        Even trying the work around (cancelling premium, adding giftcard, then switching back to student….) it did not work. It just adds 6 months to your subscription not a monetary value.

        A bit annoying but worth a try. You live and learn and the number of times I have had a free trial I am probably still ahead. I have it streaming all day anyway.

    I have student. Hopefully it works. I just got a 6 month card. If not, I'll keep it for when student runs out or sell it.

  I had an interesting experience with PayPal digital gifts recently.

  So last year I had a $30 eBay credit which was expiring, so I used it to purchase a reading cinemas gift card from this seller. The purchase was August 2018. When I went to use it last week, it said the balance was $0. I contacted PayPal digital gifts and they washed their hands of it and said to contact reading. Reading investigated and said the voucher was issued 2017 and expired a year later. They gave me some complimentary tickets to cover it, but it doesn't seem like it's Readings fault. It seems PayPal, at least in my case, are selling pre-existing vouchers, and not creating at the time of purchase.

    The law requires that most gift cards or vouchers be sold with a mandatory minimum expiry period of 3 years. The period begins from the date a gift card is sold to a consumer. Businesses can choose to apply an expiry period longer than 3 years and no maximum expiry period applies.

    Note this is for NSW and came into effect 31 March 2018, other states may vary.

    No. Only Premium subscription.
    But, usually once on Premium you can upgrade to Family and it will reduce the expiry date accordingly. I'm guessing this should still work with this voucher.
