[NSW] XU1 Grass Trimmer or Hedge Trimmer $15 @ Bunnings (McGraths Hill)

110

Was in Bunnings after a Chainsaw when I found these for $15 on clearance. Not for tradies but may be suitable for small properties.

XU1 is the new low low. Prevously it was Ozito. I don't know how they are making money out of this pricing.

XU1 stuff is crap but at this price, it's cheaper than Nerf swords.

I got an ux1 hedge trimmer on clearance for about $30 6 months ago. It's fine for small properties.

I've got 3 Lily pillies and a hedge that's about 6m long and it easily does the job on those.

  • I have a grass trimmer. But I call it a mower.

I bought an xu1 angle grinder in 2001 for $19. Use it all the time for cutting tin sheets and bathroom renos (tile cutting). It weighs heaps and gets burning hot.. But Still trucking almost 20 yrs later.

    • Didn't even think xu1 existed in 2001. Bunnings used to sell GMC back then.

  • Does anyone know if the line trimmer actually uses line or is it one of those clip on blade ones? I actually have the Ozito power exchange one and the blades are annoying me, they fly off while using them when it's only half worn and I can't find them in the grass. For 15 bucks I might prefer having line even if it means putting up with a cable

    • If the grass trimmer is like the el-cheapo one I bought from one of our Bunnings stores about 6-8 months ago (same brand - for the same price if not less), it just has two clip-on thin flimsy plastic blades which spin thanks to the centrifugal force of the motor. Very cheap and nasty.

      • Interesting - and who owns www.xuone.com.au… Ozito Industries Pty. Ltd. !!

        • Not really that interesting.

AEG > Ryobi > Ozito > XU1 are all just Bunnings house brands.

      • Yeah that's the same except the Ozito only allows for 1 clip on blade. Funnily enough I spoke to someone who tried both and said the one blade works better
