  • great price for USB powered 1TB ! I think they had this for $99 a few months ago, see other OZB threads. Currently $99 at Goodguys, and ~$107 on staticice.

  • +1 for the $18 16gb USB drives too.. that's pretty good.

  • +2

Good luck to those who can find one in stock.

  • it's $199 in the website?

    • +1

Yep thats also the sticker price in store! strangely enough if you just walk into a PC store they can sell you one from around $108 to $125. ARC Computers have lots in stock at $108 so best non retail store price around!

  • Good price.

  • arghhh crap only NOR….goodguys had this for $94 last week…missed out too

    • Its still $99 on the goodguys website. Just price match it at HN. I went to the one at qv and pick one up for 99. Not as good as this deal though but it's in WA and im in Vic. But meh.

  • Great deal. Don't need one tho :/

  • I need one but its not in VIC :(

  • HN Peppermint grove wouldn't match the Warwick price. They said they would do $110. Then as I was leaving, I saw that they had the 2TB Samsung one on special from $199 to $127. I think I may go back tomorrow and buy it.

    • Are you referring to this one ? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36904

      • Probably. I should have know PG HN wouldn't have any good deals. They charge like wounded bulls.

I bought the Samsung 2TB 3.5" Story from HN City West before Easter for $98 after mentioning Kambo's price of $99.

It's still listed at $99 on Kambo's website:

      http://www.kambos.com.au/shop/product/samsung_2tb_external_h…

      • Thanks heaps for that. I can easily go by CW HN tomorrow. I have some HN gift vouchers I need to use up.

    I bought both the 1TB 2.5" laptop & 2TB 3.5" desktop for $99 at Chrissy & both are great.
IMO this should last for years, so just consider how far off your USB3 needs are.

    • Horses for courses, really. Sure, I still have some need for just USB2, but mainly I'd die without USB3/eSATA. When I'm moving large amounts (like what a 1TB/2TB/3TB drives are capable of) it makes a WORLD of difference. People give me large USB2 drives all the time, to fill up. Sorry, no deal. Life's too short. But, we don't see USB3/eSATA drives for this price, so we REALLY can't complain. Excellent price, great size, OK speeds.

Not sure why, but it only has 1 year warranty!

    • +1

It says 3 years on the box.

      • +1

It does. '3 Year Limited-Warranty'. It's also manufactured in Korea, not china like most of the drives are these days.

        • +1

Correct me if im wrog but if they take an already assembled hard drive from china and insert it into the case in korea that would constitute this external hard drive being manufactured in korea wouldnt it?
All I'm saying is this might be the case.

        • Then it would lawfully state something along the lines of: 'Drive origin: China, assembled in Korea'. But I really doubt they are doing that.

  • When are USB3 ones going to be this price!

    • +1

got a USB3 samsung 1tb for $127 delivered from ebay..

well worth the extra price considering the speed… transferring 1tb of files at USB2 is hell

    usb2 sux

    • Tell me more about this new "sux" extension of USB2.

You are obviously quite a gifted individual if you have intimate knowledge of the USB standard.

Maybe we have an Intel employee in our midst?

  • This S2 drive's awesome, trust me. I'm using one atm, and its been storing 250gb of videos without any problem. =)

  • are these a standard drive inside or one of those drives with the usb connector soldered to the board?

    • +3

      USB soldered to the PCB

      • +1

Which makes the drive smaller. =)

    • +1

yeh, usb interface is integrated into the drive pcb.

So just remember that if the interface dies, you can't pull the drive out and stick it in another case.

  • Malaga store had at least a dozen of them in a "bin" yesterday afternoon. Not far away was the 640G version for a higher price!

  • Thanks so much taco. Ur the best!!! ^^

  • +1

    Stock in Melbourne, anyone?

  • Stock in Brisbane, anyone? Thanks

    • +3

      Nope.. I checked queen st.

  • Bought this for 120 a couple of months ago, didn't realise the price would drop this quickly! Has performed admirably so far.

  • +1

Got one of these last time at HN for $99. Nice drive. Doesn't get hot enough that you need to remove from cover.

  • +2

I called Oz Park and Warwick today and they were out of stock, but I stopped by Belmont on the way home and they had a crate full of them 'on sale' for $127. Showed the the PDF and asked to price match, which they were happy to do.
