So I heard bad things about gaming headsets with very bad mics or bad sound or drop outs. so trying to find a good gaming headset with a good mic! good mic is a must can be cabled but rather wireless as its 2019 lol
I want it for PC and xbox one and future consoles I have been looking myself but there is always a con with a headset so its hard to find one.

I own a SteelSeries Arctis 7 which I got for ~$150. I think its great. It'll probably be below $200 when on special.
where did you get it for that much?
Amazon around Black Friday last year
It might not be what you're looking for since it's only really good for PC.
It doesn't support wireless on Xbox.@FireRunner: Is the mic any good? sound any good? no drop outs?
@Rukiata: Don't use mic much but its very clear when tested.
Sound is great (when you have the SteelSeries Engine running), some people say the bass is a bit weak but I don't mind
Never had any drop outs.
+1 for the Arctis 7, good quality headset
I bought the modmic. I don't really use it though, but it seems to work okay. It's very overpriced for a basic mic, but I can't really find anything else quite like it.
Either get a decent ~$100 ‘Gaming Headset’ or spend $300-$1000+ on a good set of hifi headphones and slap something like a modmic on it.
I have both, a cheap gaming headset and a pair of Fidelio X2s. For playing on a console I recommend just getting a decent wired gaming headset that has a three pole audio jack to plug directly into controller. The sound isn’t that bad if you find one with decent reviews, I’m using the Steelseries Siberia P300 and I haven’t ever noticed any poor audio quality that stood out. If you’re not approaching pro level gaming then I dint think perfect audio positioning is going to be the thing that gives you the edge. The mic isn’t too bad either, the difference between it and a good one is mostly just a more natural tone which will probably be lost anyway if using the built in chat services on console which have terrible audio quality. It’s also good not have to worry about being too delicate with the cheaper pair as they mostly live on my couch.
My Fidelios live at my PC for listening to music and when I get back into PC gaming I’ll probably bother getting a modmic for them but I’ll still be using the P300s for my console. The whole ‘don’t buy gaming headsets because they have poor audio quality’ is a common topic for YouTube and magazine reviewers but honestly you probably won’t notice the difference and getting into decent hifi headphones can be a major money pit.
fist bump I have Fidelio X2s as well. Love them.
Yep love them too, got them for around $220 with a cashrewards/ebay deal stack (thanks OzB). Great sound for the price, ridiculously comfy and don't need a headphone amp to power them.
"rather wireless as its 2019"
Cables are sexy though? As a semi-audiophile I'm definitely not a fan of wireless anything (though for earbuds when doing chores it's pretty useful). Maybe I watched too much Ghost in the Shell and Serial Experiments Lain etc when I was younger but I'm all about cables, I want waterfalls of cables hanging from the ceiling behind my PC and snaking all over the floor like I'm in a cyberpunk world lol. The other half wouldn't be on board for that though.
Only a few headsets work wirelessly with the XB1, and all are fairly expensive I believe.
The CoolerMaster MH751/752s are pretty well regarded amongst gaming headsets under $200. Portable, very comfortable closed backs that will work on all PCs and consoles. They're based off Takstar Pro82, a pair of entry level audiophile headphones. Heard it has a pretty decent mic on it too. If you have the time, suss out ZeosPantera's review of them here
Look at pretty much anything Sennheiser and maybe Audio-Technica if you have a budget of over $200.
I wouldn't recommend wireless because of latency, audio quality etc even if it's 2019.
Everything else stated above by the others is correct though. I used to have a pair of Fidelio X2s as well and paired it with a V-Moda BoomPro, an alternative to the ModMic (There's a wireless version of the ModMic if that interests you, by the way). Was a pretty great set-up that worked on PC and probably consoles except for the grainy highs when the volume was turned up.
So I heard bad things about gaming headsets with very bad mics or bad sound or drop outs. so trying to find a good gaming headset with a good mic!
Always thought this was because of software or hardware you're connected to and not necessarily the mic on the headset itself……
For example on the same hardware, using my Tiamat 7.1 V2 on Windows XP, my mic is loud and clear, but when I use it on windows 7, it's as if my voice is toned down to the point that no one can hear me on the other end unless I yell into the mic…..same settings on both operating systems too, but for some reason, windows 7 wants to make out the mic on my headset to not really be that great which is probably what you were experiencing….to derive to your conclusion….
If your budget is less than $200 then I sincerely recommend you avoid a wireless headset.
