Will these work to boost the RAM to 16GB for the Techfast PCs in this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/439977
You better off using 2 like for like RAM. Best case scenario it will make this one run at the lower speed the other one can handle.
If it runs at rated speeds it will be ok, slow timings but very cheap too. Any dual channel will be better than the single channel setup they offer with techfast
Showing as AUD$62.70 now
Hmmmm… thinking of pulling the pin and selling my 2400mhz… reckdecisions ons decisions
Sorry, half drunk. I know what I'm trying to say
Hardly worth the minor upgrade.
Sweet! Bought 4 sticks :)
I posted a deal with the 16gb kit a few weeks ago. Works beautifully woth my Ryzen 2600, does 3200, 16-18-18-something with no problems at all. Tempted to get more! Can strongly recommend
Which motherboard are you running? I'd read people were having issues getting even rated speeds with AMD.
MSI B450 Tomahawk. This ram appears on their QVL as well
Works at 3000mhz on my 2600 but only 2933 on my 1700 (was crashing once every couple of weeks @3000). Both are using x370 boards and no tweaking of timings just simple speed change .
Why does it look like this RAM has a sticker in lieu of a heatspreader? Might have something to do with the crashes people are reporting.
Thanks very much, got 2 sticks! Came up as $127.30 for me.
What, when did ram become reasonable again?
It's getting better, and newegg seems to be on the head of it (for us at least). 9/10 RAM deals I have seen in 2019 have been from Newegg.
For a Gaming Ryzen build, am I better off with 2 x gb or a single 8gb stick?
For a gaming build, you probably want 2x8 over 1x8 or 2x4.
Ram prices are going to drop further if you can wait.
yep
@demiurge
Do you have a source for for that ? Not doubting you just curious.
Found this article.
Don’t know how reliable it is

That explains this deal. Not that it's dropping further 😉
Bought 2 sticks… that should do me for a while
Still pisses me off we have to pay GST and import tax
Seems about $70-80 cheaper than a decent sale so, bought ahead of a Ryzen 3000 series, worst case scenario is ram gets faster and cheaper and selling these for around this price used is probably an option.
Appears to be "Out of stock" now.
It came back to stock
I hear these take Aegis to arrive from Newegg.
