Samsung NU8000 65" Series 8 4K UHD LED TV $1495 @ JB Hi-Fi

450

Slightly more expensive than the Appliance Central deal for $1480 here, but may be easier for some to click and collect if that's what you're into, and should be delivered sooner too.

Seems like a great price for a very good TV.

Here's the RTings review of the TV where the TV is praised for its overall picture, smart features and 120hz refresh rate.
The main criticisms of this set are slightly washed out blacks, poor colours when viewed at wide angles, and bad sound quality (but who would buy this TV and not have even a cheap soundbar?)

Just last week on Saturday, i was able to get it from JB for $1380. Here is the receipt https://ibb.co/2dGQNmn

    • If I remember correctly 1380 was never the deal price.

    • Did you price match elsewhere or something? How did you get it this cheap?

      • +1

Yes, got it price matched against video pro last week with their 20% off sale, plus got an extra $50 off.

    • Heads down! you are true OZB! mind sharing wisdom on how you did that?

      • *hands

    • That's a top price.
      Are you happy with it?
      Cheers

    • I tried for price match to binglee ebay which is currently 1278 but they refused to match to that price. When I show them your receipt they agreed to match that. I wanted extended warranty and they reduced the 5 year extended warranty by $60.
      Thanks for sharing this mate.

      • how much was 5 year extended warranty on top?

        • $179 but I got it for $120. for total of 5 years starting today.

      • Not a problem. I'm glad I helped

  • +1

damn, i need the 55 inch

  • In OP it says 120hz refresh rate but on jbhifi and goodguys site shows the refresh rate of 200hz. can anyone confirm? Also can anyone suggest between samsung 65" nu8000 or samsung 75"nu7100? I will be using it mostly for netflix and gaming.

    • +2

For gaming you will be able to acheive 120Hz. I have this in 55" and its so good I'll probably get this 65 incher also. My only issue is the viewing angle is not good at all so I reccommend sitting directly in front of it.

      • Viewing angle sucks is a deal breaker for me on any tele. The cheap pre-collapse DSE TVs in my kids' rooms have that issue and I can't stand them.

        Thanks for the heads up.

      • Thanks. Viewing angle is not a deal breaker for me.

    • +1

Best to check the Samsung official site which says 200hz. Jbhifi probably got muddled up with their spec descriptions on their site.

The notable difference would be definitely the screen size on the 75"nu7100. However the 75" has a lower motion rate - 100 which could impact video imaging. Would strongly recommend to check out reviews on both before buying as the advertised motion/refresh rate aren't the actual ones usually (fake marketing).

      • Thanks, Will check the reviews before buying.

    • +3

There is no such thing as a 200hz native refresh rate for TV's. There is 60 and 120

  • +1

+1 for taking the time to write a condensed description. Thanks!

I think there should be an ozbargain requirement when a 65" TV is posted, OP has to specify if it's better than the Hisense 65P7 :P

    • Especially with the 65P6 at JBHiFi for $995 today.

  • This one looks good to me because of the price and my limited space. I can't with the P7 or Q6 because of their wide stand design, otherwise I have to buy a new TV entertainment unit.

  • it's not about the subject but I'm trying to decide between hisense 55" series 6 vs 55" series 7, the difference in price is about $150. Is there any significat difference for the price? Is there any other TV better than the series 6 for same/less price? (series 6 55" is $630.xx + 25 for me at ebay).

  • Paid $1750 couple weeks ago….gutted.

I don't think it's the TV, more the technology but I can see the motion blur where as my wife cannot. Just basic things like people moving their hands fast. Note I'm coming from a 7th Gen Pioneer Plasma 720p. And I got this over 100hz variants just in case….lol. And can confirm viewing angle is crap too. Other than that, interface is beautiful and picture is stunning.

    • Curious to know what happened to your plasma.
Not sure what generation I have got but it's a panasonic 50 inch 720p I bought in 2010 and it just keeps on going.
I see these deals and I look cause I will need a new one eventually but not sure when.

