Have no idea what the mussels are like but I bought some home brand smoked oysters recently and I thought they were very poor.

I don't know how people can eat those tinned mussels. Horrible flavour.
Frozen ones are similar price normally, and so much better, comparable to fresh. e.g.

Steam, fry - just be sure to cook well to kill any bugs. You may want to cut them up, as bigger than tinned.
