  • It'll work great until China randomly cuts of server access to foreigners then you'll have a useless camera or need to hack it.

    • what do you mean by hack it?

    • so true lol,

purchased myself annke only to find out, sannce/annke/ dahua? / hikvision all going to mother server ezviz in china.
imagine that, thought you are the only one watching your family, but somewhere in china, in a dark room, some prying eye is probably also watching.

i wonder where swann camera connects to, anyone know?

      • Re Hikvision etc - A basic VLAN will block any attempted outgoing/home-bound traffic.

Although it won't work for Xiaomi (etc) cameras (unless you flash them with hacked firmware) - they NEED internet access or they will refuse to work.

      • +3

I dont think you are worth to be watched by these prying eyes. really.

        • and an interpreter costs a bit extra.

    • mine still works even though it was blocked from China. You will need to email [email protected], ask them for activation as you are outside of china. they will ask for proof of purchase [digital receipt or screenshot] and a picture of the items MAC address or barcode thingy. and voila, permanently activated forever outside of china. my 2 cents…oh even with the hack, it will work with the hack for rstp and also work with MiHome app. :D

      • Yeah, I did that last night. Previously it wasn't giving me the details because of old versions of firmware and/or app. Currently waiting to see if they unblock it.

    dafang vs this?

on night mode, are there any led lights so theft can find the cam easily?

    • +4

LEDs can be turned off. No idea on comparison but i have a couple of these and they've been good so far - plus I have China watching my stuff for me.

  • Is this the latest model as the photo shown is an older version?

  • Is it 10 fps?

  • +5

I bought five dafang (xiaomi) 1080p cameras, they were all bricked in March this year when Xiaomi geoblocked them. Wouldn't buy xiaomi cameras again. Real pity as I was a huge xiaomi fanboi until march.

    • You looking to sell them?

      • Sure, if you're in melb send me a PM. Was going to reflash them with some custom firmware but CBF dealing with xiaomi stuff anymore.

        • Do you have a link to the custom firmware?
Mine were brick since March this year as well.

        • I have PMd you

          • @wikiwiki: In the same boat. Although one camera survived somehow. Can I also have the link, pretty please?

            • @sean85: Can you please send me the link as well. Thanks in advance

          • @wikiwiki: Hi, did you get a chance to PMd me?
            Thanks again.

            • @congo: @congo I PMd @slknv to buy his cameras. You're after his link.

        • I would also like the link, please

        • @slknv - Me too please! mine are just sitting here gathering dust…

        • @slknv did you get my PM?

    • Does this happen even with the setting set as mainland china? I hope this does not happen to mine, i have 2 Dafang and 3 Xiaofang cameras still running 24/7 and i update to newest firmware in both camera and Mi home app when they get released.

      • +1

Same. Had no issues so far with my two Dafangs either (touch wood). I send the video real-time to my NAS - works a charm.

      • Avoid updating firmware and don't change WiFi network

    • I have one Xiaomi camera, it still works fine now, I am in Sydney. change the server to mainland china, see whether it works.

    • urm…if you email [email protected]. you might have a chance still. i did mine a few months after the march geo block. i semi detailed what i could remember the top of my mind as mine was geo locked too since maarch. its usable now. just that on MiHome app i would still have to use China as main server. with hack it will still work.

i detailed a bit of the steps in a reply above. do give it a try. its a waste those xiaofang's are lying around.

I suppose all the fools joking about China voted for the Laberals who actually operate a police state, collecting everything they do, rather than The Greens who have voted against every piece of legislation that cemented the Australian police state.

Sleeping zombie levels of understanding going on here.

    • +1

The Greens, and anyone who voted for them, blows.

    • +1

I totally agree, the amount of sleepwalking in this country is a shock.

    • A greens state is nearly as bad as a police state.

  • Does this one come with motion tracking?

    • No

  • So does this model have any custom firmware available? Interested in this one specifically due to the h265 encoding.

  • Has anyone else had trouble pairing this? I’ve tried everything. Won’t scan qr code and Bluetooth connection doesn’t appear on my phone. Restarted phone and camera and still nothing

  • Got mine this week. Mi Home app was a bit rubbish to use but eventually managed to get it working. so far quite impressed. was more worried about it not being detected/working at all (like a Mi Wifi Repeater 2 I have - does anyone have thoughts on how to fix this?)
