    As parallel imports these are missing a hinged cooking grate, charcoal grate with V groove indentation and apparently you miss out on the Weber 10 year warranty. The V grate and warranty aren't such an issue, but the hinged grate is pretty handy. But $80 is $80.

    The kettle itself I guess has lasted about 10 years but I can't say the same about the grilling rack. Why can't they make these of stainless steel? We always cooking on what seems like rusted surfaces.

      Clean the grills with a wire brush when you're done cooking and coat with a little oil.

        someone more knowledgeable in bbqs than myself suggested that after using, leave the grills uncleaned. next time you use it, heat it up then brush it. this way, the grill is seasoned by the previous foods' juices. is this option better than cleaning then seasoning with oil? i recently got my first bbq so still figuring things out

          Depends what you've been cooking. Fatty food would leave a good coating but may get a bit stinky depending on how long before your next BBQ.

          Lean meat with acidic marinade/baste (chicken with lemon, rosemary and garlic) would probably mean rust will start on your grill.

          The other advantage is your grill's ready to go next time you cook.

  • The person putting that kettle together for the photo didn't read the manual. The handle is facing the wrong way.

  • Do all the (Charcoal) Webers come with the charcoal baskets, or is that a specific add-on for most? It is unclear as I have seen some that seem to specify they are included in the box, whilst others do not (like this one).

  • I ordered this on Sunday wanted them to ship it before I posted the deal here. Someone beat me too it, mine shipped today. It's the American model so search by the product number will pull up reviews on Amazon. Means no charcoal holders but I've been told that one's from Bunnings or bbq galore are just as good and are around $15-20.

        Smokey paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, corn flour, some bicarb soda, brown sugar.

        I eyeball it, guessing 2 to 3 times the paprika to the other ingredients, and minimal sugar (it burns) and bicarb (helps crisp the chicken, but go very easy else you'll taste it).

        I put it in a shaker and dust one side of the chicken on the grill, then flip the chicken and dust the other side.

        Don't put it in a bowl with the chicken to coat, chicken is moist and it makes a sloppy paste that sticks more to the bowl than the chicken, you end up losing most of it and what does coat the chicken is in random blobs.

        Any chips will do. I smoke a lot and although I can tell the difference in the smell of the smoke while it's cooking, eating the food it just tastes smokey to me.

        Hickory is a good one, apple, cherry, fruit woods are nice. I have some aprium (it's apricot crossed with plum, it's delicious). Redgum is absolutely awesome on lamb, a really unique, powerful taste. Really anything that is dry usually smokes well. I was eating pistachios once and thought to myself "these shells would probably smoke good". They did.

        Also, if you get a charcoal bbq, I'd say it's mandatory to get a charcoal starter, either a chimney, or an electric starter/hot air gun/looftlighter - https://youtu.be/ToQtYZNPHLk
