Greetings everyone, I just noticed this over at Chollometro and it seems to be available to everyone now (not just Insiders) as per this post.

However, it seems like if you have an active subscription of Xbox Live Gold, activating this deal will give you an extra month on your subscription, plus it will give you the Xbox Game Pass up until that date according to commenters in Chollometro.

The purchase of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate automatically upgrades your Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass memberships.

From what I can tell so far, if you want to take up this offer it might be worthwhile extending your Xbox Live / Xbox Game Pass membership before taking up the offer. As the conversion after taking up this offer seems to be worse than before taking up the offer.

You can recharge up to a maximum of 36 months.

Get all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold, plus over 100 high-quality console and PC games for one low monthly price. With games added all the time, there’s always something new to play. With a huge variety of games from every genre, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy exclusive member deals and discounts. Play together with friends on the most advanced multiplayer network and discover your next favourite game.

Use your active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan membership to play games on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The Ultimate plan includes the Xbox Game Pass Console Games plan, the Xbox Game Pass PC Games plan (Xbox Game Pass PC Games plan not available in South Korea and Turkey) and Xbox Live Gold.

Note: Purchase of the Ultimate plan automatically upgrades your existing Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass membership(s) to Ultimate at a conversion ratio each based on days remaining. Learn how this works at www.xbox.com/gamepass. Future code redemptions are also subject to a conversion ratio. Conversion ratio subject to change. All conversions to Ultimate are final: Once converted, you cannot re-convert your Ultimate membership back to a previous membership. Maximum 36 months of redeemed Ultimate per account at a time, including any converted time from Xbox Live Gold and/or Xbox Game Pass (for PC or console).

20 New Titles have also been released for the Xbox Game Pass:

If i continue will this cancel my 2 years on ultimate and only give me 3 months?

  • +1

Amazing, well I'm good until 2022 fellas :D

    Edit:

Here is the link to download the Gamepass PC APP
    https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-game-pass/pc-games?OCID=xgpo…

    • How'd you get the may update?

  • Cheers Op had seen it pop up on the insider program but really couldn't be bothered trying to clarify it, as always I have reservations with Microsofts business ethics.

In the end I'm subbed to end of Oct 2020 for around 110 I had 2 of 12 month passes I bought prior to the bump in price and kept rather than stack immediately as I was interested to see what happened with this. I'd heard the rumours but wanted to be sure so seeing the proof there was going to be no pro rata rationing of exisiting subscriptions.

Now let's see it hopefully include the proposed amalgamation with Nintendo for the Switch (apparently tested and feasible) get your high capacity micro SD cards before the rush on that one which could effectively have Sony playing catch up and some worthwhile deals for all.

  • G2A seems to be having 3 month codes for a little bit over $21.
    Too good to be true?
    https://www.g2a.com/en-au/xbox-live-gold-subscription-card-3…

    • Doesn't that come out to $21*4 = $84 for the year which is quite pricey?

Cdkeys is currently at around $74 for 12 months.

      Edit: source https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-month-xbox-l…

      • Although I guess if you need less than 12 months it might be the cheapest way. Hadn't thought of that when I posted first reply! Oops.

        • Yeah, I can’t really afford to get a 12 month one, so I’m trying to get the cheapest one under 12 months.

    • Just tried buying a code from here (G2A), and it was invalid. Not happy!

  • More games have been added to PC!

You can now download Metro Exodus and Forza 4.

    • havent been able to get exodus to work

  • So, Ultimate is better than Gold? It seems like once you move over, no more Gold. Is this correct?

    • +1

Ultimate = Gold + Game Pass, bundled together

  • On Reddit, some are saying this $1 promo will end on the 17th or the 30th. Best not to delay I say.

    • That's a decent difference in date, where did you see this? Couldn't find anything, only mentions I see are for the 30th.

