  • If you haven't bought a DS (or a Wii), wait till Christmas this year. The bargains will be insane, considering Nintendo will be phasing both these systems out next year.

You could say the same thing about any piece of technology.

Telling someone to wait 8 months to purchase something because it will be cheaper is pointless.

      • +1

True, but not as relevant with a console. Consoles last at least 5 years, and when that turnover happens, the savings are considerable. Especially since most consoles don't have numerous price drops each year, as they instead rely on big game releases for sales.

That obviously can't be compared to a new TV or mp3 player every year, or Blu-ray players becoming cheaper every few months.

Dowant is right, a console being cheaper soon is much different to other technologies. where multiple manufacturers bring out new TVs/Cameras/computers constantly, games consoles are upgraded in genrations. Considering the next generation of consoles has started surfacing (Nintendo 3DS, Sony NGP, Nintendo's Project Cafe) it would be wise to hold off buying a wii and DS as the prices are going to go down very soon. At least wait until after any E3 price announcements.

But that's the point.. they'll get cheaper cause they're about to be superseded!
Whether it's a TV/camcorder or a game console, if it's about to be superseded, then you're buying old tech.. Why not wait 12 months, then pick up one of the Thousands of used Wii's traded in to buy the new Nintendo console?
Waiting for the first price drop, then buying a console is good advice, waiting until it's superseded is bad advice!

      • AGREED.

  • +3

RRP of Wii has already dropped to $150 o/s

  • wii is cheap as it is, dont think it will go much lower.

this DS Lite is quite a bargain considering they sell used for $120-$150 still.

  • A better option than a DSi because it plays GBA games.

    • DS lite plays GBA games.

      edit: doh!, cant read!

    • There are other ways to play GBA games on a DSi…

DS Lite is the best off all of them IMO. Most capabilities and with an R4 it really has great potential. guess thats half the reason they have held their value so well.

    • +1

And the R4 (and similar) have hurt Nintendo badly and are (pretty much) illegal :/

  • Yeah DS Lite is the best I'd agree with that.
Better get in quick if you still haven't gotten one, I heard they're not being made anymore.

  • The DS Lite have many defect, is that ture? Will 3D works fine?

If you are not trolling, then 3D does not work on the DS Lite, only a Nintendo 3DS is capable of displaying in 3D.
