  • not selling the extra battery ?

    • Yes, we do sell extra battery separately. But we haven't launch the product on our website yet. It should be coming within this week. Meanwhile i would recommend you to follow our facebook for our latest product news.

    For the uninformed would you mind explaining the main differences between the Xiaomi M365 Electric Scooter vs this Segway Ninebot?

    • +2

      this is what lime scooters use
      this is better for heavier people, has more power and range. can upgrade battery too.
      not as smooth a ride due to the lack of tyres
      heavier than the 365 also

    • So, Segway is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. I am sorry i could not provide further information about the difference as i am still looking for it.

      • +1

        Actually Ninebot owns the brand Segway. Xiaomi invested in Ninebot but does not own them.

      I think this Reddit post sums it up pretty well.

  • Love these, but would be great to know where this is legal to ride, sadly WA hasn't caught up with the 20th Century yet :(

      So, currently in NSW it is legal to ride only on pedestrian for any scooters as scooters does not count as bike so it does not necessary to follow the rules of bike. However, i would recommend to ride with caution while on the pedestrian.

        A pedestrian is a person travelling on foot, whether walking or running. In some communities, those travelling using tiny wheels such as roller skates, skateboards, and scooters, as well as wheelchair users are also included as pedestrians.

        • Thanks for the additional information!

        • Magicmann is right, it's not classified as a foot scooter but a powered foot scooter, do what I do when you see a cop or ranger just start using your foot instead of the motor, they won't be as inclined to pull you up

          • @markdownhunter:

            they won't be as inclined to pull you up

            Whilst he/she may not be 'inclined' it does not guarantee you won't be hit with a $630 fine in NSW !

            I'd be looking for a higher degree of certitude.

            • @ash2000: That's what the top speed of 25km/h is for.

      • +3

        This says it's only legal on private land

        https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/pedestri…

      • +3

        Please don't ride on the pedestrian.

        • Ride the pedestrian and not on them :)

      • +1

        Whether you ride on a "pedestrian" (?) or any place in public the fine in NSW is approximately $630.

        Frankly, I can think of less stressful ways if getting from A to B.

    • We'd need to get the laws and public awareness of said laws right - it's still hectic between pedestrians, bicycles and cars.

  • +1

    I don't think this is legal in NSW as yet. Refer to excerpt from Armstrong Legal:

    PROHIBITED VEHICLES

    Vehicles under this category include but are not limited to:-
    •All petrol powered bicycles are banned from use in NSW roads. "Segways" and similar vehicles are also banned. If a vehicle has a motor (electric or petrol) and is not registered, it is probably banned.
    Motorised foot scooters;
    •Mini-bikes;
    •Monkey bikes;
    •Motorised human transporters; and
    Motorised skateboards.

    And as per Magicmann's link: Powered foot scooters and skateboards cannot be registered and can only be used on private land

    But hey, that hasn't stopped tech savvy Ozbargainers with the Xiaomi M365 deals.

      See they're going about this the wrong way - there's so much potential for additional government red tape here… Just allow the scooters & issue expensive permits, licenses, registration, liability insurance and education - they could form an entire new wing of executives just to manage it. Imagine how many people could be employed just to produce the Q3 2019 safety report. They'd be surveys, charts, statisticians, researchers, legal representatives, and financial assistants to just manage the budgets for international business class travel allowances.

      I bet it's ok to ride a fricken horse 'on the pedestrian' .. there's already a minister in each state for horse racing.

  • When does this deal expire? I get paid on Thursday..

    • This deal expires on Friday.

  • I would wait for the next ES Scooter to be released or buy the ES1.

    I believe all ES2s have a flaw in them that presents at around the 300km mark when you activate the head light.
    YouTube is your friend.

    Regarding riding it around town. I use it around Sydney CBD.

    Be smart. Wear a helmet and be visible. I have had no drama riding it seen by cops (on foot, on pushbike, on horse, motorbike & hwy patrol) this way. There was one time, but I was riding on the wrong side of the road. Fair enough, I got a stern warning from the Highway Patrolman.

    Also, on the footpath, best to use the lowest speed setting. ANY faster and you are a danger to yourself and people about.
