How does this compare with Samsung S3 Frontier?

    • Tizen is smoother and nicer design. WearOS feels laggy. But I like google pay because it accepts Bankwest. Also i feel the design on Ticwatch is nicer. In the end I think it comes down to personal preference.

  • WearOS vs Tizen
Google Play Store vs Samsung’s Galaxy Apps

    depends on who you ask.

  • This watch's big thing is it kinda has 2 screens - sandwiched one on top of the other - so you can get a full smart watch experience, but then choose to switch to an old fashioned kinda of watch display to make to battery last weeks. I have a Fossil watch running WearOS and it's perfectly serviceable.

Really want this for the Google Pay and Authenticator but it seems there are mixed reports of it being unresponsive.

Google pay worked fine for me.
      Did not use Authenticator.

  • A word of advice for those taking this (very worthwhile) deal:
Insure you are using a 1 AMP dumb charger. I damaged one unit charging it from a Samsung quick charger.
(the unit comes only with a USB dock, no wall charger provided).

    • so you can't quick charge these Ticwatch Pros? I kind of find that weird, normally the devices are set to only request maximum volt/amps it needs.

There is something wrong with the implementation.

Better safe than sorry (like me)
Price compares very favorable with the special deal I got from Kogan (which refunded the broken item).
I will most likely order this before the end of the day.

        • apparently its the charger/cradle that blows, not the watch. Which i guess is not that bad i guess though you can't really charge the watch any other standard way without the cradle.

          • @bogak: You can get replacement cradles though…
I sent mine back to Kogan and they deemed it dead and refunded.

        • There is something wrong with the implementation.

Yeah, TicWatch clearly stuffed something up with the design. Other devices have no problem at all. Maybe the charging base is triggering the higher-voltage charge on QC chargers. There would normally be absolutely no issue at all using a fast charger with a low-current device.

I charge mine on a 500mA charger - and it's full within an hour. Why is anyone in need of anything like QC for a watch with a tiny battery?

        • +3

because i use the same charger for everything?

          • @kingmoron: Better not for this.

          • @kingmoron: Personally I hate trying to plug a USB cable in, turn it around and try again, then have to try the first way again…

So I just have a separate charger for each cable.

  • cant decide between this and the S3 Frontier
