Can't sign up to ADSL before NBN is available

I'm moving into a new house next week, and NBN is meant to become available at the end of May this year. I've spoken to TPG and Exetel, and both told me they can't sign me up to an ADSL plan in the meantime as there is a chance NBN would be ready by the time they actually get the ADSL service ready.

What are my options here? Does anyone know a provider that would allow me to sign up for a month, or is there a cheap way to live of 4G internet until NBN is available? I'd prefer not to use 4G as who knows if NBN will actually be available when they say, or if it will be delayed.

try abb is you're willing to pay the premium

    • They only have NBN or mobile broadband (4G), no ADSL unfortunately.

  • If it's a new house in a new area, then probably nothing you can do until they pull the nbn cable into your house.

But if the house has existing telephone line, then try other providers, heard spintel would sign you up to their nbn plan and have you connected via adsl for a couple months then switch to nbn when available.

Try Telstra. I've gone through same issue in Dec last yr as the suburb (Rouse Hill) where I live has "private NBN network" (Can't remember what its called) by Telstra so couldn't get connection thru others. Worth a try

    • Spoke to Telstra today and sounds like they’ll be able to sign us up to ADSL in the meantime. Thanks!

  • Vodafone and Telstra both have NBN with 4G backup (although it's not full 4G speed). I'd be asking them if they can connect you. The answer may well be no, but it can't hurt to ask.

just buy 40GB Prepaid | 30 Days | $4.90 @ Kogan Mobile (New Customers) sims.

how much data do you really need?

just hotspot this through an old phone, or inexpensive 4g modem.