      • +1

hoping its the 30th, got a console coming soon and stacking a couple of big w 12mth xbox live cards with this seems like a good deal

  • +2

Bought two years sub (Brazil) from cdkeys https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-month-xbox-l… for 56$/year. Used vpn to redeem the codes but was not able to get the extra month for auto renewal, could not add my card. :)
switched back to xbox and upgraded to ultimate with no issues.

    • +1

Just to confirm, you used VPN on your PC to access the Microsoft website to redeem the Brazil codes? Looking to do this myself, so want to make sure I get it right :)

      • +1

        Yes, you are right.

      • +3

I did this for a friend of mine (paid the same $56/year). It's real easy to do. This is what I did:

        1) Install the Xbox app on your smartphone. Open it and sign into your profile.
        2) Install the Tunnelbear app on your smartphone.
        3) Once you've got the Brazil codes, open Tunnelbear and select Brazil.
        4) Open the Xbox app, select the menu icon and go to Microsoft Store.
        5) Once in the store, go to Redeem a code and paste your Brazil code and redeem.

        It's really very simple.

        • I bet you arent using an iOS device? I could never get VPNs to work across apps on the iPhone

          • +1

@katz: We use VPN's on all our iOS devices and all work just fine. Might be user error on your part or a dodgy VPN service you're using.

          • @katz: Yep, did all that on iPhone XS. Been doing it that way for while for other purchases and never had a problem.

        • and then it works fine using the console without vpn?
Need to try and setup an xbox live account and use this game pass upgrade all before i actually have a console to do it on and the deal expires

          • @SBOB: Correct. Once you use the VPN to input the code and it's been accepted, no need for VPN anymore.

        • Bought 2x 12-month Brazil codes for $56ea and followed this, except I used the Tunnelbear extension for Chrome on my desktop. Made sure I turned off recurring billing before adding the codes and each time was given the extra 1x month for turning recurring billing back on. Score!

    • That should work only with Brazil accounts. It should not work with accounts from Australia.

  • I am still confused with one thing, the promotion says "1 Month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate $1".

So let's say I have 12 months Game Pass or Gold, and the I added the Ultimate one.
That will convert my Pass or Gold to Ultimate one, but at the end of 1 month you will cancel its auto renew to $14.99, and them what?
I always play games in Single Player mode so I am a lot lost with the way how things work.
I will be more than happy if someone can clarify things :P

  • +1

So let's say I have 12 months Game Pass or Gold, and the I added the Ultimate one.

You will get the 12mths of whatever sub you have + the 1mth of Ultimate = 13mths of Ultimate. The more combined months of each or both that you have, the more months of Ultimate (up to 36mths) you will get converted.

This 1-for-1 conversion rate only applies to subs you already have redeemed before signing up to Ultimate the first time though, the conversion rate is greatly reduced if you redeem codes afterwards.

  • Thanks OP….awesome!

I did the Brazil VPN connection and bought 2 years of Gold and turned off auto billing twice. Ended up with an ultimate sub expiring 5th Oct 2021 :-)

  • If I buy 12 x 1 month Game Pass vouchers online for $3.69 each, that's $44.28 for a year. Then I go Ultimate for $1 and get 13 months total for $45.28… Am I correct?

    • +1

Ensure those 1 month game pass vouchers can be used on existing accounts. A lot of them are trials for new accounts (and can't be stacked).

      • +1

        If it's this https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/1-month-xbox-ga…

says in red PLEASE NOTE: This product only works with new Xbox Live accounts and will NOT work with existing accounts.

        • Aha. It is. That's why you need to scroll all the way down :)

I wondered why everyone else wasn't all over that deal. In my defence, it was very late when I was checking it out.

  • So I upgraded to ultimate and have until October but want to buy 12 months of gold and upgrade that retroactively. Is that possible? Do I have to cancel the time I have in order to do that?

    • Yes, you will have to cancel whatever you have currently, and getting the ultimate for 1$ offer may not necessarily be available again, you will have the 15$ option though, with same upgrade terms and conditions

  • can you buy now and activate in a few weeks? i aint got time for this right now..

