    Perfect for casting directors.

    • Hope it wipes clean easily.

  • +2

Looks very uncomfortable. No chance of lying down on that thing.

    • It's not about the comfort, it's about the adjustable position.

      • +3

I have a couch that reclines and it doesn't have those stupid dips all over it. Not sure why they designed it like that.

        • How much did you pay for yours?

          • @Pricebeat: Of course more than this couch, for starters it's real leather. However my comments are related to the design.

    Bonded shmonded

    • +1

Yeap, enjoy your new couch for a couple of years if you buy one…

      • +1

PU garbage won't last a year. 4 months if lucky.

Unsustainable material should be banned on anything worth more than $5

        • +1

Should just be banned altogether if you ask me.

I'd be surprised if that 'recliner' got 2 years of service before the leather starts peeling or tears and you are wondering when the next council waste collection pick up is. At that price point, hit gumtree and search for a quality second hand leather sofa from a brand like Natuzzi.

  • Bonded Leather

Oh jeez, the last bonded leather belt I had fell apart on the second wear.

    Imagine a sofa lol

    • +3

It will fall apart on second netflix and chill.

  • +1

Wake me up when it's bondage leather…

    • +1

This will be show-cased at next ozbargain meetup

  • +10

They shouldn't be allowed to use the term "leather" at all, its bullcrap.

Bonded Leather, PE Leather, PU Leather, Faux Leather… all synthetic, and NOT Leather.

Either call it Polyurethane or Plastic. Dodgy.

  • $551 or so posted to my place :( Bit of a deal killer for me but still good. Will give it a miss though

  • fake leather!

    Free shipping with Club Catch??

    • +1

Unfortunately club catch doesn’t apply to third party sellers.

      • +1

Ahh well. Thanks for the info.

Would be well worth it if it did apply in this case.

  • For all the "pure leather" snobs

Some PU leather can last a good 8 years. Some can last 6 months.
We have some good quality Super Amart PU leather still going strong after 6 years. Looks like new.

PU leather of a decent quality is a good choice for families with young children on a budget. We're not all Liberal voting millionaires sipping Soy decaf lattes with Mal Turnbull…

Good luck finding a real leather equivalent for less than $400….

    • +1

Good luck finding a real leather equivalent for less than $400….

Exactly! This is same as comparing Sharp aquos s3 with Galaxy s10 and saying Sharp won’t last long or fake mobile.

    • +3

Some PU leather can last a good 8 years. Some can last 6 months.

Right so you're happy to take a gamble just to get a fake leather look. Have you ever heard the term "poor man pays twice"? Cause that's exactly the kind of thing it's referring to!

Why not just go with a different material that will last?

      • PU leather is easy to clean.

Its inexpensive so you are not panicking every time the kids spill Coke on it or someone spills beer.

Fabric sofas could potentially last longer but are harder to clean. They may not also look as good in your home design.

I dont know this brand, you can gauge the quality a little bit looking in the showroom - but buying blind you are taking a risk.

This is a proper sofa. For this price you can get a fully foam sofa which would be total crap.

This wouldnt buy you 1/3 of a leather recliner in Harvey Norman.

Arguably you could get a good 2nd hand genuine leather sofa, but then you are looking at new vs second hand.

        • I'm sorry but no, you cannot tell how long PU "leather" is going to last just by looking at it in the showroom. You wouldn't even know how old it was for starters…

Fabrics can also be treated to help prevent stains and assist with cleaning. Or, you know, keep your kids off the couch while they're eating like we do.

@Singu1arity: So add more expense to your $4000 genuine leather lounge by doing a $500+ fabric treatment.

I would rather get a brand new PU lounge every 3 years…

30 years, 10 new lounges - they are gonna look a lot better than a crud covered 30 year old real leather lounge….

Also PU leather generally doesnt have that crinkled old elephant skin look that a lot genuine leather lounges do.
IMHO some genuine leather lounges look crap brand new, let alone used.

I prefer the tight, non saggy look. PU is fine for my needs and budget.

      • +2

…or buy something quality secondhand that you know will last.

      • Didn’t Kerry Packer say you only get one Alan Bonded in your lifetime?

  • Nasty, cheap Vinyl sofa.

'Bonded leather' biggest bullcrap term I have heard today.
    Its vinyl.
    Its nasty and cheap

Neg for misleading term "Bonded leather"

    • Its nasty and cheap

Isn't that what ozbargain is about. anything better you can suggest for this price?

      • Would rather sit on a milk crate $9.95 or free if you pinch one.

        • That's not the point though and floor would be free to sit on (if you paid off mortgage)
Quality stuff comes with higher price tag. This is lower price tag with lower quality stuff unless you can point out a better alternative?

I was looking for a recliner to put in a share house and wouldn't spend $15K just for others to ruin it. So this is something I would be looking at.

          • +1

@Pricebeat: Its the bulldust 'Bonded leather' term. Its bordering on fraudulent advertising.
Leather is defined specifically and only as animal hide.
If they sell it as "Vinyl Sofa" no problem at all
