Previously had a trial for Google play music. But stopped using after the trial ended and moved to spotify. Installed the app today and opened it to find this offer.
Seems like the offer is only available to users with Samsung phones.

Samsung s7 user here … I have Google music installed previously. Just opened the app and have the 3 month free trial offer.
My was showing 1 month trial too, then I switch to non australian account and switch back to the main au account, after that it became 3 months trial.
However this does not include YouTube premium anymore like that old trial.

Worked for me with S9 - opened google play app then menu and then Subscribe button at the bottom. The 3 month thing appeared immediately.

I only saw 30 day trial from play store, BUT
- open Google Play Music
- Hamburger icon - Top Charts or New Releases
- Click: Subscribe to play any song or album
- Then I get Try Unlimited Free for 3 months for Samsung customers
Tried this on my S9+ but didn't work. I keep getting 'subscribe to the Family Plan'. I have once used a free trial a few years ago with the same account, and every subsequent free trial that's ever popped up has never worked since.
Seems new users only. I've never bothered joining before.
Did you try this comment ? Seems some people who have had access can get it from that.

I prefer spotify. I only installed play music so that I can create custom playlists to play on my google home mini.
I've had both but the VPN family deal works well for me for ~$4 a month with 5 other members. In some ways I prefer Spotify but in others I prefer Google Play music. I haven't had any difficulty with songs not being available but YMMV.

You could just try the free version of spotify and decide for yourself? Spotify has more music than Google Music.
Spotify has a much better UI and more music. I only use Play Music to have my personal music collection available to stream for no cost.
What do you mean? You upload MP3 to drive and listen for free?
Yea you can store up to 50,000 songs on the cloud for free with Play Music and stream it through the app. I use the Play Music Desktop Manager program on my PC and have it set to automatically upload everything from my iTunes folder and once you have it set up and running in the background on your computer at all times, you never have to worry about manually uploading any songs, it just does it as soon as new music is added to your designated folder.
@serpserpserp: I have no idea if it would work on iTunes purchased songs, I just use iTunes to organise all my music for me, I don't give them any money for my music.
The Spotify App on Android Auto is rubbish though.

S7 edge owner here, can confirm there is a 3 month trial for Samsung customers, however, it only shows up when you try to subscribe with an account which previously hadn't had a trial before.. at least that's my take on the 4 accounts I used.

All Samsung users get this offer initially. The offer is usually only good if you havent taken up the offer already. There may be some expiry to this allowing you to re-subscribe at a later date. Might explain why its working for some and not others..

Can do this with non- Samsung devices as well. I have a Pixel 2 and signed up for the free trial but expired a while ago.
If you have a friend that has a Samsung device, you can sign into Play music with your account active it and sign back out. Goto your non Samsung device it will still be active. Confirmed just now with a donor Samsung J5.
Worked on my S9+. Pretty sure in the past I had already used the free trial and cancelled.