    • Nope. The moment you buy is the moment it activates - same with every subscription service ever.

    • Unfortunately, unlike buying a code from a retailer, this applies immediately.

  • So the cheapest (per month) way to get in on this now would be to buy a 12 month sub from Big W for $63-ish dollars (deal avail from today, no?) or use a VPN and mess about with region settings to do it for about $53 from Brazil, then add the $1 Ultimate deal and get 13 months total of Ultimate, amiright?

    • You get an extra month for turning on auto-renewal so you would have 13 months from your Big W code and then extra month from the $1 makes it 14 months for $64, of course it's better value if you turn off auto-renewal then add an extra 1yr code and enable auto renewal again for another 13 months gives you 27 months for $127. Provided you're going to use game pass it's much better to get that 2nd year for the price of xbox live rather than the price of gamepass ultimate.

      • I kinda figured one year would be enough. Got the auto renewal month, the $1 month, the remaining 1 month and 20 days on the last $1 promo for Game Pass (3 months when initiated earlier) plus of course the year purchased for $63-some dollars from Big W.

Good til October 2020. Works for me!

  • +3

    Thanks heaps OP
managed to do this today for my upcoming console

2x 12mth xbox live cards from Big W
2x bonus 1mth for enabling recurring billing
1 month for PC game pass
1 month for upgrading it all to ultimate

    28 months for $130 bucks

  • On a related note, does anyone know how to download all these Gamepass games directly to an external hard drive. The 500gb One S fills up quick and I can only get it to download to the internal drive, then (painstakingly) move/copy each game manually to the external 3TB HDD, which for some reason also halts all downloads since the machine can't multitask that for some reason.

TLDR: How do you download games straight to an external drive?

    • +1

Set the external drive to your current default drive?

    • +1

Yep update settings to default to external. Any inflight/paused downloads etc will persist

      • Thanks guys.

        For anyone else looking:

(Home Button)>System>Storage(select drive)>Install here by default

Same menu area lets you batch transfer files/games.

  • 21 months of Ultimate. Very happy with that.

  • Where can I get a 12 month gold subscription cheap? I only have until Feb next year and want to get the most out of this $1 :P CDkeys have gone up to $80 :O

    • Big W have them for $63.96 until the 10th of July :)

  • I have a $15 JB Hifi Coupon and does anyone know will they accept that to purchase a 12 month Xbox Live subscription card ? The conditions on it say "Excluding Pre-paid & Gift cards"

    • +1

They've always accepted them when I've bought PSN and Xbox cards.

    • I had the $10 voucher for registering your receipt digitally, and their system would not accept it when I tried to get a 12-month xbox live gold card last week. It actually brought up a message saying terms of use had not been reached.

Got the same message when I tried to do it online as well.

Ended up getting the Brazil-based codes mentioned above.

  • I thought they would accept it but a JB store girl said they couldn't yesterday when I tried however when I later read the conditions it is unclear because an xbox live sub is not a giftcard… but do they classify it as a Pre-paid card ?

  • So, just to clarify (for someone who hasn't got Xbox Live gold)…to get the 36mths:

    • Get cheap 3x12mth xbox gold live cards
    • redeem them all at once on Xbox
    • THEN sign up for the 1mth free trial
    • boom - 36mths (exp Jun 2022)?
    • If you already have any months of Game Pass you can discount those from the total number of Gold Live months you buy to reach 36.

e.g. If you already have 12 months of Game Pass you only need to buy 24 months of Gold Live to get to 36 months. They stack them when converting to Ultimate.

It's actually slightly better than that as you get 1 month of Ultimate for $1 with this deal too so need to buy one less month of Gold, plus if you turn off automatic billing before you load a new subscription each time, you get another 1 month free for turning it on.

