How 'high pressure' is 2000psi? Like is this a good one?

    • +8

Manufacturers keep misleading buyers…. This is not 2000psi, operating pressure is 1450psi! http://manualsau.ttigroupna.com/system/files/466/original/ry… last page on the manual

      • Hmmm how can they get away with it. The shock and horror!!

    • +1

I have this exact one, it is high enough to do all ordinary jobs around the house. Anything higher is almost commercial grade.

      • +2

Commercial grade is a much higher flow rate.

2000 psi at 7 litres per minute won't be as good as maybe 1600 psi at 9 litres per minute.

    • +1

It's high pressure but low flow rate.

High flow rate at a lower pressure will work better.

  • +1

Will this good enough to clean the drive way?~

    • +6

use a broom. Don't waste water.

People who hose their driveways down in drought conditions deserve to be impaled upon the spires of orgrimmar.

      • +19

What if you are a 65yo greek man and so it's part of your culture and heritage?

      • +2

And what if a broom doesn't cut it? Pressure washer to the rescue.

        • +2

          Followed by condemnation and death

        • A pressure broom is the next step

      • Pressure washer doesn't really use that much water.

        • About 7 litres per minute, which is more than if you don't hose your driveway.

      • Pressure washing actually uses less water than a hose on its own

        • It uses less water per minute than a tap turned to the max.

You can still use more water overall.

      • We have the DESAL plant there is no drought…bah bah ……..Vic….. if only it would work….

    • Yes

    • I bought this model days ago… Sad… It is powerful enough to clean the driveway and concrete surface as I did. Also useful to wash my car. 89 dollars? Real bargain. I paid $129 … $@d…

  • +1

i got this not really loving it. I got an MJJC snow foam attachment too to wash the car - doesnt really foam up properly. I might go for the better quality ones next time

    • +1

I got an MJJC snow foam attachment

Anything containing MJ is going pear shaped these days.

    • Have you tried changing the orifice in the bottle? You need to use the one with the smaller hole for pressure washers with lesser PSI. Oh and what soap are you using?

      • Have you tried changing the orifice in the bottle?

I didnt know this. will check when i get home. I am using meguiars wash n wax

        • Also try a dedicated snow foam it works better than standalone car shampoo. I recommend Concours SNOW or SNOW+ depending if your car is coated.

          • @4agte: I am new to pressure washer foam cleaning technique (came across videos on YouTube); I have a brand new Toyota and paid $1000 extra to the dealer for ‘paint protection’. Should I be using Concours SNOW or SNOW+?

            Thanks

Good little pressure washer for the price, I've washed the car and done the driveway with it.
However don't expect the soap dispenser to be like a snow foam cannon. It's more like soapy water, so I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone.

Aldi is doing a 2400w/2600 psi on Sat 23rd for 99
seems besides the slight edge on power it also comes with more attachments?

    • where do you see 23rd. I can only see specials till 19th

      • just picked the catalog today, wait a bit and somebody will post it soon enough

          So you have the catalogue

wait a bit and somebody will post it soon enough

          Somebody like you?

    • The Aldi one had a max flow rate of 6.8L/min vs the Ryobi one at 7.2L/min. So that's one difference where the Ryobi has an edge.

      • +2

Using more water is a positive?

        • Yes a higher flow rate (even at a lower pressure) will work better

  • +1

I've had one for over a year and it's fantastic. Have used it for my driveway, pavers, limestone etc. Blasts the dirt, oil and paint stains away.

Have used it for a few 3 hour stints too.

It comes with a little clip on filter attachment where the house connects. I removed that and changed the hose attachment to a quality one ($4 at Bunnings). Works perfectly now.

    • Is it higher pressure than a coin car wash?

  • Due to construction next door my balcony looks like it's been through a sandstorm. There is no garden tap nearby and intense manual scrubbing has removed some but not all of the grit in the tiles. What to do?

    • I had the same issue with my balcony but the Karcher I had could draw from a bucket of water which solved the problem of not having a tap nearby. Just put the intake hose into some sort of resovoir and you should be good to go. Not 100% sure that would work with this Ryobi but I'd think they all work the same way.