      • Nothing went wrong with it, it's perfect. I just wanted an upgrade. Bigger, better resolution. Wish I hadn't bothered, cos I can't watch the new one without getting angry. I have the option of taking it back, but i have no idea what to get? Even reading OLED reviews they have stutter issues where as LCD suffer from blur. I've played with the settings. You fix one issue create another with the sliders….lol. Wish I'd waited another year. Wife is happy, she can't notice it….she's the one that mainly watches it. Chalk it up to a learning experience. It's only 1700 bucks. I'd be real pissed if I'd spent double that.

        • I want bigger and better but I'm also conscious what's happening to you could happen to me. That's why I'm looking and reading comments now.
It looks like I might have to buy from a store after sitting and watching their display models for an hour or so to make sure i get the right one.

@DarwinBoy: Take something on a thumb drive. Watch a certain scene over and over at home, then go replay the same scene in store. I didn't do that.
The display content is all slow moving (or stills) 4K. You need to see motion.

            • @whorishmouth: Yep. I was thinking of taking something from home and doing exactly that.
I also like to casually game so that will help narrow down my search as well on which models to go for.

              • @DarwinBoy: This one is mint for gameplay according to Rtings.com Very low input lag.

    • +1

I think what you're experiencing is the soap opera effect.

      Try the below:
Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Auto Motion Plus > Set this to Custom > Blur Reduction 0 > Judder Reduction 0 > Clear Motion LED Off

I had the NU7100 and returned it the next day for the NU8000, much better being a 120hz panel.

  • Recently bought the 55" version of this and I'm very happy with it. Turns on/off quickly and it's quick to navigate through menus/channels. I normally have issues when playing consoles (input lag, framerate etc) but I haven't had an issue when using this TV. Worth the price if you ask me.

yeah AU $1,598.00 ex 20% = 1278.4 + 40 delivery .. im tempted… viewing agle kills it for me… need a big tv with excellent viewing angle.

      • Yea Im now between this or LG 55" OLED. The living room has plenty of sunlight, so im leaning toward getting the samsung.

        • +1

bright room definitely get lcd … i also have an oled.

    • Wow great price! hesitant to order through ebay, anybody pricematched/beat with JB or TGG?

      • I did 2 weeks ago when it was $2195 on GG's ebay 20% off. The store matched it, which i thought was odd.(I thought ebay copped 10% and the GG's 10%). So came down to $1756. Funny how when I rang HV to match it (they had a $150 rebel voucher also) they guy laughed at me when I said $1756, told me to go buy it elsewhere… a week later that's the normal price and on clearance lol.

      • I got it from Jbhifi. They didn't price match to this ebay deal but they reduced it to 1380 after looking at one of the receipt attached above and they further reduced the extended warranty from 179 to $120 for 5 total years. I would say try the price match to that ebay deal, and if that doesn't work ask them to match the price mentioned in the above attached receipt($1380). Good luck

      • Have a look at this link https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/447190?utm_source=subscrip…
if you don't want the extended warranty you can get it from good guys ebay(c&c).

    • Wow.

  • Don’t forget! Soundbar or sound system needed!

    The standard ones are horrid.

  • Thanks guys, I have bought this tv… will pick it up today

  • Bought this TV last week on Ebay with the Appliance Central deal. Would anyone know if this soundbar is suitable - HW-M360? Thanks

  • +1

Just got off the phone with jbhifi. Told them about the Bing Lee price. They will give me a refund of around ~$60 (matched bing Lee price with the 20% off and added the $40 postage). Now the tv has cost me $1320. Very happy

    • Which store did you get your TV from?

      • Did the deal in loganholme qld but picked up at helensvale

    • matched bing Lee price with the 20% off

I can't find this model on Bing Lee eBay store.

  • I literally bought it off JB 3 days ago with a price of $1495 + 60 in postage. Is there any way they will refund me some money?
At the time they said it was the cheapest deal and they aren’t making a profit but obvsly they are…

  • Buy the Sony X90F for black blacks, bright colours and great viewing angles. Don't go cheapest price and compromise the things you want in a telly.

  • Just came back from jb to get the refund. Long story short, I got back $~141. So in the end, I paid $1238.40. Very happy

    • How can you if Bing Lee doesn't have stock on their eBay store.

  • I organised it the other day. They said I have until Saturday to come and claim the refund.

  • Would the equivalent Hisense be the 8 series?

Judging by everything I've read, this is the minimum standard of TV to get for wcg and hdr performance.
