    not wireless.

  • +1

    its got a proprietary cable wtf??? lol no wonder its reduced by so much. not wireless and proprietary plug. if you break the cable it comes with. RIP

    • It's a microusb cable. Not common, but not proprietary. I have a set of headphones wireless BT headphones which have the same thing (I got them as a prize).

      • +1

        yeh but it'll be hard to find microusb to 3.5mm cable with the inline control working for this headphone have to buy from them 15bux plus shipping

    I knew before I opened this post that there'd be ignorant, clueless comments about these not being wireless.

    • -1

      so are you saying they are wireless?

      • +2

        Yes. Thinking about adding them to my collection of HD650 wireless, HD58x wireless, and DT770 wireless headphones.

        • +1

          They won't be as good as your HD650, HD58x and DT770

          • @congo: Any recommendations on a logical upgrade from Sennheiser HD8 DJ? I like my bass.

            • +1

              @hey aj: Sennheiser HE-1

              • @[Deactivated]: Haha I said a logical upgrade. I was thinking the HD 700's might be the next step up?

        • +2

          Hey mate, these headphones are not wireless. They require the proprietary cable to connect the headphones to a sound source, this same cable is also used to recharge the battery in the headphones for active noise cancelling but it does not charge while the headphones are in use.

          • +1

            @hey aj: Woosh

            • @StickBug: Oh my bad, was dabell's question not legitimate?

              EDIT - Ah yep, did not see his original comments about the headphones not being wireless, sorry did not see it from all the downvotes.

    i have a pair of these, i was not particularly happy with the fit and sound. it actually hurt my ears and head to wear for more than 20-30 minutes at a time.
    they are currently sitting in my room never to be used again

    I never had a great experience using any marley headphone

    Thank you OP for the information, I went to the store and grabbed a pair immediately after I saw this deal.
    I'd say the fit is the fatal flaw of these headphones, the ear cups are not deep enough and barely bigger than that of a pair of on-ears, they're just pressing on all sides of your ears, I got really uncomfortable after an hour of use.
    The active noise cancelling feature is there but doesn't work very well, you'll be able to hear whatever in your environment you'd otherwise hear, it does reduce it to some degree especially in lower frequencies, but if you are in a noisy environment wearing them won't make much of a difference. I know I'm not supposed to compare something this ancient and from such lesser-known brand to bigger players like Sony or Bose or Microsoft, but they just can't keep up in today's standard, I've had passive noise cancelling (more like pseudo noise cancelling) headphones that worked better.
    Two cables are included, one is for audio, with a 3.5mm plug, and the other one is for charging, with a USB-A. I don't think the USB-A can be used for audio, so you do need to switch them when listening v when charging. An airplane adaptor is included though I doubt anyone would use it on a flight considering how uncomfortable wearing them is (or maybe I just got a really weird shaping head) A 6.35mm plug adaptor is also included, no USB-C to 3.5mm of course, these headphones are around before USB-C is cool.
    A proprietary cable is used, meaning if it's somehow broken, you'll have to contact the manufacturer to get a new one. It is available on House of Marley's website, but considering they've stopped the production for this model long ago, it might be taken down soon someday. The audio cable also has volume and pause buttons and a microphone built in. It's a shame that it's not wireless, considering most phones nowadays don't include a headphone jack anymore, and the ones who do use really shitty hardwares for it.
    They can be used as earmuffs if you use them wirelessly, though they are definitely not gonna be very good because of its poor fit and ANC quality.
    The case it comes with is really nice, it's compact, hard-shelled and durable feeling, a carabiner also comes with it so it's quite easy to attach the case somewhere on your bag if you are travelling a lot. I wouldn't recommend them if you are looking for a pair of ANC to travel with, because wearing them for long hurts my ears like hell, and comfortability is, in my opinion, the number one priority when choosing a pair of ANC headphones because if you need ANC headphones, you are obviously going to use them for prolonged periods of time, either on a plane or a train, and this pair is just too tight and rigid for my liking.
    Overall, they are OKAY, especially considering it came out almost 5 years ago, ANC meant something different back then. With the same price, you can definitely find other headphones with better sound quality and more importantly, more comfortable fit. But 99 dollars isn't a lot for a pair of headphones anyway. If you like the wood and aluminum design (which I find quite stylish and personally enjoy) or want to try an entry level ANC, it's still a pretty good bargain. For a long time, this was the flagship of House of Marley retailing for a whopping $349, but they cut the production a long time ago, and Marley hasn't been making any ANC headphones ever since.
    So my guess is that the sales figure was such a flop that Marley decided to drop ANC altogether, and JB HI-FI too is trying to get rid of their stock.
    A one-year warranty comes with the purchase from JB-HIFI, if you want to extend it for another 2 years you'll need to pay another 22 dollars.

      Great review. After reading this, I feel it is a better idea to get the newly released Audio technica ANC500BT. They are active noise cancelling, bluetooth and over ear. They will have the audio technica sound quality. No aptx though. And only $69 more at JB Hifi.
