How Much to Change a New Set of Brake Pads for Camry Ateva 2009

Hi folks,

I'm wondering how much does it cost to change a new set of brake pad for Camry Ateva 2009. I was asked for $380 for both front and back for a non-genuine set. Let me know if that is a good price.

Regards

Couldn't you just get a second quote from another provider, and do the comparison?

  • Taking into account labour, that's probably pretty good. I think I bought both brakepads for @ $80, when I was selling my car. A brake spreader is a must, as well as the right spanners.

Having watched this video quickly it looks like the camry pads are super easy to change. The majority of the time would be jacking up the car and removing the wheels.

For the cheapest Bendix pads from SCA for a 2009 Camry you're looking at about $80 for the front and $40 for the rear. A shop will probably charge you twice that though - as they have little incentive to offer them at a discount. The rest is labour - which realistically for a workshop should be less than an hour.

  • $380 is fair but depends on the pads tho. Decent front and back sets can cost around $150.

    Yes

    • No :)

  • $1,000 bucks…

But yeah, if it's just pads and nothing else, $380 sounds about right for a Camry.

Sounds decent. Hopefully using something like a set of Bendix brake pads.

Or if you actually cared about your brakes/car you would hope they didn’t use bendix.
I work for a mechanic and can tell you bendix are the worst pads you can put in your car. They wear so fast, can’t deal with the heat of braking in most heavier cars (family cars etc) and are generally overpriced for the poor quality they offer. They have done a good job of promoting their brand and creating awareness. They actually used to be decent but now I wouldn’t touch them as a product.

When our customers insist on bendix (and some are deluded enough to do so) we put a note on their work order and invoice that bendix were fitted at their insistence and against our recommendation and that they accept the shorter anticipated life span of the pads.

      • Very interesting.

Out of curiosity what brake pads do you recommend? It definitely sounds like you have some knowledge in this area. I've just always been aware that they were the "go to" as far as pads were concerned.

If it includes machining the discs, then $380 for both front and back is ok.
