That's what you are gonna complain about? Really? Do you even know the difference between them?

      • -5

Depends how important the built in security features are to you… For me, it's a deal breaker.

        • I bet it is. First Google link suggests it's completely irrelevant to the overwhelming number of people.

It all comes down to this: do you need features such as Client Hyper-V, which is a built-in virtualisation solution in Windows. Does your work require you to connect to a Windows domain? If yes, you should purchase the Pro edition. Else, the Home edition is what you need

          • -2

            @scuderiarmani:

            I bet it is

Many networks won't let you connect with Windows 10 Home.

            • @jv: Cool. Go spend $10 getting a pro key and as an added bonus you can have a clean install.

Like that's a deal breaker on a gtx 2070 144hz laptop…. You are really clutching.

What's next the box is a funny colour?

              • @scuderiarmani:

                Like that's a deal breaker

                It is for me…

                • @jv: You were never gonna buy it.

                  • @scuderiarmani: Not with Windows 10 Home.

                    How many did you buy?

                    • +1

@jv: How many helpful or constructive comments have you posted?

                        @scuderiarmani: I've lost count.

                        How about you?

                        • @jv: Please tell me why this is so useful to you on a gaming laptop that would prevent you paying $10 to 'fix'

What do you get with Windows 10 Pro
The Pro edition of Windows 10, in addition to all of Home edition's features, offers sophisticated connectivity and privacy tools such as Domain Join, Group Policy Management, Bitlocker, Enterprise Mode Internet Explorer (EMIE), Assigned Access 8.1, Remote Desktop, Client Hyper-V, and Direct Access.

See… I told you it was much better…

                          • @scuderiarmani: AFAIK, Direct Access is a Windows 10 Enterprise-only feature

                            • @pwrusr-com: You need to have Windows 10 Pro though to connect. It's a requirement at many schools.

                              • @jv: Cool. $10.

Bet you really need a 2070 and 144hz for a school laptop too….

                                Some amazing PowerPoint presentations hey…

                                  • @jv: Yeah, I bet they all buy $3k 2070 laptops.

                                    Keep. Clutching.

                                    And can't afford a $10 key..

@jv: Not that I expect anyone of note is actually going to see this, HOWEVER, I feel I should include this. Schools particularly, or other semi controlled IT environments where people aren't issued a device, should be moving away from adding these 3rd party devices to a domain. A "BYOD" policy should be set up, which works fine for Windows 10 Home devices. And before anyone mentions it, Windows 7 has just over 6 months of support left. Any large organisation should be on Win10 or well and truly ready to roll it out; WITH a BYOD policy ready if they're going to be facing people bringing their own devices.

Home should not restrict BYOD use. Features such as virtualisation, remote desktop, and bitlocker support and AD/domains will be critical for company provisioned devices for SMBs.

                                See example below:
                                https://samuelmcneill.com/2017/05/30/enrolling-a-windows-10-…

    Not really recommend

    • Hi Forrest,
We strive to stock only quality products.
As you've blocked messages would you like to explain why they aren't recommended, preferably shooting us a DM.
We are interested in consumers opinions and why this caused you to downvote the deal.
      Kind Regards
      OP

      • -7

There is no doubt that It has great spec at this price point. But I would recommend this because I had bad experience with infinity laptop and the service were REALLY poor.

Also, for those who wants to buy, there is a deal with more competitive price.

Are you seriously comparing a model with a 1660ti and half the SSD??? Let alone smaller screen?

Thats the most invalid negative vote going.

          • -5

@scuderiarmani: 1660ti will handle most games that an ordinary person will play with the LAPTOP, again, with LAPTOP.
Would you add 1000 AUD because of its addition Thing. I wouldn't. Again, it is just a laptop. What really makes a difference with 2 inches

            • +6

@forrest 123: So what? You are comparing something completely different.

Well a Kia is cheaper than a Mercedes, so all Mercedes are shit hey?

Your negative is completely irrelevant and wrong.

              • @scuderiarmani: You didn't get my point, I didn't say it is not good value with its specification only. But when we buy laptop, we consider its service as well.
When we look at its spec, it is nice. But I had experience with infinity laptop. I personally wouldn't recommend this as its service is poor. It is reason it give downvote
The 1660ti is to give a reference, is it worth while to add 1000 more for graphic that is enough for most of us, do you need extra 500g SSD. Is it better for people to go for 1660ti.
So I would say it is enough for you to spend 2000 on this laptop. You wouldn't feel happy spending 3k on this considering its bad service. It is just advice I give.

                • +1

@forrest 123: That's nice. None of that is relevant.