  • Still works 100% got 32 months Ultimate Game Pass with 2 x 12 month subs + 3 month plus bonus month each time I entered code for turning recurring billing on (turn off from ms account each time). Last thing to enter is the PC game pass for $1 followed finally (important!) by the $1 xbox ultimate game pass. Then all the months get converted instantly to Ultimate. For $130 I am done and good to end Feb 2022. Got my 12mth subs for $63.96 each from JB price match BigW. They would not let me use my $15 JB Coupons though, still a very good deal…. Grab it while it lasts :-D

  • Worked for me… but getting the link to work is a pain…

  • 8 days left.

  • I took advantage of this 15% off gift cards deal back in December and bought some EB Games gift cards.

Went to EB and price matched Big W's 20% off XBL cards which brought them down to $63.96 then take 15% off that by paying with the discounted gift cards.

So I managed to grab 2x 12 month XBL cards for $54.36 each.

Now I'll convert that to Game Pass Ultimate for $1 which should take me to May 2022 😎

  • I'm trying to get ultimate for $1, but keep getting a message…

    Try that again
Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help

    • Finally sorted. 3 years thanks to 2x 12 (13) month Gold purchased from BigW, and the rest in Game Pass redeemed through Microsoft Rewards

  • Thanks OP. Bought through Brazil VPN. For people wanting to make use of the full 36 months, skip the recurring one month bit. If you use the recurring option it will not allow you to use the 3rd 12 months code as adding a 3rd one will exceed the 36 months limit. So you end up with 2 x 12 months + 2 months from reoccurring option = total 26 months.

  • Some additional info:

    1. Currently, you can purchase GamePass for PC for $1 (for 1 month). That can be converted to XBox Ultimate - so it is $1 for 1 month basically.
    2. If you recently reached XBox Insider with Preview Delta or better, you want to check with XBox Support (use the live chat) as you could get 3 months GamePass Ultimate for $1 (instead of just 1 months for $1).
    3. Bear in mind that if you combined #1 and #2 - that's 4 months; don't forget to factor in your existing subscription and purchase just enough months to pad to max 36 months.

Assuming #2 is applicable to you, it is best to ask XBox Support to do the purchase for you. I tried hard to figure out a way to do it online or through the console, but I was only offered the 1 month option. Support was able to do the 3 months for $1 for me.

  • I would like to get 36 months of gold to max out ultimate gamepass. With just over 1 month left on current gold subscription is there a way to get the a 3rd 12 month gold code to work? If I cancel current gold credit will credit revert back to 0 months so I can add 3 x 12 month codes? I don't want to be stuck with one being unusable

    • I suggest you chat to Support to first find out whether you are eligible for 3 months for $1 GamePass Ultimate.

If yes, you might be better off with 2 x 12 months + 1 x 6 months + 1 month (GamePass PC) + 1 month (Remaining) + 3 months for $1 GamePass Ultimate (if you are eligible). That way, you are just 1 month short… Dunno whether you still have any unused vouchers for XBLive Gold or GamePass.

Also ask about your 3 x 12 months idea (and the issue of the last one may not be stackable/usable).

      • Thanks for the suggestion. Alternately, I was able to get the maximum length of gamepass ultimate using home sharing on 2 consoles I just added 3 x 12 month codes to my other xbox account and shared across accounts

        • +1

It comes down to which account you prefer to collect free games and to a lesser extent, which account you use to collect reward points. I guess you could always make your other XB account your main one moving forward.

  • Boom, have access until June 30, 2022!!

    • Extended my XBL Gold from 29/02/2020 to 02/07/2022 of Ultimate. Used 2x 12 month XBL Gold codes, (gave me 2x bonus months) 1x $1 Game Pass PC month, 1x $1 Game Pass Ultimate month.

  • The free months for turning on recurring billing count towards the 36 month cap. So either buy only 2 x 12 month cards or don't accept the free months.

I only got up until November 2021 (28 months). Still happy though.

  • Does anyone know exactly when this $1 offer expires?
I've got a 12 month code ordered from CJ's CD Keys which was supposed to be "Instant Delivery" currently being verified, and I would be really upset if I waited for it to be delivered and the $1 offer expired.

