Hope the neighbour gets one so I can pinch a loaf

I always wanted to get into baking. I heard there was plenty of dough to be made.

Thanks OP! This was the bread maker that had been recommended to me ages ago, and I couldn't justify the original $300ish it normally costs… but this is doable!

Shopback cashback is 8% for Kitchen and Dining I believe, so $244.43 via that

      You made the rye-t choice.

Do you hear that ? it's the malnourished screams of anyone on keto ;-)

I would love this, especially setting it for brekky bake. that smell is unreal.

but would probably only use it twice on account of not having the foresight to stock ingredients or set it the night before.

Sometimes it's not all about the dough..

I'm a baker by trade and own this bread machine and the Panasonic sd-2501.

This machine is great because you can customise the programs which means you can stop the program to allow for more rising or to knead a bit longer.. Auto lyse periods arent a thing on the white cycle either which is good, it's there for wholemeal and rye though.

Only real problem is the top of the loaves come out too pale and the sides too dark.

    Overall, I give this machine a 3/5.

Panasonic sd-2501 will give better results for many other people on the Large and dark settings. Quite consistent even using a laucke bread mix. You also get a much softer loaf with default recipes in the manuals.
    Panasonic would be a 4/5.

Personally I use a kenwood, Brod and Taylor bread proofer and a Grants baking tin. It's much more expensive option though but is equal to Baker's delight bread.

    • Do you have any recommendation for bread proofer that won’t hit the wallet and size at home (other then microwave as a proofer box?
I own kenwood bread machine, but struggle to proof outside the box.

Bread proofers are not an item people often buy. As a result it's an extremely small market and they're all expensive.
It's a bit like flour milling machines/stoneground milling machines and other bakery tools.

I imported my Brod and Taylor from Bakery Bits in the UK was around $200AUD.

        • Oh.my.god. I love that proofer. Thanks!

    • any chance you'd know where i could get my hands on a pullman loaf type pan? basically looking for 600g sized loaf tin with a lid for sandwiches that doesnt cost $100

Get the Panasonic SD2501. No bread maker comes close.

      What this guy said..

It is a better machine, I think the pale loaves on top is caused by the glass viewing screen on the Breville. Glass isn't a conductor of heat, nor can it relfect heat. But look, I could be totally wrong.. It's just my findings.

Either way, if anyone here with a bread machine wants to make Cole's Bakery Bread they just use Allied Mills or Allied Pinnacle Soft Bread and Roll Mix or Super Soft Roll Mix or Allied Mills / Allied Pinnacle Crusty flour with half a block of fresh yeast per bag of flour (12.5kg bag) and 7.2LT of water. Those 2 flours covers the entire Cole's range excluding Hot cross buns, that uses allied pinnacle bun mix.

You can use a calc for smaller measurements.

  • I thought your description was pretty crummy

    • Looks like I need to rise up to the occasion.
