    I got 9750H, 2060, dual lane 16GB, 1TB PCI-E SSD, 120Hz, for $2K during a 20% eBay CA deal.

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Notebooks/Gaming-Noteboo…

I wouldn't pay this for last gen specs.

    • Thats sounds like a pretty good deal too but if im correct the performance different isnt that much for 9th gen and 8th gen CPU. https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-9750H-vs…. Even though its a last gen specs but the CPU differents and GTX1060 is a lot better in performance than GTX1650 (https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1650-vs-Nvi…) i think it might still be worth it. Consider the price point for 1650 + i7 models are still a lot higher than 1060 https://www.computeralliance.com.au/asus-gl531gt-al018t-15.6…

      • Yeah, there's little difference between 8750H and 9750H (10%?), so I wouldn't let that sway your decision much.

I think there's a significant difference between 2060 and 1060, on power and efficiency. I was looking at 1660 Ti initially because RTX doesn't interest me and I wanted to keep the power draw (weight, battery drainage) lower. But then this 2060 popped up for the same price, along with a 1TB PCI-E SSD and >100Hz, and I figured I'm not gonna do better than this.

I have to say though, that is a pretty good deal to get a 2060 within $2K plus 1TB SSD. i would've gone for that if I've seen it

  • Have this laptop and already used the warranty once. Everything about it sucks. Do not recommend at all.

    • Issue with Hard Drive not waking up sometimes and causing the laptop to crash
    • Issue with mouse pad randomly clicking and jumping
    • The display is garbage. If you're 5 degrees off centre there isn't a clear image
    • Keyboard layout is just weird (trust me you won't get used to it)
    • Last but not least the battery. Let's just say a rabbit would longer …
    • I guess you are unlucky. my mate said he didnt have this problem but he had problems withe other brands thats why he switch to this one

    • I have GL63 9SE.

The keys are very nice (Steelseries, good solid feel to them), but agree the format is a bit to get use to. The arrows are wedged in (not spaced) to the tenkeys so that you end up pressing left of where you would ordinarily by feel. Having said that, I'm now mostly use to it. The other thing is having to use the specific "function" key to perform functions as a secondary on other keys (e.g. display brightness, audio volume). The biggest pain is for the home, end, and page up/down functions, which really slows word processing compared to having dedicated function keys along the top.

I'm finding the display great. It's 1080p, 120Hz, IPS, but I'm guessing it's different to this model.

Same for storage. I have 1TB PCI-E SSD and booting is 5secs or so and a lot of the load times are perceptibly instantaneous. Again, probably different to this model.

Trackpad is the biggest let down. Lacks accuracy and finesse. Bluetooth mouse a must.

Battery is 52WHr. I'll get a few non-gaming hours out of it, which is kind of what I've gotten use to in the past by buying relatively entry level Dell's. Yeah I'd love more, but you have to balance it up against form factor, right?

Not a big fan of the chassis. The main thing is it feels strong and sturdy, with solid hinges. But the aesthetic is kind of boring with red accents on the lid that look lame, and the finish on the plastic picks up all the finger marks and wear.

      • Thanks for the detail explanation, I'll dig into more details on GL63

    • The mouse pad jumping around is something I've experienced on a completely different laptop, and may be related to your mains power rather than the unit itself.

Test if it occurs when it's running on battery.

I've got an older Asus ROG that I had the problem with, I could hold my finger still on a trackpad and it would be jittering all over the place. If I unplugged it, or grounded it by holding onto the metal chassis it wouldn't skip.

I found it would occur at different locations, some but not all. It must be something in them that makes then sensitive to different voltage or something.

  • any one know the difference between this and the GP63 leopard ?

    • I think the main difference is the RGB keyboard, GL63 only have single colour backlit. the chasis design is different. thats all i know
