Ordered a ride yesterday, driver came to my pick up location then cancelled my ride and drove off. Tried again, second driver intentionally wait till the 'free cancel' option is over so that I must pay to cancel (again came close to my pick up location and drove off). Not happy with that at all.

Hi Ozbargainers, with more Driver-Partners than ever before we have initiated a driver quality program to eliminate bad driver behaviour and give our riders the best experience. If you want me to look into your case feel free to PM me with your mobile number.

I tried to use DiDi last weekend, waited for 5 minutes for a driver, nothing, so I switched to Uber, within a minute he came.
He even said he has both programs running and didn't see me on DiDi.

    Pretty poor

      Hi diddy50,

We are continually updating our app to ensure that riders can get safe and reliable rides, with new part-time and full-time Driver-Partners joining us everyday expect the average wait time to decrease.

      Dougie

  • I used Didi last weekend after my uber driver gave me a referral. Never heard of Didi before so happy to have been given the word.

Used Didi on the way home, saved $10 off my trip. Was fast & prompt. Will definitely use Didi again - was even cheaper than the uber on the way there, before the $10 voucher discount.

    • Hi donbot15,

That's great! Remember to refer your friends to DiDi to keep getting discounts.

      Dougie

  • I used DiDi awhile back when I shared a ride with a friend from the city. I tried to enter my destination once my friend was dropped off and I couldn't extend the trip. The driver was nice about it and tried himself with my phone to add a new destination but it would not work. Had to end the trip and request a new trip. Unfortunately I couldn't get the same driver so I had to get out of the car and wait at the kerb for a new driver which took 5 minutes to get to me..

Didi is cheaper than uber but that experience alone had discouraged me to use the service when share riding.

    • Hi UncleDimmy,

That would have been frustrating, thankfully in our latest app update the Add a stop feature has been included so you can add in multiple stops in one trip without having to change your destination.

Update the app and let me know how it goes.

      Dougie

      • Sorry I wasn't clear about the issue I was having with the app. The add a stop feature was not working. I updated my address and it wasn't appearing on the drivers side.

        • Would you happen to have a screenshot of it? Also sent you a PM to get the trip details if you are willing to provide to us.

I'll ask our product team to look into it.

          Dougie

  • Hey how do I use referral code n welcome code for one trip thanks

    • Hey hurr1cane

Only one coupon code can be used at a time, the DiDi app will automatically apply the highest value discount (coupon/voucher) to your trip.

      • Two coupon cant be added to one trip one refferal and welcome another one

        • That's correct. Only one discount will be applied at one time, the App will apply the highest value discount you have in your account to the trip to maximise your savings.

I used this promo and have had mixed results with drivers.

First few we're fine. But tonight I had one driver cancel after waiting five minutes and another just kept billing me after dropping me off!!!

Instead of the $13 I was quoted it kept going up past $25, I have no idea how he did it but if DiDi creates a loophole for drivers to cheat and scam customers who cares if they're cheaper than Uber?!

I have a screenshot showing the excess driving.

    • Hi bootlace,
Best way to get it resolved is through "Help" in the App to send an email with the details, the CS team will resolve it and look into the particular driver. This type of driver behaviour is totally unacceptable and driver will be suspended if he is determined to be intentionally exploiting the system and the customers.

2 days later and still no reply to my email via help. This is what separates DiDi from Uber. Uber solves problems

        • Hi bootlace,
Do you mind sharing your mobile number via PM used for DiDi account so I can escalate the case?

          • @douglastoy: Would be interested to see why customer service took so long…your just here for a promo push…after that theres no follow up

        • Hey bootlace, just sent you a PM with the case details, the resolution should come through within the next couple of business days.

        • Did they actually follow it up?

          • @eskylidder: They did. I got a partial refund in the end.

            • @bootlace: thanks kindly for taking the time to reply to the follow-up - funnily enough you should see my comments below - a worrying element that they are attempting to rectify, supposedly.

DiDi is the one service I will never use again. Ordered a ride to get to a wedding, driver pretended to pick me up and drove all the way in to the city. I could see the fare rising and wasn't able to cancel. "Ride" cost me $48 and I then had to order an Uber to get to the wedding. DiDi did refund me but it was stressful.

Better off always booking Ubers and topping up credit with Coles 2000 Flybuys on $50 gift card purchase. Works out to be a 20% discount.

Edit: To make it clear I'm negging because DiDi drivers are terrible and will scam you.

    • Shitty driver =/= shitty service

      • Many shitty drivers ~= shitty service

    • did you raise it with Didi support? Surely they could do something about it…

      • DiDi did refund me but it was stressful.

        • it was a singular experience that's not reflective of the typical experience. i agree with your neg but wish to clarify with reason

          • @eskylidder: There’s multiple users here that have had bad experiences with their drivers.

            • @sween64: fair call - thats concerning and certinly worthwhile highlighting. if customer service takes that long to resolve queries and the rep cannot answer my questions about DiDi wanting to access photos, media and files on my device i will also be negging

  • +1

Rep why does it need to access photos, media and files on my device? I accepted location and the ability to call/make calls

    • Hi eskylidder

Got confirmation from product team that the App requires access to files in order for users to upload a portrait photo to their profile. Please rest assured that DiDi takes user's data and privacy seriously and will not abuse the responsibility/privilege for any other purposes.

      Cheers

      • Please ask your product team why wouldn't users be able to access the app if they do not accept the permission "for a portrait photo" for people's profiles? You literally cannot use the app unless you accept that ridiculous permission.

That does not makes sense and suggests other activities are taking place. Facebook also assured their customers data and privacy seriously, it's an empty statement in consideration of the facts presented.. looking forward to clarification.

        • Hi eskylidder

I have passed on your feedback to the product team and they are in the process of optimising the sign-up process for new users to a more smooth and user-friendly fashion, including moving the Request for permission to when it's actually needed (e.g. when uploading a profile picture).

We have new features and improvements rolling out almost every week and you should find this change taking place very soon!

          Kind regards

          • @douglastoy: Thanks, can you please DM me the answer once you receive it from the product team? Looking to use your service once that is rectified in the next update.

            • @eskylidder: Of course can do, thanks again for the insights from a new user perspective!
