Hi all - This is a special for ozBargainers :-)
About the deal:
Last night D1 eBay store accepted an offer for $560 for the DJI Osmo Pocket - which makes this unit a great price with the current promotion.
I reached out to D1 this morning and they agreed I could pass on this offer to OzBargain…
So it is kind of an exclusive offer to our enlightened community ;-)
Important: Click on "Make Offer" then enter $560 and "OzBargain referral" in your comment.
With eBay plus, it comes down to $476 delivered (without eBay Plus it is $504 which is still a bargain)
About the product:
I saw this for the first time at the Melbourne D1 store while on holidays - amazing bit of kit! (and amazing shop - they have the best toys for grown ups)
Basically this is a combined very high quality miniature camera (as is expected on DJI equipment) combined with a miniature 3 axis mechanical gimbal of also very high quality (again… as is expected of DJI equipment). The smallest camera/gimbal combination out there at the moment.
To get some idea of what this thing is and does, have a look at YouTube videos - it is a must have for those interested in taking videos.
Here is the link to the DJI page with more info
Here are some of the many reviews on YouTube:
* A good summary
* Creating timelapses
* Showing more creative use
* Finally… Casey Neistat comparing stabilisation to GoPro … though note: this is not an action cam
It is not a perfect product, by all means, but the best there is (as far as a 'pocket' gimbal). Some of the criticisms:
* First generation product, sure to be updated (true - but this is quite good now and don't need to wait)
* Does not have a removable battery (true - but it lasts a couple of hours plus can be powered with battery pack)
* Lens angle is not wide (true - 71 degrees - but footage looks amazing. There are wide angle lens clip ons for about $20)
* Needs filters (yes and no - if want 'cinematic' look, filters can be used to slow down shutter to 2x frame rate)
* Microphone is not great (yes and no - it is good, but faces you so good for vlog, not so good for crowds; can get external mic)
Other accessories:
While I was there I also bought the following accessories (after lots of research I felt these are very worth while and great value at the moment):
- Expansion Kit - Controller Wheel, Bluetooth, Mount, 32GB SD $147.90 eBay Plus with code
- PGYTECH Filter (ND8/PL ND16/PL ND32/PL ND64/PL Filter) kit $84.15 eBay Plus with code
