Great price… Rebel even offer Afterpay and what's better than having now and not paying.

I like this watch.
maybe a sign 945 due soon?
Possibly but my wife got this same deal about 6 months ago.
Seems an ok price, but these have had a low of around $360 previously. Hopefully other retailers will match or better as I've been on the lookout for one.
Really keen on the 735XT. Don’t think the extra features and larger size makes it worthwhile for my needs. Trouble is I decided I wanted one a month ago and best price I found was $450 on eBay. With 10% deals you don’t save much because the price I got was from Germany so got to pay for 10% GST
I purchased the 935 over the 735XT mostly for the difference in battery life. In my opinion it's been worth spending the extra money for this reason (the advanced features and data analysis has been a nice added bonus).
hmmm… thing is I can get away with the 235 but wanted the 735XT due to improved battery (also 235 is seems to be incredibly old) - going to the top of the range 935 does improve battery but i hate large watches (they dont really suit me due to having relatively small wrist). It seems Garmin Forerunner get progressively larger the higher the model number…
so $249 for 235
around $450 for 735
or $449 for 935Clearly 935 is good value with this deal but is it almost twice as good as 235?
I run about 40km a week 5-15km at a time usually and I'm sick of having to take my phone with me. I do listen to music or audio books occasionally but would prefer to leave the phone behind most of the time.
If you just need a watch for running, then I would recommend the 235. The 735XT and 935 were designed for people doing triathlons, and as such it has a lot more activities.
If you wanted to keep listening to music/audio books, then why not the Vivoactive 3 Music? At the moment it's $377 on Amazon (has been done to $270 before). However you would need a pair of wireless headphones to use it.
@jamescavs: I also cycle but mostly commuting - I dont really swim
I'm serious enough about running :) 11912km total overall distance tracked since I've started tracking runs 8-9 years ago.
heart rate monitor would be good tooI get a rebel discount from work I forgot about - at 10% off it ends up being $404.10 for the 935 so I'm going to head down and pick one u
@slick7: That's awesome about the discount. I think you'll very much love what the watch can do.
@jamescavs: I'm loving the 935 @jamescavs - I've had it for a couple of days and went for 2 runs and I'm counting down the hours until I can go for a run today :). I've setup smashrun and strava exporting since I use both (strava to socialise with other runners and smashrun for the more indepth running analytics)
It feels awesome leaving my phone behind after years of always having to carry it with me. My wife did ask a good question though. If I'm offroad somewhere 10km away from my car running through the bush what happens if I have some sort of injury? I guess I'll take the phone on the longer runs…
Next steps (pardon the pun) I've not yet been able to crack is working out how to export or sync the Garmin Connect pedometer data to Google Fit. Since I've been leaving the phone behind it looks like I've really slowed down with the daily step count :) Weight from Garmin to Google Fit would also make sense if I could sync. I wouldnt normally care but I'm trying to loose a couple of kg I seemed to have gained in the holidays.
fitnesssyncer.com seems like a possible solution but so far I've only managed to export Garmin steps (walking) to Strava. It didnt go very well through because the date of the activity was the previous day and the lenght of the activity wasn't properly defined.
@slick7: I'm glad you enjoy it. I don't use Google Fit, mostly because it had issues connecting with Garmin. Is there something Google Fit does that Garmin doesn't do? If not, then maybe just use Garmin. Garmin syncs automatically with MyFitnessPal and Strava (if you were using both of those apps).
"My wife did ask a good question though. If I'm offroad somewhere 10km away from my car running through the bush what happens if I have some sort of injury? I guess I'll take the phone on the longer runs…"
Take your phone, or hope you encounter another runner/walker on the trail who has a phone.
Is this better then the Fitbit or the galaxy watches
for running and tracking focused activity tracker and export to things like strava or similar hell yes !
I think the garmin fenix5 for 399 a while ago was a better deal.
Each to their own, but rebel let me put each on my wrist before I pulled the trigger.
Went with the FR935 because the Fenix felt extremely heavy (and I figured that I'd get annoyed with it).
Amazon has matched $449 price so with 5% cashback price is even better —- except they have 3 in stock only
https://www.amazon.com.au/Garmin-Forerunner-Heart-Watch-Blac…I have had the 935 for over a year and have been thoroughly pleased with it. Very good motivator to get to stick to running habits. If an awesome deal popped up, I would get the the 645 Music next. I see that as a logical upgrade because it is essentially the same watch but with the following added features:
Spotify (Because I dont need to take my phone on runs anymore to listen to music)
Garmin Pay (Myki cards from tomorrow will be able to support Garmin Pay. So touching the myki barriers with the watch will be pretty cool)
looks like 245 will be announced/released soonish: https://www.techradar.com/au/news/garmin-forerunner-245-may-…
Great deal.
"what's better than having now and not paying." summarises Australian economy :)
