yeah about 10 left.
I wonder if other Aldis have them as well…? Might have to get on my bike and go and have alook at my local one.
So is it 17" wheels or 26" wheels? I'm confused…
Here's some reviews: - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/829733
The part I liked was this- "Only problem with that plan is the bike is likely to cease functioning, with you on it!"…
"Rocking up to Aldi in 18 months looking for replacement bushings for your trusty steed, will be met with slack-jawed yokel grins from the unfortunate year 10 part-timer trying to figure what the hell you are on about :)"
Save up for something better. The more they have left over the bigger the markdown. Kids BMX were same price when they had them.
Neighbours kids got them but they haven't lasted the neglect/abuse. Disposables.
What was neglected the kids or the bikes? ;-)
He said "disposable", so it must have definitely been the kids. They just don't build'em like they used to :p
Kids will be on sale at Aldi next week. 60 day return policy ;-)
I wonder if they will check that the kids came from Aldi? I have one here that I'd like to return… :)
These bicycles are okay if you only want one to ride around occasionally for short distances. They are heavy and quite slow and the shift gears are a bit stiff. Can't quibble at this sort of prices though.
Agreed. Definitely not the best, but with a little TLC, it is still a bike that will get you from point A to point B. At this price, you can't really complain. I don't own one but have worked on one. I also own a very very similar department store bike with even lower specs. THAT bike has gotten over 1700kms on it, and its still very very much rideable.
Back on topic, I haven't noticed these in my local Aldis but I have to agree that the price markdown is manager dependent. I've seen different markdown prices on identical items in different stores as well.
They had these at my local Aldi a month ago for the same price. about 2 adult male, and 3 adult female bikes. I bought one took it home, and set it up.
It took me about an hour to true the front wheel, it was REALLY bad 9mm wobble!
Rear wheel had about a 4mm wobble but was easy to true, maybe 20 mins tops.
A few minor issues with the brakes, took a bit of tweeking to get it right.
Gears, some issues.. once again, needed tweeking, never got them 100% right but close enough.
Handle bars come together with a hex key. You MUST ensure it is tight. If you don't the handlebars will move independently of the front wheel :-S
After seting up I took mine for a quick ride. Very similar to a low end kmart huffy, and I'm near certain they come out of the same factory and share many parts. You feel the weight of the steel frame, it's not that bad, but you notice it on the hills.
The next day I noticed the front wheel was flat. Tube had a manufacturing defect, rather than patch it, I replaced the tube with a 4 year old tube I had in the shed, not ideal but it was the easter holiday long weekend so finding a place that sold tubes that was open was an issue.
After a few more rides I returned the bike, and got a refund.
It may be a $49 bike, but you are much better off spending a little more on something decent, Diamondback at Big W or Schwinn at K-mart would be fine.
These bikes are also sold at Walmart in the states under the Roadmaster brand.
Google 'Roadmaster Mountain Sport SX'Anyone know if Top Ryde has anymore????
i hope these bikes don't fall apart while you're cycling :O
I saw 8 at Chatswood Aldi but they were selling at full price. So it looks like a Top Ryde manager special.
A local ozbargainer! Haha
We should have a coffee sometime, maybe when we get another coupon special. :)
definitely a bargain. many left?
