  • New shop back customers or new NordVPN customers ?

    • +2

Sorry edited just now. It is new NordVpn customers

  • Wonderful. Just what I need. Thanks OP

  • Thanks! Was spewing I missed the last cashback deal so glad this has come up… my account with PIA is about to expire.

    • +11

just to share my experience as a PIA user… I found Nord to be a LOT slower, no matter what I tried… your experience may not be the same as mine obviously, but thought I'd share anyway…

      • Does PIA work with amazon because Nord doesnt which is annoying.

        • As far as i know Amazon locks you to your account region anyway, its not like Netflix. But no it does not work if it detects a VPN.

        • no PIA doesn't work with Amazon streaming :( Nord was meant to I thought, it was one of the reasons I tried it.

      • +1

Yep, I had the exact same issue as KRiSX, Current happy PIA user with an expiring account, just tried Nord and was often getting awful speeds (1-2Mb), changing servers often didn't address the underlying issue of their tool auto-selecting these poor servers. I ended up cancelling Nord.

      • Same. The speeds seem to vary drastically between Australian servers. I would sometimes get 70mbps, then reconnect and get <1mbps. Never had this issue with PIA. Gave it a couple of days, but eventually asked for my money back. Giving pure VPN a go now, and so far so good.

      • That is my experience also. But I took on a free trial of Nord first.

PIA maxes out my connection. Nord, the speeds differ by server. Some are very slow, some are acceptable. I haven't found one that maxed out my connection.

  • I have the lifetime Getflix, is it worth upgrading?

Looks a heck of a deal

    • Yeh also keen to know this, getflix has been very slow for me though

      • I got Getflix and I mainly use it for the SmartDNS service, for streaming channels. I checked with NordVPN support team yesterday and they said that don't provide SmartDNS services which is a deal breaker for me. Keep that in mind if you need DNS service.

    • +2

I have Getflix and Netflix works intermittently. I purchased the last NordVPN deal with 56% and Netflix didn't work on Shield TV - I rasied a support ticket and was advised it works (if/when) on Desktops only. I got a full refund, hope this helps.

      Cheers

      • Windscribe may be a better option for you.

      • What countries do they have? The PC isn’t a deal breaker, but getflix already offers US Netflix.

      • +1

I have NordVPN and was about to purchase the shield tv for this very reason , so that I could stream US netflix on the TV. But looks like this will not work so thanks for that!! HDMI from Desktop to TV it is then for US Netflix.

      • PIA has a native android TV app. Works brilliantly.

        • So does Nord

  • Nvidia Shield warning (probably all android tv): My subscription was working fine with netflix up until a few months ago. Almost overnight I was unable to find a server that worked, but they worked on PC fine. Tried their tech support and after a few weeks of back and forth, didn't find a solution. In the end went back to ipvanish.

    • I purchased the last deal, Netflix didn't work on Shield. They ended up doing the refund.
      How's ipvanish?

      • I had issues with ipvanish late last year, which is why I tried out nord. When I started having issues with Nord, I went back to ipvanish which has been solid since. Worth noting that nord doesnt log, ipvanish apparently does.

  • +3

VPNSecure, been using them for a year and get a lifetime for 1/3 the cost
    https://stacksocial.com/sales/vpnsecure-lifetime-subscriptio…

    • Thank.. how's the speed?

      • Speed no issue, I have a 100/40 line and usually max out my download queues.

        • +2

The speed isn't with your internet but its with your VPN server

    • +1

      How’s Netflix work on it?

      • I would also like to know if Netflix works

      • +1

Sadly, no idea. I don't use it for geo unblocking of Netflix.

      • You can sign-up for a 2 day trial for $2US. I did that yesterday. Worked fine connected to Indian server (IPL on Hotstar). Speedtest showed 130ping and 20/8 speed, I'm on 50/20 FTTP Exetel
I could log in to Netflix India. Did not get a chance to watch anything. Will try a US server and netflix tonight.

        • Thanks for the info. Would be interested to hear on US experience!

          • +1

@pifts: Ok, so Netflix US did not work on Android Phone. Came up with an error message 'You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. Please turn off any of these services and try again. For more help, visit netflix.com/proxy'
            Hope that helps.
P.S. Connected to one east coast server and one west coast server. Still no go.

