    Decent price for a 2080!

  • These prices are becoming more reasonable for a 2080!

  • I've been looking at GTX 1080s on ebay, maybe it's worth throwing a few extra hundred on for one of these…

    • They're double the price of a used 1080

      • Yeah but the 1080s are a few years old at this point so concern me for lifespan used. And no 1080 I’ve seen recently is less than $600 on eBay, they’re all used with a bit of an unknown history.

        • Try a used GTX 1080 Ti, which performs within 5% of this card.

          • +2

@Bigboomboom: From my experience you will struggle to get a used 1080ti for under $850. For an extra $100 it's a no brainier to me.

            • @arcticjuggernaut: Conversely a few weeks ago I sold my GTX 1080 Ti (listed for $999 on weekend = $1 ebay fee)

to buy an EVGA RTX 2080 for $949 and made $26 profit after ship+fees for the small but significant bump in video performance I now have.

GTX 1080 Ti are still going for a grand on eBay but be wary of prices starting to fall and don't make the mistake of keeping your price high if it does.

              https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=gtx+1080+t…

(protip: list on weekends to pay only $1 in ebay fees)

              • @Diji1: Yeah I wish I got that deal, it's more expensive now. Sorry I was inferring that for $100 absolutely worth buying 2080 although I am mostly looking at 'buy it now' listings.

            • @arcticjuggernaut: I've regularly seen 1080tis for under $800 on gumtree (never on eBay however)

            • @arcticjuggernaut: I literally bought a 1080ti used for $702 a week ago on ebay.

The card even had two years of warranty left over

            • @arcticjuggernaut: Got me a brand new 1080ti for $660 last week. Woooosh 😀

Get on them auctions win some good shit.

          • @[Deactivated]: Illustrates the bargain here rather nicely: the 2080 is 4% ahead on game performance and cheaper but for some reason people think the 1080 Ti is 45% better value if I'm interpreting the page correctly.

That performance gap is only going to get wider with later drivers.

The 1080 Ti may have longer legs for people that keep their cards for ages without upgrading because of RAM capacity (although they have roughly the same RAM throughput because the 2080 RAM is faster). But I was intending on upgrading next gen after 20 series in any case so a "free" upgrade made sense.

            • @Diji1: Well said .. plus you get Ray Tracing.. what ever that is. :)

          • @[Deactivated]: That's a great deal. I've seen them for as low as $650 on gumtree but who knows how legit that may be. The safety net of PayPal/eBay makes your find that much better

      • 1080's have been going for at least $550. So not quite double, plus you get the games. The performance is also no where near the same.

  • +1

Triple fan, A-series GPU and fan stop at idle.

    Good buy.

    • If only they had it listed on their ebay store. I've got gift cards sat there staring at me…

      • Even if it was the full 15% on those, that's likely only going to reach $850 for the foreseeable future.

If you're doing a full system build, this is a worthwhile stepping stone.

  • +7

Unfortunately, it wasn't the dropped $260 that stopped me from buying…. It was the $939….

  • How are inno for warranties? I have read bad things about them and Galax which had me leaning toward a gigabyte.

    • gigabyte goes through retailer

    • Inno3d are more a tier 2 manufacturer (like Palit, Gainward, etc.), so I'd rate Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and EVGA above them.

    • If you're leaning towards gigabyte for good warranty. Boy are you in for a rude shock.

Their support in the USA is great. In Australia it's utter garbage (as I am intimately familiar with)

      • +1

Same with companies like Asus, Corsair, etc. In the US/Europe they provide direct RMA. In Australia they're rude, outright lie, and won't do anything directly unless / until they're contacted by a consumer affairs department.

Quite a few local retailers, PCCG, PLE, MSY won't RMA for anyone other than the original buyer, so you end up needing to contact the distributor / manufacturer directly.

Companies like Intel, MSI, Seagate, WD, G.Skill, EVGA, Geil, Seasonic, Crucial, etc. do provide a direct RMA service.

        • By law it is your choice to deal with the importer/manufacturer or the retail store. The retailer does not have a choice.

    • if it aint evga warranty sucks.

had a 970 that died…… they sent me an 1070 as the replacement (it was out of warranty by a few months)

      • +1

But if it's an EVGA product with an engineering problem, they'll happily keep producing and selling it whilst ignoring the issue.

