB so we will match them. Amazing tv.

    • Wrong thread?

    • Who cares?

  • Guys any advice on those screen, coming from a 58" Samsung plasma in my theatre room. I was waiting for a good 65 OLED deal, bit could get something like this for a while and move it into my open living once a good OLED deal comes along. Will there be a huge difference in picture quality, and going up to 4k from the plasma worth it?

    • LG B8 OLED wasn't good enough for you?

      • Think he is saying he is waiting for a deal on an OLED. Not that it wasn’t good.

        • I mean the LG B8 deals. You won't get better than those over the last few days.

    • +2

I may be able to give you some insight. I went for a 58" HD Plasma (PS58C7000) to a 65" 2016 model Hisense 4K (65M7000). I'm not sure about this new R series but when i was looking at last years P series they didn't look much better than my M series.

My 2 cents is that moving away from your Plasma is a trade off, and it was a bit of an adjustment for me (i used the plasma in another room for a year after before it died, and i still use a Panasonic 1024x768 TH-42PX80A plasma in my bedroom now). For normal tv/foxtel and general HD content quite frankly a good Plasma is better in most use cases, you don't gain anything viewing wise going to a 4K and in some areas its a step backwards due to LED backlighting issues, dirty screen effect, and to a lesser extent inferior motion handling. Plasma had a better image overall, better motion, easily a truer more natural image. Sports in particular a good Plasma was better and if yours still works good i'd suggest keep using it for vewing NRL/AFL/Soccer. Note this is all based on sitting within 3M of the screen. If further away than that then the issues become much less a factor.

However, for 4K content and HDR there is no denying the increased detail on the 4K display takes viewing to another level. Whether streaming it or better yet disc/rips/remuxes, 4K content on the Hisense series 7's at sub $1500 are worth it.

      • Thankyou appreciate the reply

Any good reviews on this TV yet?

    • View in-store, personally thought it was one of the best TV's on-display (apart from the high-end 8K Samsungs).
Looked to have a lot less glare\reflection than the Sony's, but it could have been the placement. The Superbright LG stand and logo was adjacent to the Sony stand at JB HiFi creating lots of Glare. So would love to see Sony's in a different placement to compare.
TCL also looked good, but as I said this TV looked excellent!!

  • Hi all, how does this model compare with the Samsung Ru7100 65"? In terms of picture quality?
    Thanks in advance..

  • +1

cheaper here 1387 after 20% off.

    • …but more expensive overall taking in the respective delivery charges.

      Moot, now though, of course.
