    Too much messing around.

    • +13

Need more hoops to jump through

      • +7

probably better off selling hoops and make 100 profit

    • +1

They are clearly aiming this at people that want to open an account and make it their primary bank account. If youre just looking for a quick $100 then it's probably not the best but also not impossible.

      • made it last time, not that hard, free money tho,why not

  • +20

20 transactions a month? What am I, a crack addict?

    • +2

Top up your public transport pass on a daily basis?

    • +17

Your dealer takes eftpos? I need to talk to mine.

  • +3

Who else claimed the $100 from last promo, transferred out the cash and now leaves the account dormant?

Probably trying to avoid a repeat with the new rules

    • +2

      Been thinking about closing it….

      • -8

        Me too!

        • +1

So you're saying you got the $100?

So why have you neg voted?

          • @DogGunn: I did not. My son was playing with the phone and accidentally neg voted.

    • +3

I closed the Everyday account, but opened an eSaver Extra, which offers 2.9%, if $250 per month is added and no withdrawals are made.

    • I kept mine and opened up an online savings account as well. Much better rate than ING or ME and no silly requirement to tap your card every week.

      • +4

Much better rate than ING or ME

I don't think it is much better, especially with the no withdrawl requirement.

If you make 1 withdrawl in a year the CUA rate becomes much worse.

Ubank is 0.03% lower and has no spend or withdrawl requirement. I think that is the better choice.

        If you have $50,000

        • In CUA and make 1 withdrawl you get $1,345.34 interest in a 12 month period
        • In ubank you get $1,454.03 interest for the same period
        • Well it suits me better as I have no immediate plans to draw the money out. A few times with ME bank I came close to losing the bonus interest due to the stupid weekly card tap.

Ubank is owned by NAB which are so large that if the government bank guarantee were to come into effect you'd only get cents on the dollar.

          • @JIMB0: Isn't up to $250,000 guaranteed?

            • +1

@pistachio: $250k per person and $20 billion per institution which would only cover about 5% of the funds on deposit at one of the big 4 banks. This is if the government decide to enact the guarantee in the first place.

              • @JIMB0: They would have been taken over by APRA and money given back to everyone way before all your savings there was lost…only a small amount of deficiency is allowed before the guarantee kicks in.

      • +1

ING's international ATM fee rebate is awesome; with the wife overseas in Thailand recently I was saving almost $10 on every visit to the ATM.

Any savings just go against the mortgage, so interest rates on savings are of no interest to me.

  • Can we get referral credits with this deal? The random referral link doesn’t seem to be working.

  • +5

    I don't understand the complaints.

Fast payments are eligible transactions for the purpose of 20 transactions per month. Once a month just transfer $2500, make 20 transactions to any other account (this will take you about 10 minutes), transfer remaining money out.

    Easy $100.

    • Soooo you could do this and get the $100?

"Your Bank" transfer $2500 to CUA (April)

CUA transfer $250 - 10 times back to "Your Bank"

"Your Bank" transfer $2500 to CUA (May)

CUA transfer $250 - 10 times back to "Your Bank"

      Profit…..

      • +2

20 times each month, but yes.

    • I'd rather make 20 1c paywave transactions at Coles/Woolies at night. Easier than making transfers on a computer.

      • +4

        How is it easier?

        • Press split payment
        • Enter amount
        • Pay with card
        • Wait
        • Repeat 19 times

Or you could set up your account to transfer $1 each day and never touch it again for 2 months

        • Yeah that's a great idea. I was thinking of doing 40 transfers manually.

          • @truetypezk: I think you could still do the 40 manual transactions faster than at a checkout.

            • +1

@spaceflight: Is it? I never really tried speeding multiple transfers, but splitting payment at coles is just:
              1. press split payment
              2. enter 1 (it becomes 1c)
              3. press enter
              4. tap card, wait for abt 2s max as it is an offline payment without doubt.
If you get familiar with the process it is 5s max/1c. I've done quite a lot of 1c with multiple credit cards offers and find it pretty fast. I think it is faster than clicking mouse and selecting payees n etc. But ur auto transfer idea is epic!

              • @truetypezk: I haven't split payments before, but it seems it would be harder.

I haven't checked the conditions to see if automatic transfers are allowed, you might want to if you are going to rely on it to get the $100

                • @spaceflight: Remember the deal requires you download and set up the app as well as the rest of the fluffing around.

  • Is the $75 referral in addition to this offer?

  • -3

Good for someone who wants to mess around transferring most likely 6k + and who like working for $1 p/h :)

    • +18

If it takes you 100 hours to do this I'd say $1/h is about all you're worth.

    • +2

For paywave transactions at supermarkets it takes about 10s/each, 40 trans is about 6-7mins. Transfer in/out 4 times in 2 months is about another 4 mins. Total outlay is about 10 mins for $100, which is $600/hr. If you earn that much then probably you shouldn't be wasting your time on OzB.

      • Or you could set up a daily transfer of $1.
It took me less than a minute.

        • Do you mean just daily repeat online transfer of $1 to another bank account?

  • 40 transactions in 2 months is a bit much.

  • I'd use CUA if the app on my iPhone XS would work..

  • Where do I find my referral code?