    • In AUS it's irrelevant. You can return to the retailer, and they must accept your return and make you good (either replace or refund) in a reasonable time. Their excuses about manufacturers taking time etc etc, is not your concern, nor a valid reason to delay your remedy. Trying to make you go via manufacturer is precisely what MSY has been spanked hard for by the ACCC lately.

  • Anyone know the height of this card? I have a Corsair Air Carbide 240 case and i recently bought a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X and it didnt fit due to the locking mechanism of the case, basically the card was too tall…A stock 1080 will fit i believe…

    • +1

      http://www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=384
      Length 268mm
      Height 113mm
      Width 2slot

    • try NZXT Kraken G12 and a compatible liquid cooler to replace the stock cooler of GPU

      • Wasnt the cooler, its actually the card itself is higher than the stock cards…

      • Im thinking of doing this to my card. Have you done this? And how is your experience, as I've read its worth getting the extra copper cooling for the ram modules etc.

        • That't the last option if the stock cooler doesn't fit/do proper cooling. $200 cooler is not a wise choice for any graphic card under $500

          • @wt860: thanks. got a msi armor edition 1080ti and its notoriously hot. My case is a little small, but I still think it'll be worth it if it drops max temps by 20 degrees. No way I'd blast $200 on a cooler. Thanks for the feedback

            • @DarthAntz: FYI Kraken G12 costs around $50 and a decent 240 liquid cooler costs around $100. Or you can go wild with Noctua D14 CPU cooler attached to your GPU by $5 metal brackets sold on ebay

              • @wt860: legend. I'm going to size up the aigo cpu cooler from aliexpress. I've got it on my cpu and its fine. I'll do a bit more research and see if getting some ram cooling modules and better thermal pads to stick in on with will be better overall if using the kraken G12. Not at the price in the link.

    • +1

In case (hhuehuehuehue) your still wondering go to Corsair's page for the case then look at specs and it will tell you maximum size for video cards so you know it will fit or not.

  • I've searched but can't find anything concrete, does anyone know if this is a reference board? Am keen to look at after market cooling options later on.

    • Can't believe I just spent this much on a video card, sick of waiting for second hand 1080ti's without warranty that are realistically priced. This card does have a reference PCB for anyone else who's interested in liquid cooling with third party coolers later on. Also has a slightly higher 30 mhz boost than the Founders Edition which is much more expensive anyway.

  • I assume this card has been discontinued, as it is either "discontinued" or "out of stock" on some other retailers stores atm.

  • Yea Nividia now you know how to set your price

  • +1

Does anyone claim their video card as a tax deductible purchase? I work as a casual research assistant in a lab where I help program experiments involving 3d and vr stuff. Wondering if I can claim this video card? Could I claim it in full or only portion of it?

    • A portion aligned to how you use that computer for work. *not financial advice..

    • You'll also have to depreciate it in line with ATO guidelines. Keep that in mind so your actual annual claim may be very little

      • Hasn't the cut off for a full claim now gone to something like $3000? So may not require multiple years.

        • Small businesses get up to 20k per asset. Individual taxpayers are still limited to the standard $300 limit before depreciation rules apply

  • +1

    Any 2070 deals?

  • I have to close this browser tab before I buy the video card. I have no time to use it but yet I'm screaming "$939! Bargain" and it makes absolutely NO sense. Ozbargain effect.

    • It's hard. Being bottom of the line re power delivery etc is holding me back. 8GB could be an issue for longevity as well. Another 2080ti at 1499 and I would probably go for it.

  • Does this card use Samsung memory?

  • This is cheaper by about 18000yen than any other 2080 card in japan

    • I reckon. Amazon JP prices are ridiculous. Bic Camera is a laugh too.

  • Is ASUS a slightly better brand for only a bit more with the 10% off eBay at the moment? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-RTX2080-8GB-TURBO-Gaming-PC…

    • +4

      Better brand? Probably.
But I'd take this inno3d over a blower-style card any day!

    • +1

The cards have different levels of GPU 300 and 300A. The power delivery is also different depending on pricing level. This with the cooling solution affects the base clocks they run at. So the cards have different levels of performance within the same GPU model. They also run at different temperatures and noise levels.
      Have a look here.

  • This deal has SOLD OUT now.

    • Time for a RTX 2080ti then.

      • something might be coming tomorrow

        • Any of the ASUS Rog Strix 2080 Ti cards for the low and I'll buy =D

  • Sweet..any 2080 ti under $1500 is a buy for me. Missed the last one

  • Dumb question but where do we find the serial number for game redemption? and how many digits is it?