This is for vpnsecure.me NOT for nordvpn.

Edit: And it's the same on a PC as well.

            • +1

@alterego13: Thanks again for the heads up, saved me a lot of headache by the sounds of it!

  • I got Nord 3 years for $99 last year?

(From memory I think I signed up for the free trial and then after it expired and I got a few nag emails they made that offer. )

Edit: Actually it was probably $99 USD.

  • For anyone using this for Netflix I found the following:

Works fine on my Android Phone (can get titles from US netflix, Japan etc)
    Works on my Mac

I use an Android TV (Sony) which DIDN'T work straight off. I had to do the following to get it working:
Change my DNS settings on the TV to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Uninstall all updates for the Netflix Application (I believe it brought it back to version 5.12). You will than need to turn OFF automatic updates from within the Google play app on the TV
You may be able to perform similar steps on the NVidia Shield - however you'll most likely need to sideload the APK for older versions of Netflix.

I'm with My Republic and found that VPN speeds were good enough to stream 4k Netflix (this is essentially all I needed it for!)

I'm hoping that Nord have a fix in the works, especially seeing as other VPN providers don't require these steps. I'm gonna stick with them for the time being :)

  • Just curious but I am seeing lots more of cashback deals atm compared to cash rewards. I think I saw just one cash reward deal recently. Maybe I should just open a cashback account.

    • +4

      ShopBack?

  • +6

So is the final price, $38?

  • Please update how much we will end up paying after cashback.

  • +1

Is express vpn any better? Always seeing info sayong how theyvare the best for netflox etc but wondering if anyone has actually used them

    • +1

ExpressVPN is way more expensive, it worked well when I trialled it though

    • +1

Very quick in my experience. But yes, expensive

  • +1

I thought the 56% was a crazy cashback now 75 I'm gonna have to give this a try.

I'll follow up with some speed tests in the next 48 hours when I sign up tonight.

    • Wait till next week. It will be 87%.

      • Really? Or are we just going off the current events?

        • +1

I highly doubt the discount would go beyond 75%. But then again I was going to get it last night for 56% thinking the same thing. Happy I waited

For $1 a month you can't go wrong.

  • +2

I am on Aussie Broadband and i got nord last week. I get 95 Mbps on the 100 NBN plan (without Nord running). When i activate nord my speed test is about 91 Mbps. I'm in the Frankston Vic Area. Can't ask for better. Also a friend lives in Hastings and gets similar results. Very happy for such a little price. Haven't frigged around with o/s Netflix yet. Hope this helps anyone in my area

  • yep shield was bust - no workaround.

When this will be fixed unknown.

  • +2

Sorry for the ignorance. Can someone please brief me what I can do with the VPN for everyday life?

  • anyone know how long it takes for the cashback to come back to you??

    • +1

      2-3 months

      • ouch, im a poor student at the moment you see. good deal still for most :)

  • +2

Anyone know if there's any PIA deals going ATM?

  • +1

There is no need to use shopback. Code 3ysaftey or extraoff should both work for an immediate discount.

    • Actually it is best you use code SHOPBACK or 3ynordvpn. Using codes that aren't listed on ShopBack may potentially attribute the sale to other channel, thus we don't get commissions and you don't qualify for cashback.

      • SHOPBACK or 3ynordvpn

        What does these codes provide?

They look like discount codes and with no cashback.

        • The codes are meant to put the 3 year plan at that price, however they seem to be running that same offer onsite already without the code.

          • @idigaeroplanefood: crap, I didnt put any coupon in when I purchased it through your site.

Do I wait for the two days and see if it is still registered anyway? or refund it now? as they have a 30 days refund policy.

            Thanks.

            • +1

@cintamami: If you didn't use any coupons it's fine still. But yep please give it two days for tracking to come through.

      • I like how you guys are forbidden from mentioning each other by name even though you refer to each other all the time.

  • I got Nord during the last 56% Cash back deal. I've noted that tormenting speeds are very low. Anyone facing the same problem?

    • +8

Yes, my tormenting speeds are not great. I wish I could torment faster.

    • What are the actual speeds that you are getting with your tormenting? How does that compare with everything else?

