Merino Wool Quilts (Australian Made) from $42.40 Delivered @ Linen Dreams eBay

2301
PLOUGH

Australian Made Merino Woollen Quilts

  • Members went fully postal last time for these high-quality quilts, and tonight's low of 7 degrees (Sydney) and 9 degrees (Melbourne) together with a new 20% off coupon makes it a good time to do it all again.

  • Weight ratings: 200GSM, 350GSM, 500GSM and 700GSM (grams/square metre).

  • Sizes: Cot/Cotbed, Single, King Single, Double, Queen, King and Super King.

  • So a typical Queen 700GSM (their warmest) comes out at $78.40 delivered.

  • These are DRY-CLEAN ONLY. They do sell machine-washable quilts where the Merino Wool goes through an additional process whereby the wool is pre-shrunk then coated in a light layer of resin to prevent shrinkage (so they're more expensive). In my area dry-cleaning for a Queen-sized woollen quilt hits around $60.00.

Over 20,000 sales on that link alone and a near-perfect 99.9% eBay rating. Wow.

Part of the 20% off 248 Sellers sale.
Part of the 20% off 59 Selected Sellers sale.

Now PAY CLOSE ATTENTION or you'll MISS OUT.

  • Firstly, make sure you apply the PEOFY PLOUGH 20% off coupon at checkout (NB: min spend $50 before discount).

  • Secondly, The Phantom has been on their case, and this time **IF you include my fav code 'PHANTOMFREEBIE' in the eBay "Message to seller" field AT CHECKOUT, they'll throw in an Egyptian Cotton Hand Towel (random colour) for each quilt purchased (until they run out - 500 in stock). UPDATE 8pm 5/6: As they've now blown 500 sales they've likely run out of the freebie, but slot the code in there anyway just in case…

  • IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THAT PROCEDURE IT WON'T WORK. Please, pretty please, do not send an email or eBay message as they don't have the staff to deal with that kind of dislocated carnage.

Note they've only got so many of these in stock and ready to ship, and they're the ones they'll sell as part of this sale. That means they might sell out. No manufacturing to order this time…

For those that got this far, they also have the following at 20% off:

Notes:

  • May not post to some regions, and may charge a little more in some areas (eg: WA metro) - the postage tab in the eBay ad has some details.
  • These are not for you if you have an allergy to natural wool.

Are people sleeping nude even in winter? I wear appropriate winter PJs (fleece) and I'm still SWEATING underneath a 250gsm! No heater in the bedroom but decent insulation. Ambient temperature is still pretty damn cold but I wake up from being TOO sweaty sometimes in Melbourne. I also have a 350gsm to clip on and I really can't imagine it gets cold enough to do that…

  • +1

wow.. it's selling so quickly… washable one is almost sold out except double size for 500 & 700GSM.

  • What are people buying for quilt covers? I bought a king size quilt and the cheapest cotton cover I can find is more than the quilt itself?

  • +2

Ordered a 700 gsm king size from the last time deal. They sent a queen size quilt. After a lot of back and forth messages and photos, they still didn't exchange. It's a decent quilt but wasn't what the customer service I hoped for

    • Well if that's the case then it's not on, though i think it's the first real criticism i've heard of this outfit. I've raised it with them but it might take me a while to get back to you. PM details if you're happy to. It's only a month ago so not too late in my view. Queen is 210 x 210cm, King 240 x 210cm - that's a full 30cm so should be pretty obvious if it's wrong.

    • +2

What was the back and forth? They sent the wrong size so they organise a return.

If not, ebay dispute should fix it. I used to care about raising a dispute but now I only wait 48hrs of receiving a product if they don't help.

      • You wait that long….. Patience, I clearly don't have that

      • That individual case has been resolved, and hopefully they'll do better next time especially when folk are referred via OzBargain.

I'd say it's unusual though - you don't get the eBay ratings and sales volume they have without getting a lot right.

  • How does this compare to Mini Jumbuk in terms of quality and comfort?

  • Very enticing but I think the worst part of winter is over. It was just getting it out of its system.

    • +1

Is that a joke? Winter has only just started…

  • Australian Made quilted mattress protectors(ebay.com.au). You can buy these independently as there's no minimum spend on this coupon. So a typical Queen would cost $23.85 delivered.

Any idea on the gsm of these?

    • There's no wool in them - cotton cover & polyester filling according to the eBay listing. Not sure how breathable that would be, or whether that's really that important for a mattress protector anyway.