    • This offer has expired now, and due to the 14hour delay from CJs CD Keys I now have a 12 month licence I don't want to use.

Out of interest, if I can't get a refund does anyone know what will Halen if I add a Live Gold key to am account which already has an Ultimate subscription active? Will it just schedule the start of the Gold after the Ultimate period expires?

      • +1

You can redeem a 12 month Xbox Live code if you have Gamespass Ultimate already, it will grant you a 4 month extension on your Gamespass Ultimate

        Here's the conversion rates
        https://cdn0.tnwcdn.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2019/06…

        • Ok great. Thanks. If I cant get a refund or Paypal cashback then that's what I'll do.

          • @Spun: So CJs has refused my refund. Not a surprise.
Off to Paypal I go to seek a refund, and failing that I'll try to sell it here or on ebay.

            • @Spun: If you wait until your ultimate subscription expires you can activate the code as a 12 month gold subscription as per normal

  • According to True Achievements this offer expires today (4th July)…

    https://www.trueachievements.com/n37953/xbox-game-pass-ultim…

  • +3

I did this today and confirming it still works 😉

  • +1

Great deal that still works. Just then, I extended my Gold until Dec 2020, then for $1 more, it's now Game Pass Ultimate until Jan 2021. Thanks OP!

  • +2

I just did this today, got 35 months worth of Ultimate for around $153, which works out to $4.37 per month.

    A 72% saving for Ultimate Pass @ $16/mo.
    A 60% saving for PC/Console Pass @ $11/mo.

I utilised the recurring payment method mentioned above to get a free month for each XboX Live Gold subscription I bought (3 total free months).

I then got my 36th month using my Microsoft Rewards points.

    This is everything I did:

    • (If you don't know what the recurring payment method is, read some previous posts in this thread.)

    • I already had the $1 normal PC pass (not ultimate) that I got a week or two ago. This gives you 1 month.

    • I bought 2 x 12 month Xbox Live Gold @ $56 ea.
I used a free TunnelBear account for this and set it to Brazil, using their chrome extension in Incognito mode (first I had to allow the extension to be used in Incognito mode in Chrome). It was pretty easy and straightforward. Turned off recurring payments after each one to get the free month for both.

    • I bought 1 x 6 month Xbox Live Gold @ ~$39 ea. (Use discount code MORROG for 3% off)
This website was pretty good, got my key straight away through the website no problems. Paid with PayPal. Use discount code MORROG for 3% (~$1.30) off, this will help offset their "operation fee" when checking out. PayPal had the cheapest "operation fee" I think, about $1.60. The rest were around $3-$4. Got a free month here for setting up recurring payment.

    • I redeemed 1 Xbox Live Gold month from Microsoft Rewards using my points I had accumulated over the years.

    • Lastly, I bought the $1 Ultimate Pass which gave me a month of Game pass and finally converted all those XBox Live Gold months to Ultimate Game Pass months.

    • Just as clean up, I turned off recurring payments so I don't get charged in 3 years unexpectedly.

EDIT: You can get the 3 month deal for Ultimate for $15 as well if you've already got a few some Xbox Live Gold months on your account. Just make sure you do the maths on your months and buy the Ultimate last as that is what converts the Xbox Live Gold to Ultimate Game Pass.

This gives me 1+12+12+6+3+1+1 = 36 months (including the 3 free months from the gold subscriptions).

My subscription ends on 8/7/2022, 2 years, 11 months, 22 days from today.

  • Hey guys,

Just to confirm, the trick still works!!!
I just got 30 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for 114.18 AUD.
I haven't had any current subscription prior doing this.

