    Extra info I found today:
    * Early repayment is fine
    * Income checks will be done via an online process where you need to give online banking details (so: change your password, then provide them if comfortable, then change credentials)
    * You'll need to go over a full contact details / address / income check over the phone
    * If your credit isn't "excellent" (mine is "very good"), the establishment fee was about 3% of the loan (within norms of other banks/RateSetter)
—this can be reduced significantly using a secured loan, dropped about 70% in my case

This is a deal for only this week. After this week, the rate goes up 5% (in my case). If you need longer, they may be able to extend this with a "pre-approval" that gives you a month to make the purchase, but costs you $150 if you don't proceed if you do the pre-approval.

It's definitely better than a bank will give you, but only if you can proceed this week / are sure you'll proceed after pre-approval this month.

It's a fair offer but I won't need it for another month or two, then 12% kills it for me - larger credit cards with balance transfers it is then.

    • If you give me your online banking credentials I can also arrange finance on very generous terms via my cousin from Nigeria.

      • I actually found this really funny, though in all serious, the service we use for income verification is provided by illion (formerly known as Dun & Bradstreet). It is the same service used by the likes of Zip, Macquarie, Pepper, and many other lenders.

You can find out more about the service here: https://bankstatements.com.au/

        • Seriously, I can't see anything there about what's to stop illium, or some rogue employee from illium, emptying my account instead of just downloading my statement. Simply seeing the words "highly secure" doesn't mean it's not dangerous to do this?

          • @CacheHunter: The only thing that may stop this happening is 2FA/SMS verification on fund withdrawal & transfer. It won't stop a hacker from hijacking your mobile number for the SMS and then emptying your account. 2FA via a banking app will be safer.

        • How the hell is handing over your personal banking login credentials an encouraged practice?! Get outta here!

  • I kinda feel like anyone that truly enshrines the ozbargain within them wouldn't be caught dead paying interest on a personal loan.

Or if unfortunate circumstances have left then with one, they'll be trying to roll it into the lowest rate loan they can get.

  • For some reason my credit score on experian is much higher than equifax. Not sure why credit providers prefer equifax, but I do not prefer them :)

  • Didn't qualify for excellent credit but they beat what my bank could offer + no early repayment fees, still was worth it as an easy way to save money refinancing my credit card

  • Applied at 1pm today (sunday), had instant email contact, uploaded financial details and was all fully approved by 3pm.
Locked in the great rate of 7.69% - 2% better than my bank was offering, approval for the bank was 3 full business days…
Cant recommend these guys more - so far anyway :)
