EDITED Added USD to title.
Starts tomorrow. Got an email from GOG today, guess they are flogging it off before the Witcher 2 comes out.

Then you'll have to wait for a pricedrop from $5 to $1 :P
I see what you did there! Possibly anyone younger than me (us?) won't appreciate the classic humour
I know hey! :) its old but its a classic RoboCop came out when i was a kid and its a shame they havent made a reboot of it or a NEW Videogame.
As one of the aforementioned younger ones do you mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85cL1HisrNc
fantastic game
Where do you activate/ download the game from?
GOG. They distribute games.
Damn, thanks. I thought it may have been a Steamworks game.
Bonus content included for FREE with the game: manual
Since when is the manual "bonus content"?
It is more and more with digital distribution games. Personally I think games should be developed well enough that a booklet to tell you how to play it should be redundant.
Yet another game distribution website. I'm not a fan of monopolies but I also don't want my games spread across 5 different game networks.
I feel exactly the same way.
GOG is better than Steam IMO - they have no DRM on any of there games at all. Anything you buy can be downloaded again and again, installed any number of times.
In the traditional sense - you own the game, and can do whatever you want with it. But, you could end up being responsible for storing it if GOG ever go out of business.. Much like a retail copy!
If you want, you can download it, back it up to anything, and never have to visit GOG again. You also don't need to screw around with 'offline mode' or any other crap like that. ;)
From what I understand, GOG doesn't have a platform. So not true in this case (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). You have to log into their website to download your game again, but you never need a client running.
*No drm. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here when applied to newer titles like the witcher 2?
*Theyve been around for ages, they aren't new.
*Also, they have a list of free games if you just want to see what it's all about.
I'd be all over them myself, except I actually have played / own most of the old games I'm interested in already.
Whilst your point is fair (and I agree with it), try something on GOG.
How do lists work in Markdown/Markdown extra syntax? Worst language I've ever seen.. I'm sure its a standard or something but GAH
Actually a really great game, thoroughly worth it at that price! Would strongly recommend for any RPG fan.
This game gets sensational reviews but I'm always baffled by the reasoning behind discounting the first game just before a sequel comes out.
If I bought this for $5 it'd be at least 6 months before I finished it and by then the Witcher 2 would be at least 50% cheaper than its original RRP.
Sounds like a win-win situation to me!
Pretty sure I bought this for ~$3 on Steam.
No, no you never did.
As can be seen here, the cheapest it's been on sale on Steam is $4.99 USD (and that version still has DRM, the GOG version doesn't. I also own The Witcher 1 on Steam, but for $5 I'm more than happy to support the DEVELOPERS (the CD Projekt is owned/part of Good Old Games) and have a copy I can play on my laptop etc. and I don't need to be signed in to Steam to play it.)

Well, hence why I said 'Pretty Sure'.
Never purchased online games. But this title looks great. 9gb of stuff. With the strong Aussie dollar. You should put US$ in the title. So it will be less than $4.99
Highly recommended. Not just because of the Witcher but GOG.com. Fantastic service. You can pre-order without paying and you download a DRM free game package where you just install the game to your computer. No excess client and all.
GOG can't spell 'tomorrow'
However I will be buying this game - thanks for the heads up!
Hope the sever can handle all the downloads and doesn't get to slow and overloaded with all the people downloading.
Unsure of their capacity, but I'd imagine they are familiar with the load.. They've been around 2008 and already have quite a large catalogue available.
Word of warning, the game doesn't free up virtual memory properly, so you'll experience missing textures and crashes after playing for an hour or so. That being said, it's a really solid WRPG.
P.S I personally don't like these online distribution platforms cause Aus' broadband is 2nd world :p
The Enhanced Platinum Edition is currently on special @ EB games for $7.95 for those who don't want to download 9gb or only have small monthly limits.

Hmm.. I played through it without any crashes at all… nVidia card and Win7 64. Assuming you have the latest drivers and latest version of the game, shouldn't have any issues.
+1 to no texture issues. Your video card could actually be dying?
Only issue I ever had occurred after finishing the game. I went to load a savegame and complete the game again using different choices for the "game changing decisions". A show-stopping bug stopped me from activating a mandatory quest.
It was to do with triggering an event in a sewer at a particular time. Meet some guards and go up a ladder or something. Guards came, wouldnt speak to me, couldn't continue.
Actually was possibly the worst bug I've ever seen. But at least I finished the game the first time.
Did anyone notice that the Witcher 2 on GOG is about the same price as on Steam, but comes with a $26 credit to spend on GOG? It also comes with some other bonuses too.
I'll buy THAT for a dollar!! :)