I don't need a 2080 Graphics Card cause you suggest a 1660ti is all I need to game?

I suppose you think dial up internet is all you need too. Who needs storage? Are you for real?

1000 more for twice the storage, better GPU and monitor is more than justifiable.

Whether you think that it is worth the increased cost is completely irrelevant.

                  • -2

@scuderiarmani: DON'T FORGOT THERE IS A THING CALLED COMPUTER
Does your assumption suit most people, or at least people who looking for gaming laptop through ozbargain

                    • +1

@forrest 123: Huh?!?!?! Go buy a Ryzen APU, they game why bother with a 1660ti?

You don't understand the simple concept.

You not feeling a much higher spec 2070 machine is necessary over a 1660ti doesn't justify a negative.

                      • @scuderiarmani: Alright,
I believe there is no sense to persuade other people, we will see how many positive votes by tomorrow.

                • +1

@forrest 123: Not sure which of these to reply to!

The value of this $3000 vs the cheaper $2000 is "60fps gaming" for the $2k vs "high fps (100+)" gaming for the $3k. If you want to be consistently hitting over 120fps on the latest games, you're going to be wanting the $3k laptop (is 60fps adequate? Probably…but depends what you want and can afford.

The other big one with the $3k laptop is Ray tracing. As more games support ray tracing (be it nvidia or directx implementation) the slower 1660ti will barely do it, even at 30fps.

              • -1

                @scuderiarmani:

so all Mercedes are shit hey?

There are couple of models that aren't, but yes, most are rubbish.

            • +1

@forrest 123: Please stop using personal opinion to influence your vote like this as this is irrelevant to the actual promotion

              • @CGB Solutions: I always believe there should be two different voices, so people get an idea and makes comparison of what actually suits them. I send those because I would like to give people a broader view.
                No offence

                • +4

@forrest 123: No you are giving this a negative because you think people should buy lesser equipment as this is too powerful.

                  Thats just incredible.

                • @forrest 123: Alright,
I believe there is no sense to persuade other people, we will see how many positive votes by tomorrow.

                  • @forrest 123: No. It seems like you have a different reason. A new user only posting on laptop deals….

Find a cheaper price for the SAME thing and you are more than justified.

                    • @scuderiarmani: I am saying i wouldn't spend 3k on this product from my experience.
It is not that easy to buy a product.
                      Service is really important.

        • +1

          Hi Forest,
You do realise you're comparing a 1660TI deal with a 2070 laptop deal.
The service you received from infinity has nothing to do with our deal or our service regarding this model.
If you would remove your irrelevant downvote that would be greatly appreciated
          Kind Regards

voting is simple - Is it a bargain? If YES, plus vote. Not a bargain? Neg it (and share alternative options that have the SAME specs at a lower price). That's it really.

          • +1

            @pwrusr-com:

            Not a bargain? Neg it

That's actually not true, read the voting rules.

            • @jv: In my interpretation of the rules, "Not a bargain" = "The deal is not the cheapest available"

              • +1

                @pwrusr-com: Not necessarily…

Lots of rubbish gets posted here where you can't find it cheaper, but it's still not really good value, so I wouldn't consider it a bargain…

  • +3

Cheapest similar spec laptops on ebay are upwards of $500 more. Seems good on face value. MSI equivalent $900 more….

  • Higher resolution screen would have been nicer on a 17.3 inch laptop

    • It's a typical panel in a gaming laptop, many would prefer the refresh rate over resolution. I myself aren't a heavy gamer so I'd prefer the increased real estate, but can see why it's the way it is.

    • 'though (given it's a gaming laptop) this maybe detrimental b/c with this laptop you may wish to "hit" 144fps most of the time to have a better gaming experience.

In other words, given the IPS lcd is rated 144Hz, it is beneficial to get 144fps while gaming so if you had a panel with a higher res, the gpu would have to work harder and therefore be less likely to hit 144fps

    • Just because it's the norm for major manufacturers doesn't mean it's necessary. 1080p is fine for 17". In addition, this panel is 144hz, which is significantly more important for gaming than it is for anything else.

      Hi Pwrusr,
We have checked with our supplier,
All models do support Windows Hello

  • …but can it run Crysis?

  • +1

Does it throttle? Any temps or cooling info?

    • +1 for this. My MSI throttles back something fierce. About 25% off peak flops on synth benchmarks. Important question for these thing gaming laptops.

    • +1

      Hi Shiny,
As far as we are aware from our experience, no.
The Infinity has two fans at the back with heatpipes over the GPU and CPU with 2 back vents and 2 Side vents to disperse warm air.
