I am in the market for an S10+ and was not keen on buying it upfront even though I can avail of the 35% off via the EPP program,
Optus have a few deals running with their 'buy a mobile phone with plan' deals. 15% off their top plan of $125 makes it $106.25.

It can be combined with other existing offers like:
Free Galaxy Tab A for plans >$85/month
Flybuys bonus points

With the international roaming and a lower outlay than owning your own phone upfront, it may be a compelling option for a few.

  So you'd rather pay approx $70/month for the phone plan over 24 months?

  ($2550 total - $876.85) / 24 = $69.71/month for 200GB data

  For $50/month over 12 months you could get 100GB/month, which should surely be sufficient and leaves you open to jumping to a better deal in 12 months

    I need international calls so the plans are not applicable for me. Also, the data roaming will help with the overseas holiday coming up.
    So to update the math:
    $2550 - $200 (40000 flybuys points) - $220 (Galaxy Tab A) = $2130

    Plus the tax deductions for work related expenses.

      50 dollar with Optus for international roaming plus 15 dollar with Belong for international calling.

      Grab an outright phone. I suggest pixel 3a coming from a Note 9 user. I don't see a point in flagship phones these days.

  Does Optus still offer data sharing? Can Optus give a separate SIM to share data in a mobile modem? Or with extra charge?

    yes Optus still offering Data Sharing call "Data Pool", but if you want to share data with mobile modem, you might need to get another plan with the smallest data plan, check from their website for data only plan.
