Australia Post - Got Notification Message Parcel Delivered - but Not Received

Hi everyone,

Yes, another post of Australia Post. But this time is weird.

I bought stuff on Ebay, it was shipped from US via USPS, the tracking info from US is very clear. However, after arriving Australia, the tracking shows limited information.
On 26/03 I stayed at home to wait for my shipment. In the afternoon I got notification from the Aus Post app that my package was delivered. But actually no one deliver it. I found it weird so contact the customer service, they told me it was delivered. I even check my letter box, no "missing card" too.

I lodged an inquiry on Australia Post, also called them again about my case. They promised to investigate. I also contacted the seller on Ebay, it seemed they did not have insurance or signature on delivery although I paid about 20-30 for shipping cost.

The thing I found weird is why no one delivered but I got the notification that delivered. I searched on ozBargain, it seems it happens quite often. People suggest to wait one day, or come to the post office, but because I only stay at home for that day, the other day I went to work, I tried to call the local post office, they required me to bring my ID and tracking number to check, which is annoying.

TL, DR: Australia Post app sent delivered message, but no one or package delivered.

Update: go to the post office, they refused me when I ask about this tracking number. They said I already lodged the enquiry, they told me to wait for response. Such professional.

Update 2: found the package, the delivery guy threw it over my front yard, and it end up next to my plant pot.

Go to the local post office.

    • Will do. The thing I find it annoying is I cannot check by phone, I have tracking number, the name and address, phone number…. But they still require me to come to the post office to show my ID.

      • Won't make any difference if you are annoyed or not. They still will want to sight your ID.

i bought an item from aliexpress. after 4 weeks- aliexpress tracking said it had been delivered to Tamworth PO and collected. I live in Bris, delivery address was Bris. a week later it arrived at my house.

    something is (profanity) with tracking.

I know about Tamworth, it has many shops like forwarding parcels there. So probably that's the reason you got it was delivered to Tamworth PO. The staff from the shop will pick up from PO and deliver to you.

But this one from US, seems weird to me.

  • I find the text message to be accurate and the app has notified me delivered a day early.

    Hopefully it comes tomorrow.

    • Update, I found it in the front yard :)

  • Can you put the tracking number into the auspost website and see details there? Maybe the app is bit dodgy.

I've found the tracking and texts to be bit hit and miss, but overall ok.

US postage is pretty expensive so not surprised tracking wasn't included.

    Hope your package turns up.

  • Solution, as always, is to use a parcel locker. Then it's not possible to have the tracking marked delivered without it actually being available for you to take home.

AusPost delivery drivers are now taking a photo of where they have left an item - ask them to provide a copy

That happened to me once and a couple of days later, while Australia Post were still investigating, a lady from 5 doors down came by and dropped the parcel off. It had been addressed correctly, but the postie took it to the wrong address and dropped it off (in a 'safe place') at their house.

Had this happen multiple times, 'left in a safe place', even though there is no safe place to leave parcels at my address.

After aus post just kept closing my complaint saying they left the parcel in a safe place, I set up a parcel collect account, so all my parcels are sent to the post office now.

    • Update: I found it, it was left in my front yard, next to pot plant.

The driver probably just delivered it to the wrong address.

    • Happened to me once. The driver delivered the it to the wrong address, the shifty neighbor signed my name on it and help themselves to the parcel. It was a terrible merry go around trying to find out what had happened to it. In the end, the seller pursued the matter with Austpost, the seller send a replacement item and the delivery guy was sacked. Nothing happened to the thieving neighbor tho.

      • I think about this case too, since this is an apartment and there is report about lost/stolen letters in the building many months ago.

It is very dodgy that the delivery guy hand over the parcel without checking the ID of the receiver. For example someone can stand in front of the building and claim any parcel the delivery guy deliver.

  • Ive had a similar experience
Found it was delivered eventually, but somehow someone had marked it as delivered
but it hadn't been for another week lol
I wouldn't stress too much, hopefully it turns up

    • Update, I found it in the front yard, it is hard to see, but found it. :)

  • got notification message delivered but nothing receive.

    Oh….. Thats no good

I lodged an inquiry on Australia Post,

Oh good, as they are the only ones with the answer you seek.

Could be behind the pot plant at your front door… like on the TV ad ;)

It has probably been delivered to the wrong address.

I had a parcel delivered to someone else. Thankfully, they brought it to my place and left it at the front door, the next day, with a note saying it had been delivered to them by mistake.

    • Haha, congrats to you. In my case the package was threw over the fence, it landed up behind the pot, very hard to see.
      But finally found it. :)
