    sounds expensive.

    • Thanks to our devalued AUD.

      • Fair point.

not just the devalued dollar.. I bought a 400GB micro SD card for $98 AUD the other day from Amazon

I wouldn't spend that much on PNY anything.

Wait till the regular SD manufacturers chip in on that size imo.

I have a PNY 128gb in my SLR and it's been faultless for 4 years. Have you ever had any specific issues with their cards?

      • +1

Yep, many usb drives, especially the biggest ones at the time. Used once, died the next time I tried.

So yeah keep negging people. Many reviews and questions on Amazon back it up.

Just check SanDisk as a comparison and you'll see far less 1 stars.

The fact many of these brands do not have 512gb cards should suggest something.

I am only going on my experience with them and their biggest storage options, which are usually bigger than the rest. Not a 128gb.

PNY has a tendency for coming out with the bigger sizes first, much earlier than their opposition. That's enough to get me questioning why.

        • If you look, there's plenty of Samsung & a few other random unknown brands 512gb out as well so they aren't the first.

I'm hardly negging you (compared to your negative stance to the deal), just asking for anecdotal evidence.

@Mechz: Well the reviews speak for themselves.

I've been burnt several times, and so have many others.

It's your data, depending on use case if you wanna take a risk with an inferior brand that's your choice. If you were just just using for something that's easily replaceable like game downloads on a Switch sure… It's one thing losing money, it's another losing something you can't replace. I doubt a professional photographer would rely on these for instance.

I'm already using Samsung 512GB in my Note 8. With discount it's about $210 from eBay (trusted dealer).

Love the storage. Basically my phone is my laptop these days.

      • For $15 more, I know what I'd be getting…

Incredible half a TB on that thing! Technology eh… back in my day my uni backpack was fully of floppy disks half of which worked half of the time

If you are talking 3.5 inch then keep walking. Your basically a millennial. If your talking 5 and a quarter then what's up my brother? Old school. Pop. Lock. Breakdancing on a large piece of cardboard.

Take your 5.25" to the hipster foot path, cassette tapes were the real deal.

        • Oh good point. Yep. My Commodore 64 used cassette.

      • Ain't no millenial haha. I be talking the hi tech 3.5". This little guy would replace 355,000 of those floppy disks(based on capacity) assuming they were all working

      • My 5 1/4" were double density disks, each only holding 360 kB of data.

They still had nothing on my 5" 10 MB hard drive!

  • Just wondering why people would need that much space. The only time I ever need anything approaching 16GB of data is when I copy my music collection to it. Video recording is the only thing I can think of. But how many of you guys do that?

    • +2

Nintendo Switch. I stick to a 400gb SanDisk.

      Thats the easy obvious one.

I wouldn't wanna keep that much on a Camera personally.

      4k videos

I don't have anywhere near all of my music on my 256gb. These are great for expanding storage on 2in1 tablets like Surface Pro etc that cost a mint if you buy them with the extra storage on board.

  • Thumbdrive is a good deal too
