    $45 plan

Did you not learn from last time??

    $1800/24 months = $75/month.

Btw, this doesn't have much information.
"Select" Pixel 3 & 3XL and "Selected" plans.

Buy outright AND sign up for Optus 24 month plan just to get $400 gift card?

  • +3

This post is confusing. You have to buy outright (at less than stellar pricing), sign up to a 24 month contract just to get a $400 HN voucher and Home Hub (if you go with $85 plan).

How is this a good deal?

    • -1

if you have/need a tablet with 200GB of data for $60-80/month, then combine with the cheapest plan on a Pixel 3 to share the data and balance your total cost, this is just an example to get advantage out of it.
Also, the $400 gift card is handy to help payout your current plan (if lower or about) to re-new contract to keep old handset and getting a Pixel 3/3XL.
Or, if you want 200GB data and unlimited international phone calls to 35 countries than better off with Pixel 3XL on $105 plan to get $400 gift card as well as Google Home Hub.

This is confusing. Can you really get a pixel 3 on a $45 plan ($890 over 24 months) and get $400 and the home hub? If so this is the best mobile deal in years.

Edit: if you also have to buy outright then this is the worst deal in years.

$1,800 is the total cost of $45/month plan + $30/month handset cost for a Pixel 3 64GB. If you factor in the $400 gift card then it is $1400 in total cost for 24 months. Of course it is better to go with higher cost plan or you can just sign on $45 plan if you already have another Optus service like tablet/phone with 100-200GB to pool and share the data.

      $45 plan

Refer to my comment above. OP has neglected (again) to put the phone repayments (which are $30/month additional). Home Hub is only available on more expensive plans with the 3 XL

Terrible deal. Title and details are confusing and misleading.

  • I wonder how many people would be willing to sign up for a 2 year contract ? With new phones being released yearly, the price of data dropping and with 5g coming out this year ( with Telstra at least ), I wouldn't be doing it.

    • -2

Optus early termination costs much less than you thought, and you still can sell the handset to cover that cost so basically you are not worse off at all. I've been doing this the last two years to get new handsets with lowest costs which are better than buying outright :)

Can you provide an example please? Thanks

    • I don't understand why people buy outright, especially android phones. Even if you flip your phone after a year you're losing probably couple of hundreds upwards. I suggest waiting for deals.

      Huh ?

It's also being flooded with people like yourself who can't understand that what they have posted is not a good deal but then argue until they are blue in the face.

This is not a good deal and "but if you also buy another tablet plan for $60 to $80 on top and share the data its great!" is just ridiculous.

    • But if you value getting to the facts about whether a deal works, we have to be willing to risk getting offended. Because sometimes that's what people with differing opinions will do.

We've all been burnt with the gotchas, fine print, false advertising etc so let people have their say. As long as they are respectful and back up their opinions let's harden the f up.

Come on! Lets face it… your recent deals for the Nokia 7 and the optus plan had a good response and a lot of positive votes. I bet you didn't complain then!

Just because people state that your deal isnt good, you can't call us all bullies! Looks like you don't like to be told that sometimes you are wrong :)

My dude, just give up. So what, it's a bad deal, accept it. The community has spoken

  • What are the inclusions on the plan?
    I'm still not sure…

  • This deal is only good when you live in oblivion

Best deal of the year :)

  • Average deal at best.
Cheapest available is $75 pm for 24 months so $1800 total. This gets you the Pixel 3 64gb version. No Google Home Hub however that is only for $85 plan or above.
Pixel 3 was going for about $888 last sale here, but regular sale price was $899. Say that the outright price for the phone is $899.
1800 - 400 gift card - 899 phone = $501 for the cheapest plan with 4 GB data pm no int. call, or about ~$21 pm for two years.
Not a bad deal, but also not that great of a deal, considering you can get a Boost yearly prepaid plan for $150, and that you get 80 GB of data plus some int. calls.

Even if you have another Optus data share plan, this is not that great of a deal as you can just buy the phone outright, sign up to the Boost plan and save $201 ($501 vs $300) over two years.

Just had a quick scan on the Optus website. They have the pixel 3 listed on the $45 Plan + $15 lease handset repayment = total $1440 or own the phone $20 handset repayment = $1560 over 24 months.
So is this a leased handset at $75pm? If so $1800 - $400HN GC vs Optus $1440 over 24 months. You're pretty much paying for the $400 HN gift card.

    • the numbers have spoken.
      no deal

OP do you work for Harvey Norman?

Your deals certainly seem to be largely focussed on Harvey Norman, and I am wondering if there is an undeclared association here???

  • So where is the link to what the $75 and $85 per month actually gets you?

    Is this leased or purchased?

Seriously not sure this post improves on yesterdays….