  • Has anyone tried Nord with overseas streaming services like HBO now? If so, how's your experience with it??

  • Anyone compared how netflix works compared to pia? Pia is blocked everywhere :/

  • PIA #1

  • How long does it take to get your cashback?

    • 75 days if you get it at all.

  • +1

Netflix doesn't seem to work on iPhone: "You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy." :(

    • Correct. The same outcome will apply to Amazon Prime as well.

      • Ah, no use then. Cancelling.

      • What else do people use VPN for?

        • ExpressVPN works for the streaming services. You can trial it to verify it works for your particular circumstances. I'll never prepay for a VPN again, as they're too volatile (especially when they gain popularity).

        • For entertainment.

    • You're better off using Smartdns for Netflix to be honest.

  • Ah rats. I just renewed my ibvpn subscription for 3yrs… couldn't find anything better than the $80-ish they were charging me at the time.

  • For those who successfully subscribed/purchased - did you choose United States? As choosing Australia adds on a 10% VAT. Cheers.

    • I'd like to know the method of payment recommended:
Alipay is in Chinese, and the app requires a Chinese bank account to verify you
Google Pay mysteriously doesn't work on desktop OSX Chrome (nor the Android browser nested in the Shopback app)

Tempted to try Crypto - is there any easy way to set this up?

      • I used USD and paid by credit card.

    • I chose US and paid with my debit card. No issues for me.

  • +1

The perfect day to get a cheap VPN. praise be the night king

  • +1

Geez, speeds are pathetic for me. New user here. Connects to servers but trying to open ANY page in Safari doesn’t open and times out.

Only an hour in and I’ll be asking for my money back.

    • Yeah, in my experience Nord speeds are shocking outside of Aussie servers

  • +1

If, like me, you're going to primarily be using the VPN for Amazon Prime and Netflix, then I'd avoid NordVPN. Both services detect and block NordVPN. ExpressVPN works fine, for now, but their service is more expensive and they may ultimately suffer a similar fate. Additionally, for standard browsing, you'll find yourself having to constantly complete captcha puzzles to verify you're not a spam bot, and some websites and services simply deny connections from VPN IP address ranges due to violating the ToS. At ~$37.50 AUD, you likely won't be too upset about the previously mentioned, but I paid ~$100 USD and got very little use out of it before it became essentially useless.

  • when this deal is expires…? would be great.

    • Not sure. I asked the rep and will update if I get a reply.

      • Also if you cancelled last 56% cash back subscription. Is it still okay to get this another deal from shopback .? Makes it about 30 dollars cheaper than last deal. Don’t mind to pay $1 a month.

        • I think it would be ok as long as you create a new nord vpn account. As the offer is only for new nordvpn customers. But again not 100% sure. You would need to ask a shopback rep.

  • Has anyone got their Cashback traced yet? I purchased through the shopback mobile app and now I feel like that may have been a mistake.

  • +1

thanks OP, I am not familiar with Shopback, I just signed up for an account there and followed their link to Nord VPN. paid on Nord site to sign up.

My question is how would I get the cash back and how long after I signed up? would it appear as credit on my shopback account that I can then transfer to a bank?

    Thanks

    • +1

Yep. you will receive an email when your Cashback is traced. You can also view your click history so if it isn't traced within 48 hrs you can lodge a complaint. The email usually comes within hours. I still haven't received mine yet but it has only been like 3 hrs since my purchase.

Your money will be credited to your account and usually will take 2-3 months to be approved. After it is approved you can transfer back to your bank account or PayPal.

      • thanks so much, my Paypal has a different email account to the one I used to sign up, is that an issue for Shopback?

        • There shouldn't be any issues. I don't think they check that stuff

  • Good timing. I've been using TorGuard for about 6 years and my plan is ending in June this year. I pay for a dedicated IP address to make sure Netflix and Amazon work all the time, and I really don't have much to complain about TG. Their support is fantastic. I tried NordVPN in the past but couldn't access Netflix or Amazon US. Paying for a dedicated IP at that point was not an available option. They said I had to use the NordVPN app, which is not acceptable. I need my VPN settings in my router for all devices connected to the wi-fi; I watch movies on TV, not on my tablet/computer. Not sure if that has changed in the last two years.
