Need to Know Can I Remove Old Licence Points from Overseas Licence Transfer to Victorian Licence
Comments
You want to remove points from an overseas driver licence and transfer them to your Australian driver licence? That doesn't make any sense.
I'm confused as well.
Maybe the overseas licence has a positive points system (start with xx points and lose them until all lost), and OP wants to transfer some of those (positive) points to 'top up' his Aust licence?
Do they even carry the points over when you convert an overseas licence? I wouldn't think so, but hey, I could be wrong.
Or did you accrue demerit points here while you were driving on your overseas licence and now want to convert to Vic licence?
I lose the points in Vic earlier
VicRoads gave you points.
These people may help you find them - About demerit points
You accrue demerit points, not lose them…
Maybe they want to warn Australians that they're a bad driver?
Thank you
Too much ice mate. Go to weed for a few days.
I know that RMS NSW issues people demerit points even if they are driving on an overseas license. They have a system to validate the number of points accrued when a cop stops you. And also able to effectively not allow you from driving in Australia when you have accrued the points threshold.
If you decide to obtain a local license, they would match your name and DOB against their database and transfer the accrued points to the local license.
Guess VicRoads does the same, and I believe the OP wants that not to happen.
Well, I don't think it's an option OP, you have to suffer the consequences if you do something wrong. The only way I know is for you to wait until the points expire.
If you have an overseas licence (not any state within Aus) when you transfer here, the new licence will be clean.
If you convert your licence from another state, eq NSW, to Victoria, the points transfer here.
I don't think that's correct. Unless I'm mistaken, the OP has accumulated points in Victoria against his overseas licence. If/when he converts to a Victorian licence, those points will definitely be carried over to his Victorian licence.
Yes, if you accumulate points here on your international licence, when you transfer your licence here the points will be transferred as well.
If that's the case, VicRoads has made a new account for him which doesn't have a licence number and the points are attached to that account. When he wants to transfer to a new licence here, the account is simply provided with a licence number but everything else stays the same.
Go ask VicRoads.