    • It's the page that OP links to: EACASH100

  • +1

Back in my day, the CUA app didn't support NPP Fast Payments yet, so I had to use the website. And unless things have changed, you have to wait 24 hrs before the ability to receive via NPP is "activated".

An extra annoyance in this case is that many/most(?) banks have a $1000 fast payment cap (in my case, ING), so you're either looking at 3 days of transfer work or losing a few cents in interest.

  • How do I know the promo code was entered correctly and accepted? It seems that no way to check whether I have taken this offer.

    • If you typed it in then it will apply to your account

  • So can you close your account and sign up again with this offer?

    • No you can't

To qualify for the $100 reward, you must meet all the qualification criteria below:

I've previously opened a CUA account, but closed it because the website and app were terrible.
That said, I joined them in the first place because they're a credit union and not part of the big 4 that rule all.

With this it looks like they've rejigged themselves a bit, so its worth another try for $100.

    • You won't get $100.

      Read the conditions

CUA are awesome been with them for over 15 years, moved from Commonwealth and ANZ banks and have not looked back…. great customer service and a very good alternative to the big 4.

    • Have to agree. Only been with them for about 1.5 years but they were the only bank willing to give us a loan on an investment. Even Our old bank, Bank Australia where we had managed to pay back our loan in 12 years and had savings with wouldnt touch us. Anyway CUA have been great to us and they offer good products with few fees.

  • CUA is a worthwhile bank to move too. They have a Bonus Saver Account at 2.90%, I recommend the move especially with the $100 deal.

  • ‘Download the iM CUA app and select your CUA Personal Banker.’ - how do you select your personal banker?

    • how do you select your personal banker?

By picking them in the app. When you open it the bankers come up with a profile and you pick the one you want.

      • Mine didnt show up

        Would you be more specific?
        Thanks

        • +1

You download and install the iM CUA app.
          Then you sign in.
          Then you pick a banker.

        • +1

It's a seperate app from the CUA app.

          • +2

@Juju123: Makes sense now, thanks! :)

Gosh they make you jump through hoops!

  • +1

This is a good deal, so thank you for posting it!

I'd consider moving to them completely, but unfortunately they charge an extra 3.4% for all international transactions. Some other "challenger" banks have dropped this charge.

  • Glad Jimbo set myself up for your most like comment on this thread . BTW I know multi millionaire that got to their position by being tight a$$'s .

  • -2

To finish I know of much easier ways for $100 than this , try my job for 20 mins might be the go LOL. Guaranteed neg out :)

  • +1

How do you select your CUA Personal Baner?

  • Can you deposit 2500 in and transfer 2500 out next day?

  • Still yet to get my $75 credit for using the referral code. It is impossible to talk to real person when you dial to their customer service centre. I would not trust them.

    • I signed up last time and used the wrong referral code, idiots posted a bunch of invalid codes for the last deal. Pretty pissed off about that.

  • If you click on the OzBargain referral link at the top of the page it goes to a CUA website with username/password saying:

"You do not have permission to access the asset"

Is it supposed to do that? Or have they revoked the referral program?

  • +1

how long does it take to set one up? I applied on Saturday and they said they'd get back to me …

    still waiting ….

  • Apple Pay included as an eligible transaction?

  • +2

    Just did transfers for April:
    1. Transferred into CUA $2600 (extra just to be sure)
    2. NPP fast payment out 26 x $100 (extra just to be sure)
    3. Now wait for May and repeat steps 1 and 2.

There is a limit of 5 NPP fast payments from web login but it resets if you log out and back in again.
No such limit on the CUA app.

    • I did that sort of thing and they called me and asked what was going on? I just said I was messing around with it.

  • Lets say theoretically that someone waits until the last day of April to do the 20 transactions… :/

Whats the best way to get these done?

    • Lol. Did you find a solution to your theoretical situation?

    • Fast payment using PayID for 20 transactions

  • Almost missed this part

Download the iM CUA app and select your CUA Personal Banker.

I just downloaded the regular app, but the iM cua app is a separate app for talking to customer service agents. Caught it just in time

    • +1

Good pickup! Nearly missed it as well.

Transferred in the required $2500 this morning then did 20 NPP external payments to other accounts.

Now the waiting game… conditions say the $100 will be paid by 21 June 2019.

      • +1

The waiting game sucks. Lets play hungry hungry hippos!

        • Hungry hungry hippos is awesome!

    • Yeah, thanks. It doesn't say when you have to download that by though, does it? Just do it.

  • Comments reopened by request.

  • Anyone get the $100 yet?

    • +2

Not yet.. it’s due by Friday though. Nothing yet.

    • Received just now :)

    • Also just got it!

    • Received mine too.

  • +1

    Yesss got mine

  • +1

I got mine. Now time to close the account.

  • +2

    Got it! Thanks OP

  • Got mine!

  • Got mine as well. :-)

  • Got mine as well.
Is it possible to close it online?

  • Got mine too!

  • Selecting the banker in the imcua app has to be done in the 2 months(april,May) as well?

    • Doesn’t say.

Did you forget to do this during April and May?

  • I got mine too. So did wife.

  • Their online banking system doesn't recognise the transaction dates, but use their own settlement date to determine the eligibility for this promotion.

I made some last purchases on 31/May and now they insist these transactions are not eligible!

For AMEX or CBA, there are always one date which is the transaction date. How doggy CUA is.

How can I complain them now?
