Google Home Max $397
Officeworks
Google Home Max Charcoal
Google Home Max Chalk
It has been around $550 most places.
I mean, I don't know what to say, if you don't want a big speaker, don't get it. That is what it is.
Personally I paid full price for one of these a while back, and it's one of my favourite things. I use it for hours every day.
I use it for hours every day.
Thanks, now I have a cake timer going at home 😬
@geoffs87: Better than watching Max Gawn highlights
Good quality sound?
Very good. It's worth watching a few reviews on YouTube.
@bunnybash: Just looking now but none so far have actually played the damn thing…..but the host just keeps banging on.
I’ll keep looking
@gasman70: Why do you need them to play it?
You won't hear what it sounds like because you'll be listening through different speakers and whatever recorded them will impact the video sound too.
No. I bought two and returned them. Mediocre sound. For good sound plug a chromecast audio into real speakers.
@mr fox: I bought some Philips Fidelio DS9800 speakers a while back and the wifi/airplay thing started playing up and I didn’t use them for a couple of years. I recently found a Chromecast audio in a draw (bought but never used) and decided to give it a go with the speakers…….works like a dream.
I've had a quick listen in store and it sounded pretty good. At the time it was $500 and thought it was too pricey.
BIGGER is better!
Username doesn't check out.
Harvey's had it first and Officeworks was still $449 as of first thing this morning. I was going to go to Officeworks for my first price match straight after work(and get an extra 5% off) but they matched HN's price just as I knocked off. So I gave it a miss and will try get it at JB's as I have a voucher to use. Any comments on JB's price match policy these days? I know they don't beat by 5% but they DO match don't they?
Valuable lessons learnt, always go to Officeworks first thing to price beat! Don't leave it too late…
Yeah cheers, I saw it at 6 this morning and had to work, so had to wait till after which was too late. I kept an eye on it all day and they only changed it just as i knocked off around 4 this arvo. Good price anyway.
Next time , Call online store, ask to price match and do a click and collect at your nearest store… That way you'll get the price match and be able to pick it up after work. :)
Would personally go sonos as it’s service agnostic.. well one GA activated
If you’re in Apple Music and Apple devices anyway then the HomePod is worth looking at too.
I recently reluctantly added Amazon Alexa to my Sonos One. Part of the motivation was hoping Amazon linking Apple Music would be extended to Australia. HomePod in the living room works well, but didn't want to spend the same amount for the bedroom, where the Sonos lives.
Here is OW eBay Link.. Just in case anyone got some credit or discounted GC :)
This is the Sonos one?
Is there a Tic Tac offer for this?
Only a Doof Doof offer.
You're not going to get doof from a 4.5 inch speaker
I believe there will be new Google Hardware announced next week at Google IO, might pay to wait for these announcements.

However this still good price for these speakers.
I think a $20 home mini and $380 of speakers would sound better if you knew what you were doing.
And much cheaper to upgrade the tech. I bought a Samsung wireless vacuum amp/speaker years ago. It's absolutely beautiful but the bulk of the connectivity tech is outdated or obsolete. I now have it connected to an alexa puck thing (I forget the name) and it's given it new life.
Moral of the story, don't get a speaker based largely on the non sound related tech since it dates so quickly. I was lucky in my case that the speaker I have has some genuinely highly rated audio and looks great.
Did the same. Just hooked up an Amazon Echo to some old Logitech x230 had laying around for in the garage.
Does the trick with a decent bit of sound
Nice one. Never knew Samsung got into vacuum tubes for a while there. Quirky. Panasonic got into it for a little while with car audio about 20 years ago too.
Haha I'd be pretty stoked to have that in my car. This is the unit I have:

The Mrs just teases that the vacuum part is all just lighting effects.
@sheepdog: It er.. maybe is. Looks cool though.

But yeah, probably just for show but it performs pretty nicely.
How does it compare to Alexa sub and two speakers?
Are the microphones better at picking your voice than on a Google Home Mini?
I have 3 minis, 1 home and 1 max.
The mini picks up commands the best while the max is the worst… I sometimes have to tell it 3 or 4 times
Hahaahahha…