    • This model seems to need to be attached to a hose. No mention of a bucket in the manual I could find

      • I have this power washer and it can suck water out of a bucket

    • Buy one of these

It's how I filled my mattress.

  • Aldi vs Ryobi vs Gerni?

    • +1

Latest Choice magazine is saying Gerni. Can't remember the model.
That Ryobi model was ranked about 5th from memory… I'll check and post when I get home.

    • My old (8+ years) Aldi one was actually made by Karcher and is still going strong.

    • At this price point they are all pretty similar. I have the larger Ryobi and I suspect it is made my Karcher due to its M22 fitting. If money want an issue I would buy a Kranzle.

    • Personally I think the $149 Gerni 'kit' from Bunnings is my choice ($129 standalone without the extra bits).

Metal pump internal being the main reason.

  • Wouldn't recommend this at all. Sent this to my father overseas 2 years back and it only lasted 3-4 uses before it started loosing pressure. Now the pressure is like 200psi

    • Maybe the nozzle is loose?

  • +2

Was looking at this but picked up the Gerni Classic 125.5 instead for 149.
It comes with various attachments including the patio cleaning attachment. Don't think you can clean your driveway and patio properly without these attachments.

    • I bought the Gerni Classic 125.5 for 149 2 days ago too then saw the Aldi one, I was tempted to return the Gerni but I need really like the patio head. Just wish the Gerni offered 5 years warranty like Aldi.

      • you may be able to pick one up that fits the Aldi one but obviously it would be a hassle finding one that fits.

I bought the Gerni Classic 125.5 for 149 2 days ago

Where did you buy the Gerni Classic from as I cant seem to find one anywhere near that price you mentioned?

  • +1

This thing is cheap and rubbish.

After 13 month use, it toppled over when I pulled the hose that was connected to it and now it stopped working. Been using this for 13 months.

    • How was it when it was still working though?

      • It was good when it was working for the 13 months.

Edit: I can't remember when I bought it now..

  • +1

Are these equivalent to the ones you throw $2 per min at the cleaning stations? If so I’m in!

    • +2

No, those ones have a much higher flow rate

  • don't waste your money, this is rubbish and i think that's why bunnings website doesnt mention any warranty on product page. Karcher is $99 & has 5 years warranty. $99 model doesnt have very long hose.

  • Damn, paid full price for this yesterday.

    • +1

      Go back and return it.

      • +4

Buy another and return it with old reciept

  • I've got the 2200PSI version, which has a fair bit of power (but for alot more money). That version can easily cut through grime when washing the car. Would imagine this is decent as well, but not as brutal.

The most annoying thing is the 5m hose length. Its too short, means you constantly have to move the unit around whatever you're washing

  • Just bought a Karcher 1400W 1600psi k2 basic plus 2 days ago :(

  • -3

Think this one might be better have no experience in these things.
    http://www.rapidg.com.au/epages/shop.mobile/?Locale=en_AU&Ob…

  • Is this too powerful to wash a car?

    • I asked on my car forum and 'they' said even the lowest pressure thing is fine.

Wasn't that long ago and we were all using standard hose nozzles.

  • Can anyone comment on using one of these units to was your car VS the $1 do it yourself machines?

I understand the $1 machines are higher power, but do you really need it?

Currently live inner city where these wash stations are few and far between with huge lines whenever I want a wash!

Also - always wanted one of these grate buckets but is it just me or is this a rip off? $49 for 3 buckets? - https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-wed-20-…

  • Does anyone have trouble fitting the gardem hose into thr water input nozzle ?

  • what about this one?
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-23-…

    more power for $10 more
yes its aldi but they're not that bad

  • Website doesn't show stock levels very well. I picked one up from the Footscray Bunnings today, at least another 4 or 5 on the shelf at the time.

Picked this one over the ALDI one due to the better L/min rate others have said.

Doesn't say on the website but this one has a 4 year replacement warranty.

  • Back to $129 now.Wanted to get one. Missed out
