    Hard Drive:
    Samsung 860EVO 500GB
    Seagate 3.5" BarraCuda 1TB

For the price and ease of use, I'd make this a 1TB SSD and about 3TB HDD

You could consider the 970 evo plus for the nvme ssd if the board supports m.2 drives

    • OP could even look at something like this given the build

    • i did do alot of research and in terms of gaming and general use the m.2 drives don't really make a big difference. I could be wrong, which is why i removed the m.2 drives.

    you getting Z390 + 3000mhz ram but pair with 8700 non-K CPU ?

Even if no overclock, 9700k all core boost to 4.6ghz and max boost to 4.9ghz. It's still better than both 8700 and 8700k if you don't oc at all. Most of the times 2 real cores>4 extra threads. Plus the Clock speed gain from 9700k (4.6/4.9 vs 4.3/4.6 & 4.3/4.7), it should almost always be better than the 8th gen.

And also the Meltdown/Spectre thingy, better with 9th gen hardfix VS softfix that gets exploited with more variants every now and then.

    • using msy to build my pc and i can't seem to see the 8700k on there.
      https://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

And if i was to get 9700k it will increase my cost by 200 so i need to try to reduce it else where.

      • Umart has 8700k but priced too close to 9700k to be worthwhile, so both out of your budget.

It's a waste to go with 8700 non-K as it already came bundled with cpu cooler, yet you're pairing it with water-cooling + Z390 + 3000mhz ram.

Might as well save the bucks and go with 9600k, easily OC over 8700 performance.

And you get that hardfix for Meltdown/Spectre without worrying further exploits or softfix that hampers performance.

        OR,

Drop any OC, just run at stock. Stick with 8700 non-K.
Drop the water-cooling, just use the stock CPU cooler that came with it.
Drop the ram to 2400 kit.
        Drop the board to H370.
        Up the GPU to 2080.

        • ok so if i were to change the cpu to 9700k and power supply to Corsair CX650. Would that be a good or do i need to do anything else to improve it?

          • @Satpal: if you have original budget $119 for psu i'd pick Corsair TX550M

if you only have $95 left to spend i'd pick Corsair CX550M
            https://www.umart.com.au/Corsair-CX550M-Semi-Modular-ATX-Pow…

            • @dcep: what is the difference between CX650 and TX550M

              • @Satpal: wattage : 650w vs 550w
tiering: tier 3 vs tier 2
80+ effi: bronze vs gold efficiency
cable : fixed vs modular (remove unused cable/less cable/easier cable management/tidier/looks better)

in short, tx550m is higher grade psu (better quality & efficiency) with modular cabling
allows for more stable overclocking with potential of achieving higher clocks while remains reliable and prolong lifetime of other components by supplying clean power with minimal ripples

  • I'd be looking at a nvme ssd, the kraken is a big cooler for that chip, the air cooler that comes with it is more than capable of keeping it within spec. Although it might be a little noisier by some reports. But the AIO is overkill, put that money on case cooling.
Ram also seems a little overkill for the CPU.

  • Your motherboard is overkill for that CPU.

Change power supply to Corsair CX650

    • ok, Corsair CX650 is cheaper as well.

  • the NZXT X62 280mm is a nice cooler, but the software sucks big time, I had that cooler but changed to one of these:-
    https://www.bequiet.com/en/watercooler/silent-loop/779
that will fit into your B&W theme better than the colour of the X62
use a program called 'core temp' to monitor the CPU's temperature

also, like others have said, get a bigger capacity HDD; I have over 20TB of HDD storage in my comp

also, may as well get a bigger wattage PSU, it will save you upgrading in the future; I have a EVGA 1200W P2 PSU