    1. Buy 2x 12 MONTH XBOX LIVE GOLD MEMBERSHIP (XBOX ONE/360) BRAZIL from cdkeys.com = 2x 56.09AUD
    2. Using VPN (NordVPN) on my laptop to set up Brazil IP.
    3. Log in into your Microsoft account and redeem your 2x 12 Months gold membership using recurring payment method trick to get 2 extra months
    4. Redeem XBOX GAME PASS I had lying around which came with my new Xbox 1S. (About 1 year old) I got 2 months worth of subscription by using recurring payment method. So i got 1 month free from code + 1 month extra for recurring payment.
I believe this can be also done after logging through Australian IP
    5. Log out from VPN to get back to Australia
    6. Buy 1 month of Xbox Game Pass for PC for $1
    7. Buy 1 month of Xbox Game pass Ultimate for $1

All together my subscription is valid until 21/01/2022 which is $3.80 per month in my case.
    (13+13+2+1+1=30months)

(I dont know if you can get extra free month when buying Xbox Game Pass for PC as I used my Microsoft $ balance to pay off the $1)

  • +1

XBL Ultimate upgrade of 36 mths for $1 still active - I'm subbed to Ultimate until 20/07/22

  • Still active, good to go until 2022!

  • This offer is still valid (thanks to the mods for amending this thread).

    Well worth it imho.

  • +1

purchased an extra 12 months via cdkeys for $71
then when I redeemed the code on PC, it asked me if I wanted to turn on recurring payments for a bonus month, which I did.
upgraded to gamepass ultimate for $1 and then turned off auto payments - all good.

    thanks OP
    .

    • If you turn off recurring payments after redeeming the code then you will be offered an extra free month of gamepass ultimate for enabling recurring payments when you activate the $1 conversion.

  • So just to clarify, I can buy two of these

    https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/12-month-xbox-l…

Then do the tunnelbear thing and redeem on a normal AUS account as long as the VPN thinks I'm in Brazil? Thanks

    • I'm wanting to check this too. These are currently showing as $49.49 and say "only works on Brazil Xbox Live".

Anyone confirm that with the VPN trick then these will still work on an Aus account?

    • +2

Yea you can do that no problems, enable recurring payment when activating the first code and it will give you an extra month free. Disable recurring payments in your MS account settings then activate the second code and it will give you an extra month free for enabling recurring payments again. Disable recurring payments in account settings once more. Turn off your VPN and buy the $1 gamepass ultimate and then it will prompt you for recurring payments to get an extra month then disable recurring payments again.

      12+1 12+1 1+1 = 28 months of gamepass ultimate

      • +1

        Thanks for the reply.

Did all of that - bought 2 x 12 month keys and got 27 months of Ultimate now for less than $100.

Nice that the keys are even cheaper than when the thread started.

      • Thanks for the help mate, got 12+1+12+1+1, didn't get a prompt for a third bonus month but oh well, paid up to May 2022 for under $100, good deal.

  • This deal has changed to $2 for 2 months of Xbox Live Ultimate.

Can the OP please change the title/description.

Also, this is expiring in less than a month (I forget how many days left, but I think it was 20+ days left).

It still has the conversion of all your current Xbox Live Gold subscription to Ultimate (it's in the "read more" section.

  • So from my understanding PC only owners and users don't have any need or cannot use anything in Ultimate since that is an amalgamation of Xbox Live Xbox Gold and Xbox Game Pass and there are no benefits for PC only owners and user in which case Xbox Game Pass for PC is the only thing PC users can utilise at this very moment is this correct.

  • +1

For anyone searching/wondering about this, YES it still works!

You should NOT have an active Game Pass subscription, otherwise this conversion won't work. Cancel it or let it lapse first before doing this

    Here's how I did it:

    • Purchase 2 of these 12 Months XBOX Live Gold from CDKeys.
    • Connect to a Brazil POP via VPN
    • Redeem the first code which will give you an extra month for Recurring payment
    • Disable Recurring payment
    • Redeem the second code which will give you an extra month for Recurring payment
    • Disable Recurring payment
    • Dssconnect from VPN
    • Join Game Pass Ultimate for $1 and it will convert your remaining Live Gold subscription to Game Pass Ultimate
    • Disable Recurring payment

    12+1 12+1 1+1 = 28 months of Game Pass Ultimate

    Huzzah!
