Great price. I have these, they don't isolate external sound (which is what I was after). You also don't hear your footsteps as you're running (another thing I was after).

They're good for the gym but do disconnect when you walk past traffic lights in the Melbourne CBD (I think traffic lights send signals to each other).

    • That traffic light disconnection thing is really interesting. Have you also had them disconnect much outside of the CBD?

Does anyone know if it's common to all bluetooth headphones, or if some are "worse" than others at this?

I too face the Bluetooth disruptions near traffic lights.
I thought it happens only with my headphones :p

      • it happened to most of my chinese earbud but not the bose sports free.

      • This happens to many Bluetooth headphones. Either they disconnect or the audio connection becomes quite bad. It happens with my Plantronics and Sony headphones.

      • late reply, but it even happens in my car, albeit infrequently. Headphones though, all the time.

      • Yeh they're fine in the burbs. Brought them to NZ on holiday and they were 100% fine lol

    • I have the 2100s (same ear piece) and they do allow external sounds in quite well. They are designed for running so you can hear what is going on around you.

    • It all makes sense now! I was convinced that my phone was doing something every time I would stop walking and start again and that's why my music would start to lag. Now I can see that it's when I stop and start at the traffic light.

  • This is a big drop in price. Is there a new model coming out?

Thanks OP. The 2100’s are also on sale (3 models) for $99 at in https://www.jbhifi.com.au/plantronics/plantronics-backbeat-f…

The 2100’s are my choice over the dearer 3100’s as they are one piece rather than one per ear so I’m less likely to lose one cycling or just in day to day use.

Like the 3100’s these are also designed so you hear street noise for safety when running or cycling but are good enough for work use when on the go. The 2100’s have improved buttons over the older design Backbeat Fit 2.

However the 2100’s don’t have a charging case and charging them by USB is a bit fiddly.

    • Thanks.. had it in the link but forgot to add to title