I've got a couple and they're a similar thickness to what i've bought from the main stores like Kmart etc. The thing going for these is they have a 40cm stretchable skirt (not lousy corner straps), and they're deep enough to handle the cheap pocket spring mattresses that have been advertised on OB over the last few months.

out of stock on the one i wanted so i got this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/All-Size-AUS-MADE-100-Merino-Woo…

    Thanks Op

    • Looks identical to their main listing. Hope they've adjusted their eBay stock levels to ensure they have them…

  • I suspect I'll get downvoted for this, but I think it's important for people to know what they're putting their money into. I didn't know what happens in the wool industry until recently. Do you?

I'd encourage you to do your own research before buying, but here's a link to start you off. https://www.animalsaustralia.org/issues/stop-sheep-cruelty.p…

    • The practice of mulesing has come up before, which is fair enough. The article i linked to on that occasion seemed to cover some of the issues well. Interesting that some sheep farmers manage without it.

  • Out of stock for some of the 700 GSM ones (only 2 sizes available).
I was after the Washable - Single Size - 700 GSM which is out of stock now. :(

  • Pretty much all gone….

      • Same link as up here. They say they'll meet orders with their other links, so you should be fine…

While i'm pretty certain that's an identical product (Australian Made, Merino - just a separate listing for 500GSM), just be alive to the fact they also import some gear - especially bamboo-based stuff. I would always look for 'Australian Made' and 'Merino' somewhere in their ad. 'Machine-washable' is a bonus.

      • That's only 500gsm, I wanted the 700 for those cold cold southern winters.
Your link seems to be a little more expensive too.

        • PM they seller on ebay they might work something out for you

Received the quilt and hand towel. Hand towel is a great freebie but just average quality. The quilt on the other hand is very good quality and quite thick, I highly recommend it. I got a 700GSM Queen and and from the packaging, it looks way thicker than the warmest wool (5 warmth rating) from Target. Target one looks about 500GSM in comparison. The cotton on this is also of better quality and so is the stitching. Will have a closer look for any defects and report back after use.

    • Glad you like it. I've got the 700GSM and it's massive. And yeah the fabric with its patterning works for me too.

I've got quite a few of the handtowels and didn't think of giving my own review. But anyway they're certainly absorbent and on the large size, however they're relatively thin but that works for me as they dry quickly. Cheers.

    • So the blanket is quite warm but my house is rather cold so I use an additional one over the top. Reduced my number of blankets from 3 to 2 however.

The towel is quite absorbent and does the job, quite thin and dries quickly. Overall an excellent purchase!

  • These seem to back on with a new code for those that missed out.

    • This item can't be purchased because this item can't be sent to your postage address. (WA)

      That's disappointing.

      • Some folk raised issues with WA earlier, as the eBay ad isn't entirely clear. However if you're in Perth it should work.

Why not pop them an eBay message referencing this post requesting how to get it posted?

    • Still no changes to the stock for Washable 700GSM :(

      • Do you have a link. I think washable would be good.

        • It's buried in line #6 of the post/novella.

  • So happy with the quality of my mattress topper, thanks OP!!

    • You mean this?

I'm not so familiar with them.
Great if you could give a more detailed review & compare with anything similar you've used in the past.

Got my 500gsm double quilt end of last week and used it over the last few nights. It's great quality and keeps me toasty with just a cotton sheet underneath!

    Thanks OP!

  • +2

Just got my 500gsm double quilt. I decided to pay up for the machine washable version. Have to say I'm disappointed though. Very poor stitching (loose threads and holes). I know the deal is expired but I thought it would be beneficial to comment for future potential buyers.

    • I haven't seen any of the machine washable ones but i can't see why the quality of the stitching should be any different. (EDIT: actually yes i have - the 200GSM one i have is meant to be one of them and the stitching is fine).

I'd send it back - no point having something that will fall apart in the near/medium term. These should last years. I suggest you ask for a return postage label and let me know if you don't get anywhere as it's important feedback for me when i deal with them.

BTW when did you order and did it fit in with the eBay advertised delivery time?

  • Silly kitten that my wife and daughter had to have (already have a beautiful cat) weed on my daughter's 500GSM King quilt. To get it dry cleaned was $65 so may as well buy a new one for not much more. For giggles, I've washed the soiled quilt to see what happens. Very difficult to fit in my 8.5kg washing machine though…

    • What happened?

      • It's perfectly fine! No idea why it didn't end catastrophically. All I did was wash it on the wool setting of my front loader and hung it out to dry on the pool fence for two days. I still bought another one anyway and as it didn't arrive by the ebay guaranteed delivery date, ebay gave me a $10 ebay voucher. I'm bi-winning! Win here, win there, win everywhere… /Sheen
