This or a 1tb seagate barracuda hdd?

    • +2

HDD, because we all love waiting.

      • It ain't real if it ain't movin'

  • Wondering if this would be worth it for my Synology ds918+

    • Exactly what I'm thinking!

      • +2

My initial reading indicates there's not much value unless you are streaming a lot of HD content e.g. plex

        • That's exactly what mine is for + all the docker applications should hopefully end up on the cache
I wish it could be used as a normal disk not just as cache…

          • @thesab: Agreed.

I'm only in the process of setting up my NAS right now. Would be great to hear about your docker apps

            • @isthisreallife22: Mine is still fairly new as well, just migrated from a unraid setup
I just have sonarr, radarr and working on home assistant at the moment

              • @thesab: I have hass on a raspberry pi but was thinking it would be nice to run it on the Nas instead

                • @isthisreallife22: My biggest issue so far is not being able to run hass.io in docker, that's what is holding me back at the moment
I understand why it doesn't work its just a bit of a pain, research seems to show that I have to run the various plugins in separate dockers

hardly the cheapest for either - its shopping square by another name
1tb reckon ple better because if there is issue they will see you right normally
500gb another no-name shop is better on ebay.

good drive good price good warranty but lousy seller.

Good price. I have the same one for my desktop HP 800 G1. I have to get a Pcie X4 card to install this SSD, but I cannot use this SSD as a boot drive because my PC will not allow. I can still this SSD as a data drive with about 1800 GB read and 800 MB write. About 3/4 times faster than my SATA SSD.

The SSD specs aren't as fast as current Gen 3 speeds (2,000/1,750 MB/s vs 3400/3000) so I guess these are older standards.

Better to pay an extra $25 to get a Gen 3x4 1TB at amazon:

    Don't forget 3.5% Cashrewards too.

  • this would have been a great deal if I didn't run out of m.2 slots in my laptop.

I will upgrade my m.2 2280 from Samsung when these Nvme drives are cheaper than $100 for a Tb.

  • Crucial P1 both 500GB and 1TB slightly cheaper at UMART $89 (https://www.umart.com.au/Crucial-P1-500GB-3D-NAND-NVMe-PCIe-…) and $169 (https://www.umart.com.au/Crucial-P1-1TB-3D-NAND-NVMe-PCIe-M-…) respectively, if you have one near you and can pick up.

Unless if you use discounted eBay gift cards.
